  2. Probably a teen just being reckless. Already some are saying "RC needs to do a better job protecting us". Its truly sad and unfortunate but we have got to stop blaming others for our own ignorance.

  5. I am confusing the dinner crew. There is way too much food on the ship, so I have been going to dinner and only getting a main course. Tonight, dinner took me 20 minutes from start to finish. It is not like I am not eating. Today was one of my workdays. I got up this morning and went to the Buffet and found a good table with the soft bench. Then I spent the next 6 hours working on my computer. I am a computer programmer, so it was real paid work. I was also able to attend three different meetings. I did not eat any meals, but I started with Bacon/sausage and toast. that lasted the first 2 hours. Then I got some fruit and grapes for the next two hours. Then the last two hours was meat and cheese. Now it is 7:30 pm and I feel good about what I got done today and am going to bed early. Tomorrow, I have a shore excursion that starts at 8 am and lasts 6 hours.

  6. I don't think this should be looked at as a change in GTY policy or a big risk booking a GTY. This is a one off for circumstances we don't know, but must have been both unforeseen and urgent. I would also be upset to get this letter, but I don't think we should make it more than it is.

  8. To close out this thread, thank you all for your excelent responces. We did move up to the central park view, predominatly because of our fear of noise bleed from the connecting interior. I'll report back post cruise about our findings! Keep cruising!

  9. https://www.reddit.com/r/royalcaribbean/comments/185ni0s/overbooking_on_the_day/ Saw this one this morning and found it pretty shocking that this guy is finding out when he arrived at the port that RCCL didn't have a room for him. From what I've gathered in the comments, this was a first time cruiser with a GTY booking. It's not clear, but it appears that there may have been a dozen others who were also denied boarding due to overbooking the ship the as well. That's some disappointing inventory management to be sure.

    The Key Price?

Just yesterday (11/28), I paid $28.99/day for The Key on my March 2024 sailing. Internet is currently at $20.99/day. $8 per day more to get The Key lunch, early embarkation, reserved seating for shows, and any time departure at the end without waiting in line? Yes please! My September 2024 sailing still shows key at a value (cough cough) of $41.99/day while Internet is at $20.99/day. Um..no. Well, I should say, not yet. Maybe if it drops more, I'll consider it. For reference, March 2024 is a Freedom-class ship while September 2024 is an Oasis-class ship.

    The Key Price?

The Key USED to only be a couple of dollars more than internet but since demand has increased, I have not seen it lower than $40/day. I personally think those days of it being "worth" it are long gone.

  13. I will try to update tomorrow with some pictures from our time in curaçao. We are in Aruba all day though so it might be Thursday when back at sea. However, we had a great time on our private excursion today. Crazy Uncle and Aunt unfortunately didn’t make it as Aunt wasn’t feeling well, but it was great. Will fill in some details later. Got back on ship about an hour before all aboard. Went to Windjammer for dinner, yes @Lovetocruise2002 we ate there for dinner. Sorry @OCSC Mike no pictures. Now about to watch Love and Marriage show!

    How many people

I think most ships now are pretty full. I never have felt overwhelmed with the amount of people on ships. There is definitely times and places there are lots of people at one time but also are places to get away from people. Even though the larger ships have more people, they also have more space. So it all equals out.

  16. I haven’t been to CoCocay since May and noticed 2 changes on this trip. 1. The balloon is absent. The ring it sits on is there, no sign of basket or balloon. 2. The tram has changed. I took it back from Chill beach and when it got closer to the pier the 2nd tram is no longer “across the way”. It’s nearby I’m sure…I didn’t see where.

  19. We've had good results utilizing the RC Crown & Anchor line (800-526-9723) which generally has significantly shorter wait times (vs. general CS line) and can assist in all matters. Also, the Royal Caribbean Facebook page has a messaging feature (instant messaging). I've had 5 minute waits and some up to 2-3 hours, but someone will always get back to you relatively quickly via FB.

    NYE Tables

This thread has prompted me to go back to my live blog from SY NYE last year. This seems like something I would have documented. Sure enough, I did. Our suite concierge reached out to us a few days before sailing with the price list for promenade venues. The prices were not pretty. I am willing to bet they will be even uglier this year

  22. That's more in line. I don't think day of cancellations are frequent and that's a good thing. What a horrible slap to be right there in port. It's tough enough when the letter comes 6 weeks out.

