If this was removed from all Royal Caribbean ships, I wouldn't mind...

  1. 1. I wouldn't care if this feature was removed from the entire fleet:

    • Specialty dining (nothing added in its place)
      27
    • Wi-Fi
      9
    • Hot tubs
      18
    • Gym and Spa
      39
    • Televisions in state rooms
      15
    • Classes
      45
    • Water activities (slides, flowrider)
      8
    • Adventure Ocean
      22
    • Stage shows
      2
    • Trivia

I know people go on RCI for different reasons. Just was curious what the least popular amenities and features are.

For the specialty dining option, imagine if all the paid options were closed and free spots didn't take their place, just MDR/Sorrento's/windjammer/Cafe promenade/El loco fresh, etc remained.

I had to think about the classes option.  My first reaction was exercise classes which I don't care about at all.  But then I thought of things like the sushi making class which I've considered before.

So personally, the only thing on this list I could mark was trivia.  I'm not actually in favor of Royal getting rid of it though.

But if there was no adventure ocean, there'd be more kids running around the various decks. So you indirectly benefit

Everything listed is liked and used by someone in our group as we usually go with other couples in their 50's with different likes or with our adult kids and  grand kids.  Recently we cruised with about 20 friends and family and I liked that everyone can find something on RCL, unlike some luxury lines where we can only really go with our peers in age and financial situation. What I've never seen anyone in our groups enjoy is the art shows, we've bought art while traveling but not on the ship and I've never actually met anyone who bought it on a cruise.  I'm sure it appeals to some or they wouldn't do it.

I voted for gym and spa but really it's only the gym part I'd drop. For my first 3/4 cruises, I would take workout wear thinking I'd use the gym....but I never did and those clothes never got worn. But that's just for me and I think there are enough people who still use them to make them worthwhile. Plus, I think the crew also uses the main gym.

Honestly, if I got rid of anything it'd be the casino and smoking.....

We highly recommend the sushi making class. Fun, informative and a good amount of delicious sushi to eat for the price!

Even as a non-user of Adventure Ocean it may be the most important feature of Royal Caribbean to me.  It keeps kids so busy and so entertained that they are rarely bored or act out on the ships.  As someone who has never had kids and doesn't particularly enjoy spending time around them, this is such a benefit.  They are happy, I'm happy, parents are happy, everyone benefits!  Without Adventure Ocean I would probably have to cruise an adults-only line.

Do you realize how crowded those venues will become if you remove the other dining options? It would be a madhouse tying to get something to eat.

The only thing that we can really do without and should be banned for the good of everybody is smoking on board all ships fleet wide.

Get rid of the bionic bar and put a real one in its place.  I would also vote for the art auction and crazy number of watch/jewelry shops on board.

I second the numerous high-end/brand name stores. I've never seen people in them often and I personally don't look at cruising as an opportunity to buy super expensive jewelry that could get lost or damaged on my trip. And even if I did, I'd just want to use the ports....every port has numerous shops....

I'd love more mid-priced stores or RC branded stores. Like...it's a mall feel in the promenade...give me a shoe store, an electronics store, a cinnabon/auntie annes, heck..I'd even take one of those airport convenience stores...a Hudson News. lol

^^^This^^^ I'm a RCCL newbie, but The Bionic Bar looks like a gimmick that I can live without.  I'd rather talk to a person at the bar, get suggestions on something new and the like.  Art Auction is a joke.

#1 for me would be (as others have stated) - get rid of smoking in the casino.  Or at least limit smoking to late night. No smoking until 10:00 pm, then stay at your own risk.

As an introvert and a person who is just....awful...at knowing cocktails and knowing that most bartenders use the word "sweet" in a VERY different context than I do...I found the bionic bar to be quite nice. I could take my time scrolling through the digital menu, see exactly how much of each mixer/alcohol whatever item was going to be added and make my pick without having to talk to anyone but the robot handler (who I'm sure was only talking to me because the bar was DESERTED thanks to a less than 25% capacity on a mega ship).

But I get what you're saying and I think most people tend to agree it's a thing that may be fun to do once or twice but i don't know that it's anyone's go to bar.

The Poll seeks a personal opinion, so my opinion is that I don't need wi-fi.  I actually take part/use/enjoy all else listed.

I am not really surprised at the current polling numbers, but the numbers reveal the simple truth of Royal Caribbean cruises: The cruises are geared for all ages and family friendly.

OMG - The art auction.  I don't even know why I care that it's there - maybe because it's never really the "deal" that they project it to be and it feels like people are being taken advantage of or fooled into buying something that they are told is worth more than it is.   I just cannot understand why on earth someone would buy art on a cruiseship.  It seems so strange.  And then the pain of shipping it home.   It's bizarre.

And while I know some people look forward to the bionic bar - I truly miss the champagne lounge.   It was such a great place to grab a cocktail or glass of bubbles before a wander around the promenade.  I know there are other bars - but just somewhere more "loungy" on the ship is missed by me and my hubs.

The art auction is indeed something of an anomaly being that I never see anyone buying the art.  Having said that, we enjoy looking at the art as we pass by, so we don't mind it at all.

The bionic bar was cool!  We tried it twice.  Both times, we got our drinks faster than we would have waiting in line at one of the bars. But alas, part of the bar experience for me is the bartender interaction, so until they make the robotic arms have the ability to speak and listen to my life worries, I wouldn't miss this feature at all.

Some of the newer ships don't have the art anymore, right?  I thought Oasis didn't.

Bring back horse racing.  😉

My parents and my friend's parents bought a horse one cruise when I was a teen.  It was a blast decorating it, bringing it around the ship, and getting people on your "team."  There was a fun rivalry in the MDR between the horse owners.  I had forgotten about the horse racing - thanks for bringing back memories!!

We've done the sushi making class, the cupcake making class, learned to fold napkins, draw cartoon characters, etc. No fitness classes though, lol.

+1 for the smoking (and casino if you can't have it without smoking)

Way Back Machine!!! Horse Racing went out about 15+ years ago... It was a blast (silly but still a blast)

On my first cruise in the 90’s I “bought a horse”.  What a blast carrying that thing EVERYWHERE 😂
