  1. Ummm? NO!! That looks like one of those recipes from a vintage cookbook from the 50's or 60's. Like bananas wrapped in ham and baked with a hollandaise sauce. Don't laugh. I actually saw that in one! Or the tuna gelatin molds!

    Does Size Matter

When the area gets the “all clear” these ports will be tripping over one another to get the revenue that an Oasis class ship brings.

    Oasis Sailing 3/8/2020

It's pretty hard for them to actually link it to the ship itself. The passenger very well could have gotten it traveling home or doing any activities once they got home. I was on Symphony of the Seas March 7-14th and we just got an email yesterday informing us a passenger has tested positive as well. I'm not worried about it as we are almost at the 14 day mark anyway of being away from the passenger. But just like you I appreciate Royal doing their due diligence and letting the passengers know.

  11. Day 7 – Last Sea Day A very sad day….last sea day. This is the day where we had to start packing and enjoy every last minute on the ship. We had great weather the entire cruise so it was nice to still be able to sit out on our balcony. Since we didn’t get much wind back there, sitting in the sun was very nice. We only had plans to do the back stage tour and bridge tour. I had already done the back stage tour so I only opted to do the bridge tour. Yen met us in the afternoon with one other Star Class group to do the bridge tour. When we got to the bridge, there was a bar set up for us with soda and champagne….talk about feeling like royalty! It was very interesting to hear how they dock, how the ship sails itself and the tutorial on the radar. The bridge definitely has an amazing view. After the tour, we asked Yen to join us for dinner at Chops. She said she was unable to but would join us for dessert. Dinner was amazing and we enjoyed having one last opportunity to eat at Chops. Of course, all of our drinks were waiting for us. Yen joined us for dessert and surprised us with a birthday cake for some of us celebrating milestones this year and the restaurant sang us Happy Birthday. This is our group with Yen.

  12. Since @Matt loves his spaghetti Bolognese on the ships and the fleet is grounded, so to say, I thought I would throw out an alternative suggestion for him to try out at home.? All the ingredients you need is spaghetti, hotdogs and a sauce, with a little imagination like the pic..you too can be a stellar chef! Follow me for more recipes.

In Denver they initially ruled liquor stores must close. Within minutes long lines formed and the city was inundated with complaints. Within hours they exempted liquor stores so they could stay open. No lottery sales at liquor stores here.

  14. Well as a Canadian I hope to be joined by many Americans (and other world travellers!) sailing from Vancouver on Serenade August 30!! Clearly both the US and Canada are going to need tourist dollars when this is over. The negative commenters are being impractical. We welcome you once the borders open!

My college is currently putting a move-out plan in place -- students' stuff is still in their dorms despite no students allowed on campus for 2 weeks now -- and the college will be refunding a pro-rated amount of room/board. Tuition, no...because we're all still doing distance learning, so our educations are continuing.

    Perfect Day At Labbdee?

We have been to Labadee twice and absolutely love it. Its one of our favorite stops. We are beach people. The water is warm and clear, its always easy to find a chair. The only upgrade I can think of is food.

  17. I thought the same for our Oasis May 10 cruise but we got cut. Yours being so late in May might go off without a hitch, my fingers are crossed for you. Also honestly I wish they would just do two days in Coco Cay and not go to Nassau. Save them money and its a better port.

  18. I also came to realization during the first round of cancellations that a good TA is so valuable! I had my back up cruise booked a few days before our actual sailing got cancelled. It makes it more bearable lol.

  19. I'm not counting on our Oasis (5/31) cruise to sail, but it may happen as long as the U.S. ports are open and they can resume cruising. For the Oasis itinerary (out of Cape Liberty), Royal would possibly have to replace only Nassau or make it a sea day (fine with us!). The other ports are Port Canaveral and Coco Cay. I'm assuming Coco Cay and Labadee are under Royal's control and discretion. Fingers crossed, but going to book something later just in case!

  20. While I knew this news was going to be inevitable, I was notified yesterday via email that on our cruise someone has tested positive for COVID 19. A chance of someone having it on a ship this size in my mind was a given! I truly appreciate RCCL giving us a heads up!

  23. Hope everyone is doing well and fully stocked on all things paper products and rice. I received this email this evening from R.C. Not worried at all since we are day 11 being back and thought it would be responsible to share. Not really worried since this is not a Princess cruise type of thing but was still a tad surprised but not really that surprised.

  24. I put a deposit down last weekend on a replacement cruise in anticipation of these new cancellations. Already transferred it to Sharla at MEI. I had a few questions regarding the 125% FCC and 125% OBC for cruise planner purchases and Sharla got back to me within an hour. Great service! Have been very happy with MEI and Sharla.

