No stimulus for either of us but honestly, we don’t need it. We are both still working full time even though retirement is imminent for me. If I was getting one it would definitely be going to the citizens’ cruise ship industry stimulus fund. ??8 points

I would be thinking about those splurge purchases IF the prices were budging at ALL...but they’re not. It will be interesting to see prices (fares and CP purchases) come down to entice existing and loyal customers or if they go the route of maximizing prices. I would think that #2 would be a mistake but I’m often wrong about such things !5 points -

Pros, cost is less, fewer kids, bars don't have long waits ? Cons - be prepared to not go on the itinerary you chose because it may get changed, may have less days than originally scheduled, may get more days than originally scheduled ? If you are flexible and dont get stressed over worrying if your cruise will happen, Sept is good time to cruise.4 points

Debarkation Day Saddest day. Yen asked us what we wanted delivered to our room for breakfast and what time we wanted to get off the ship. Promptly at 7:15 our breakfast arrived (bagels, pastries, coffee and juice). We caught Brian and Lucky out in the hallway after breakfast and gave them their tips for amazing service. Yen came with a porter at 8AM and whisked us off the ship with our luggage in no time. She used her special card to get us on an elevator with our porter which was great. As we said our final goodbye near customs I had tears in my eyes thinking about the best week we had and the amazing things she did for us. After having some time to think about the cruise, there are some amenities I wish we had taken advantage of. Hubby and I are not “sit down” for breakfast types but I wish I had done Coastal Kitchen once for breakfast. The others in our party did Coastal most days and said they really enjoyed it. The other thing we never did was Jaime’s or Chops for lunch. I would have loved to try one of the burgers or enjoyed a nice salad and soup. On sea days we always had a lot scheduled so we grabbed Johnny Rockets one day and Windjammer for the other sea days. I felt it was hard last minute to change plans since there were 10 of us but I wish at least hubby and I did more specialty dining for lunch. Would I do Star Class again – of course (if I could afford it of course)!! We are currently trying to get 2 BR Aqua theater for September but unless the prices drop, we are going to stick with our Owner’s Suite (we are wait listed for Crown Loft which is sold out). Our next Star Class experience is on a short 4 night cruise in November on Oasis. We had an amazing cruise, a lot of laughs, enjoyed being spoiled and look forward to our next adventure! Thanks for following along. With all of the craziness going on across the world with the dreaded “C” word, I enjoyed positing this to distract those who followed along. Finally, I want to thank everyone who posted great tips and did their own live blogs that I followed along with leading up to our cruise. All of the questions I had and nervousness about not being able to plan all of my dining ahead of the cruise were alleviated by people explaining that the Genie really does take care of everything – and she did! Until next time, stay safe everyone and I will be looking forward to cruises sailing again so I can read along on other blogs in the future!3 points

I love seeing all of the creative ways American businesses are innovating to overcome the negative effects of this misery. Most of our local restaurants are providing take out and delivery and providing support (meals) to our local HCP and first responders. It really is heart warming and a reminder that nothing is more powerful than love and good ol’ American ingenuity. I don’t think our liquor laws allow alcohol to be taken out. I haven’t heard of anything like that, locally.3 points

I Understand that (sorta) since I have my 'upstairs' rack that I made from my Grandmother's China closet that my sister was going to throw out because she didn't want it, she wanted a more modern dining room setup ? It is.....unfortunately also mostly empty with only 4-5 bottles in it this evening ?3 points -
Wow! Thanks to this thread I am now eyeing Nellie's Beach cabanas.. $400-$600 is outrageous for a couple when I think about it as coming from my own pocket but when the money is free, those cabanas are really calling my name!2 points

I was personally so moved by the Captain Kate video, it made me pause and send positive thoughts their way. RCCL is a company for sure, but the cruise lines are made up of amazing people, I LOVED the message #hopefloats. I LOVED seeing the faces of those who quite honestly we don't see all that much. Yes, we see Mr. Fain & I appreciate his messages but this one really made me feel true emotion. We are an amazing family, let's beat this thing soon! Thanks so much Matt for making sure we were able to view this.2 points

In the US you only impact your deposit if you change ship or sail date on a non-refundable booking. Even then you don't lose your deposit entirely, there is a $100 fee per person and the rest of the deposit becomes a future cruise credit. That is only when you change the ship or sail date. Typically before final payment due date you can upgrade your cabin. I suggest calling again and speaking with a different agent.2 points

I can't deny it, Captain Kate's video brought a tear to this 18 stone ex rugby player's eye! Thinking of the crews on all lines around the world and sending my best wishes for your continued good health and safety. I look forward to getting the chance to join some of you again real soon...2 points

Cruising to the Caribbean in September?
Ogilthorpe and one other reacted to RCIfan1912 for a topic
We sail almost always in Sept and hurricane season because of that price and they run kids sail free in those times of the year. You really need to be flexible and just go with the flow. Last 2 times to Bermuda on Anthem and NCL Breakaway we were cut short. Breakaway was 3 days in Bermuda and we only left like 4 hours early. Anthem on the other hand we were supposed to have like 18 hours and it ended up being like 6 hours so that was a total loss. We then made the decision to try Spring this year outside of hurricane season so we booked Oasis in early May. Well that was cancelled on us so we are back to Sept on Oasis.2 points -

No stimulus for us either, but had we been eligible to receive one it would have been used on the cruise.2 points -
My 19 year old should be getting one, and knowing her she might use some of it to book dinner at Sushi on 5 one night, along with a spa treatment. I won’t be able to do the same, have a recent kitchen remodel loan to pay off, so any stimulus check I get will be going toward that.2 points

A small change to the wording of the order made ALL the difference, originally, it read "original and closed containers" then it was changed to "original OR closed containers" that opened up all sorts of possibilities!! Have a gallon jug with a cap? ... now you have a party!???2 points -

Oh crap. I turn 70 in July. Another dam form to fill out. Just put it on the stack. We just moved and so many forms to fill out. I`ll just get an on line Dr. degree and sign the form. I will use the name Dr. WHO. Wise Health Official. No worse than some of the other fake news out there. I will have to work on sloppy penmanship to make it look official. Bon Voyage2 points -

It was an unexpected deviation from policy, until a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't even buy wine in a grocery store ... now mixed drinks to go! There is the provision that food has to be part of the order. At the same time, I could imagine ..."I would like a French fry .... and 12 Harvey Wallbangers ....to go" ????2 points -

I'm still hoping our July 29 Adventure cruise is still on, so that we get to make full use of the $18 drink ? package we snagged ?. Really, my ideal is just sitting by the pool with a book and a drink, so I doubt I'll even leave the ship (mobility issues also make that harder, so it's a win/win for me). We get a couple of free meals from our TA, and DD and I signed up for the sushi class, so I'm good in that department.2 points -
NY the liquor stores are open. Also - our restaurants are selling curbside pickup cocktails/beer/wine with your food pickup. It's kinda awesome and it keeps restaurants in business.2 points

Well as a Canadian I hope to be joined by many Americans (and other world travellers!) sailing from Vancouver on Serenade August 30!! Clearly both the US and Canada are going to need tourist dollars when this is over. The negative commenters are being impractical. We welcome you once the borders open!1 point -
Sorry, but I think RCI are doing their best in a very difficult time. They have massive overheads, thousands of staff to consider, and need to remain strong for the time when things return to normal. Just take the refund and maybe you have to wait a bit, and enjoy your future cruising with some other line, or maybe just stay at home and be bitter about it all !1 point
