    Quarantine Purchases

No stimulus for either of us but honestly, we don’t need it. We are both still working full time even though retirement is imminent for me. If I was getting one it would definitely be going to the citizens’ cruise ship industry stimulus fund.

  5. I would be thinking about those splurge purchases IF the prices were budging at ALL...but they’re not. It will be interesting to see prices (fares and CP purchases) come down to entice existing and loyal customers or if they go the route of maximizing prices. I would think that #2 would be a mistake but I’m often wrong about such things !

  8. Pros, cost is less, fewer kids, bars don't have long waits Cons - be prepared to not go on the itinerary you chose because it may get changed, may have less days than originally scheduled, may get more days than originally scheduled If you are flexible and dont get stressed over worrying if your cruise will happen, Sept is good time to cruise.

Will anyone use their stimulus check to book a cruise? Or maybe splurge for something like a cabana?

  14. Debarkation Day Saddest day. Yen asked us what we wanted delivered to our room for breakfast and what time we wanted to get off the ship. Promptly at 7:15 our breakfast arrived (bagels, pastries, coffee and juice). We caught Brian and Lucky out in the hallway after breakfast and gave them their tips for amazing service. Yen came with a porter at 8AM and whisked us off the ship with our luggage in no time. She used her special card to get us on an elevator with our porter which was great. As we said our final goodbye near customs I had tears in my eyes thinking about the best week we

I love seeing all of the creative ways American businesses are innovating to overcome the negative effects of this misery. Most of our local restaurants are providing take out and delivery and providing support (meals) to our local HCP and first responders. It really is heart warming and a reminder that nothing is more powerful than love and good ol’ American ingenuity. I don’t think our liquor laws allow alcohol to be taken out. I haven’t heard of anything like that, locally.

I Understand that (sorta) since I have my 'upstairs' rack that I made from my Grandmother's China closet that my sister was going to throw out because she didn't want it, she wanted a more modern dining room setup It is.....unfortunately also mostly empty with only 4-5 bottles in it this evening

Wow! Thanks to this thread I am now eyeing Nellie's Beach cabanas.. $400-$600 is outrageous for a couple when I think about it as coming from my own pocket but when the money is free, those cabanas are really calling my name!

    Captain Kate Video

I was personally so moved by the Captain Kate video, it made me pause and send positive thoughts their way. RCCL is a company for sure, but the cruise lines are made up of amazing people, I LOVED the message #hopefloats. I LOVED seeing the faces of those who quite honestly we don't see all that much. Yes, we see Mr. Fain & I appreciate his messages but this one really made me feel true emotion. We are an amazing family, let's beat this thing soon! Thanks so much Matt for making sure we were able to view this.

    Upgrades

In the US you only impact your deposit if you change ship or sail date on a non-refundable booking. Even then you don't lose your deposit entirely, there is a $100 fee per person and the rest of the deposit becomes a future cruise credit. That is only when you change the ship or sail date. Typically before final payment due date you can upgrade your cabin. I suggest calling again and speaking with a different agent.

I can't deny it, Captain Kate's video brought a tear to this 18 stone ex rugby player's eye! Thinking of the crews on all lines around the world and sending my best wishes for your continued good health and safety. I look forward to getting the chance to join some of you again real soon...

  27. We sail almost always in Sept and hurricane season because of that price and they run kids sail free in those times of the year. You really need to be flexible and just go with the flow. Last 2 times to Bermuda on Anthem and NCL Breakaway we were cut short. Breakaway was 3 days in Bermuda and we only left like 4 hours early. Anthem on the other hand we were supposed to have like 18 hours and it ended up being like 6 hours so that was a total loss. We then made the decision to try Spring this year outside of hurricane season so we booked Oasis in early May. Well that was cancelled on us so we a

My 19 year old should be getting one, and knowing her she might use some of it to book dinner at Sushi on 5 one night, along with a spa treatment. I won’t be able to do the same, have a recent kitchen remodel loan to pay off, so any stimulus check I get will be going toward that.

A small change to the wording of the order made ALL the difference, originally, it read "original and closed containers" then it was changed to "original OR closed containers" that opened up all sorts of possibilities!! Have a gallon jug with a cap? ... now you have a party!

I will use the name Dr. WHO. Wise Health Official. No worse than some of the other fake news out there. I will have to work on sloppy penmanship to make it look official. Bon Voyage

It was an unexpected deviation from policy, until a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't even buy wine in a grocery store ... now mixed drinks to go! There is the provision that food has to be part of the order. At the same time, I could imagine ..."I would like a French fry .... and 12 Harvey Wallbangers ....to go"

  34. I'm still hoping our July 29 Adventure cruise is still on, so that we get to make full use of the $18 drink package we snagged . Really, my ideal is just sitting by the pool with a book and a drink, so I doubt I'll even leave the ship (mobility issues also make that harder, so it's a win/win for me). We get a couple of free meals from our TA, and DD and I signed up for the sushi class, so I'm good in that department.

NY the liquor stores are open. Also - our restaurants are selling curbside pickup cocktails/beer/wine with your food pickup. It's kinda awesome and it keeps restaurants in business.

    Perfect Day At Labbdee?

We have been to Labadee twice and absolutely love it. Its one of our favorite stops. We are beach people. The water is warm and clear, its always easy to find a chair. The only upgrade I can think of is food.

    Letter from Doctor

My doctor refused to sign my letter, not because I wasn’t fit to travel or had any chronic illness but because the government had issued guidance to 70’s an overs not to travel at this time. Hopefully once we get over the current Covid-19 crisis things will return to normal again. Here’s hoping anyway, otherwise it looks like I won’t be cruising again.

Everything seems to be pointing to the notion that they'll point their cruises south for the time being -- and I'm the opposite of you -- I don't wanna go that way...it's not what I paid or booked for, so I get you not wanting to go north!

    Does Size Matter

When the area gets the “all clear” these ports will be tripping over one another to get the revenue that an Oasis class ship brings.

  50. Sell ships to who? Who would buy a cruise ship right now? Let's say Vision was worth $200M before the virus. Now? Maybe $20M would fetch a buyer. So you sell ships below market value. Let's say someone has ample cash and buys up older and smaller ships from the big three. A year from now they launch a brand new budget friendly cruise line offering cruises for $40. They can offer dirt cheap cruises because their cost to acquire a fleet was pennies on the dollar. Now 1/3 of all future cruise business goes to this new cruise line making it that much harder for the big three t
