CruiseFamily 2
Just got the call, formal email coming out tomorrow regarding March sailings for sure and sounds like until May that US cruises are cancelled. I guess we all knew this was coming.
Lovetocruise2002 11,243
Just curious, who exactly did you get the call from? sk8erguy1978
CruiseFamily 2
Our planner. He unofficially called to share with me the announcement coming tomorrow. He was asking for other dates he should look out for in re-booking the ultimate family suite as this is the 2nd time we've lost it due to C19. CruiseFamily 2
He also shared that they "always" follow what Norwegian cruise lines does, thought that was an interesting piece of info.

Linda R 53
I totally expected RC to follow with the other cruise lines and cancel more cruises soon. I have paid in full my April cruise but expected it to be cancelled. Not sure about May cruise yet? Thanks for information

So I am guessing that the announcement tomorrow will cover till the end of April? Is that what you heard? And sorry about the UFS. I feel your pain. Since last March, we have lost 4 Star class sailings. Next one on the chopping block is going to be my RLS on SY....so yes, I totally feel your pain. IF the past repeats itself, RCG will follow suit with Carnival brand, Hollnd America, which took their Mediterranean cruises aboard the Volendam and Westerdam ships and canceled through early June. And in Canada and New England, Zaandam cruises are canceled through August. 2021 doesn't look promising.

We've had a spike recently but more because it's winter, the cold weather and flu season will die out soon. By April, the vast chunk of the vulnerable in the UK should have been vaccinated so hopefully that's a ticket for the Odyssey to start with the taster sailings from Southampton. I see sailings going on in Europe in the summer, maybe not all at once.

We're due out of Southampton in May, we've already accepted that it's highly unlikely to happen, gutted doesn't even come close PRebecca

monctonguy 1,807
I have been saying this here for months.....nothing happening til the summer and then it may be just the "test" cruise the CDC requires(90 day process or something)......even the fall is starting to look iffy at this point. We need MASS vaccinations to happen in the next few mths or 2021 is a write off for cruising.

Realist....glass half empty kinda view here. Much better to temper expectations moving forward than for people to have a unrealistic blind sense of optimism for something that probably wont happen...no?! I would be happy to get on Mariner of the Seas today exactly as it was in May of 2019. The capacity was light and combine that with some mask wearing and sanitizer stations and its exactly the same risk profile as everything else in Florida these days ... monctonguy 1,807
Oh.....i would be 100% ok with that..no issues at all.....but in this political climate, i don't think that is going to happen at all. If it was an option, i would be there yesterday But there is no rational or reasonable discussions around it...its all or nothing with no middle ground for the most part(except in Florida it seems and maybe a few others states) Only thing that is going to allow me to ever travel again from Canada is mass vaccinations....... PPPJJ-GCVAB 136
So my family is very happy we decided back in early December to Lift & Shift our April cruise to 2022. Since there are 30 of us in 12 rooms, I feel lucky that I was able to keep our rooms almost identical to what we had originally booked for 2020 which then became 2021 (using FCC) and now 2022!! I just tried a fake booking for our cruise and had we waited 'til this cancellation to do the L&S...looks like we would have been more spread out. So doing the L&S ahead of time worked out for us! Since our original booking, I have been the "in-charge" person, opting not to go with a TA. I booked through the groups department and so far have enjoyed doing all the leg work for my group...even when I have needed to call several times to get something done! Guess you could say I am my own TA! I hope everyone who opts for a L&S now will be as satisfied with their results! Good luck to all...hope early 2022 will be smooth sailing for all of us who are now waiting until then to hop onboard!! twangster and Jax
WAAAYTOOO 11,944
I did something similar. I L&S my March 14, 2021 cruise to March 12, 2022 a few weeks ago. It is hard to L&S Star Class suites due to the low number of them to begin with and boy am I glad I did. By now, all of the SC suites for any dates that I could have used are gone. I would have been SOL. I knew there was no way they were sailing in March. Glad I guessed right. Jax, PPPJJ-GCVAB, sk8erguy1978 and 1 other 3

Yeah, we have a mix of JS (7) and Spacious Balconies (5) on Navigator and keeping everyone on the same deck in very close proximity was already almost impossible back in December. And with that many people, I didn't have the luxury of picking and choosing which date to shift to...there was only ONE that we could all do!!! LOL Once this family cruise happens I hope to continue cruising with just me and my husband so I look forward to booking the larger ships...longer cruises...and bigger suites!