  30. The headline seems a bit misleading. I dont think there will be any cruises from anywhere until the public health emergency has ended. I am still hoping for the best that Alaska cruises will resume July 1 as currently scheduled with Canada closing its ports. Might be wishful thinking as my cruise is in August but fingers crossed!

  31. I have never been to Nassau but I don't have any interest either. The excursions are very expensive and a guy I work with has been there on cruises and said if you don't have an excursion then just stay on the ship. That was our plan even before he said that but he reinforced it. We were supposed to visit Coco Cay on our May 10 Oasis cruise but now its Sept. 6th as we were cancelled. Oh well we will have an excellent time in Sept.

Same to all the above here in Maryland. I can't help but wonder if the liquor stores staying open (here, they're doing online/call-in order with curbside pickup) are a reaction to all the kids being home from school. ? ?

  34. There is no downside to working with an agent now and booking when the time is right. You will not lose a deposit under the current rules. If you book a non refundable deposit way out in the future then you might risk losing a part of your deposit if you change your mind later. Deposits are all being refunded currently.

    FCC confusion

This is what my email says from 2 days ago. Here it says taxes, port fees and gratuities will be refunded. So I’m assuming those fees will have to be paid separately when using a FCC. I don’t know why though. If I pay my entire cruise in one payment, why can’t I use my FCC to pay for everything?

    Cruise Planner Refunds

That's my question exactly. Has anyone called to find out how the 125% Cruise Planner refund works if your cruise is on the "extended" hold?

  41. They have so few people on most of the flights that they could assign a single person per row right now, so "announcing" that they aren't assigning middle seats is little more than an attempt to put a positive spin on a bad situation.

  44. Day 6 – Sea Day Since Cococay was our last stop, we were officially heading back to NJ. There were a lot of passengers on board worried as to whether we were going to be quarantined but the Captain announced that no one was showing signs of being sick so that made it ease our minds. Through the entire cruise, crew were wiping railings, door handles into rooms, doors, walls, etc. so they really did a good job. It was another late night so we slept in but had various activities planned throughout the day beginning with the Galley Tour. It was only about 20 minutes and they cancelled it for everyone except Star Class suites due to the health and safety of the guests. Yen told us that they made an exception for us since no one in the group was showing any signs of being sick. I am still amazed how the crew prepares so much food! After the Galley tour, 3 of us had Escape from the Future Puzzle Break scheduled. The theme is that the cruise ship has traveled through time and we have to solve the puzzles to bring the ship back to the current time. There were 8 of us in total and it required a lot of communication, but we were able to “escape” in a little over a half hour. We are (hopefully) sailing Oasis in September so looking forward to trying that escape room. In the afternoon a few people went to a private wine tasting at Vintages that Yen had set up. I am personally not a wine drinker but those who did it raved about being able to try some VERY expensive wines (I think they said one bottle was close to $600). There was a cost to this of around $175 for 3 people but Yen surprised them on the last night and actually had the wine tasting comped! Everyone in the group but my husband and I saw We Will Rock You at 6:30 – of course Yen had their drinks waiting. Since hubby and I wanted to have a nice dinner with just the two of us, Yen arranged to have Lobster and some sides from Chops delivered to our room. I FINALLY caught a picture of dinner before it was devoured!!! Yeah me! After dinner we met up with those that went to the show and they said they really enjoyed it. Of course, hubby and I headed to the casino where we finally had some luck! We got back to the room and Yen had come in and decorated for our anniversary and left us a cake to enjoy. Very sweet. Brian and Lucky left us the cutest penguin too!

FACT... I made a reservation a few hrs ago. Thinking I could use my FCC as deposit. I could not. The nice person on the phone offered to check if the deposit could be lowered to the amount of port charges and tax. Nice person returned with the factual information that I had to pay the normal deposit required , right then , or I could not continue with the booking. I gladly paid the normal deposit, which was deducted from my account while still on the phone with nice person. Nice person advised me that at some point after 4/15 ( I assume 30 days after my original cruise departure date ) I could contact post cruise to have FCC credited to the new booking and any over payment would be refunded sometime thereafter. These are actual , factual events which occurred on 3/23/20. I hope that anybody who chooses to not use a good TA finds this information helpful.

Actually, as of March 18, 2020, Royal has a new policy in place where you do not have to put a deposit down right away and you can wait for your FCC instead: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2020/03/21/royal-caribbean-letting-travel-agents-place-hold-cruise-reservations-through-end-of-may

Excellent setting in a private home with great views, excellent food that everyone helps to prepare and rum punch.