  23. I have never done Deal or No Deal but told everyone who buys cards are playing. Lines in casino are crazy to buy. Random peeps picked from audience to go on stage and then remaining explained like a bingo format where everyone has chance to win certain prizes. Person who explained it to me actually was picked to be on stage and won. I was told there are videos online of actual episodes from ships for further reference.

  25. I definitely wouldn't pay dollars out of my own pocket to go again, but I wouldn't turn down another offer to freeload..like perhaps in January 2025 on Equinox when it comes to PC No idea how that went. If I would have paid more attention I might have swung by just to watch. I just know there was a crazy line in the casino to purchase the scratchers!

    How many people

The former as most ships are sailing at very high capacities. Oasis class ships do a very good job of handling the large amount of people onboard. Enjoy your February cruise!

  30. Since a 12th person laughed at the above post, I felt it was worthy of a follow-up. Oh the irony... the buffet actually looked great (Matt even mentioned how good it was in his review) and we already know I don't actually care about what an interior looks like... but nothing else seemed very appealing to me as far as basic, included, non-suite food/drink/activities go. I'm still willing to be a bathtub-sleeping freeloader but I don't foresee joining the traitor ranks anytime soon. Thanks for taking us along @AshleyDillo.

  34. Summary: Sleep does wonders I am sorry for taking until the third day to update my trip. I have taken a 2 to 3 hour nap every day. I have also got 8 to 10 hours sleep every night. I have kept my alcohol to one drink a day and drank lots of water. I have not been doing lots of the events (trivia, game shows...) that I normally do. Now today I feel like a real person. I figure I was on autopilot and was going through the steps. Now do not get me wrong, I was not doing my job or coaching subpar, but my entire life revolved around work and water polo. I have gone 4 days without working and I have not done that in a lot of months. Now I would like to give you some advice from someone that knows nothing. Break your routine up with something different. If you are working make sure you take a weekend day and get away and do something you normally would not do. If you are retired make sure you break up your routine. Go visit your family that you have not seen in a while. Go someplace that you would never go by choice. Take your spouse on a real date (drive in theater and make out). The main idea is do something to break your routine up. now on to the ship experience

  36. Over the Thanksgiving holiday on Wonder we decided to go to the Attic comedy club and saw Paul Ogata. This guy was hilarious and a true professional at his craft. We literally didn’t stop laughing through his entire set. I hope to see him again on another ship (possibly Icon).

  37. I couldn't agree more. Same with the cruise directors jokes. However, the majority of people on cruise ships are still first timers or once every couple years cruisers and find these hilarious. Those of us who have heard the cruise ship jokes many many times are the ones rolling our eyes.

    NYE Tables

This pricing MUST be for the overwater cabanas at Coco Cay. Another typo from the IT department. Seriously, I will always upsize my happy meal but this is going slightly overboard. I think we will watch the promenade movie unfold at midnight while standing.

    Tribute Bands

Oops I thought I attached a picture. This was a band covering Motown hits from the 60’s and 70’s. Not bad by any means but just seemed like the music hall needed at least a time slot or two for some rock or 70’s-80’s hits. I guess we were spoiled by Phoenix the last few music hall experiences.

  41. I emailed a crew position today for a different ship and immediately got an out of office reply. They will be "gone" for 5 days starting yesterday. They will return on day 3 of the next cruise. It's not a 3 day cruise. This is on a different ship but I suspect there are some crew needing to be by themselves not in a crew corridor for a few days. Five days to be specific. I'm thinking maybe a group of guest cabins at the end of hallway were allocated for this purpose.

I don't know if there is any other way but the way I find out are from either... A) The Captain's Q&A session B) The Top-Tier event (which I have never been to but other people have and they tell me that's where they get it from)

  43. As someone who doesn't do Broadway (with a few exceptions) I was actually looking forward to Effectors 2 on Wonder and I agree it was pretty cool. We had ages 9-70+ with us and it kind of had a little something for everyone (a bit less so for my wife's parents but you get the idea). I'd like to see the 1st one but given my cruise habits it's highly unlikely we sail on Quantum class anytime soon. I'll settle for your review.

  44. This is fake news. I would question everything the moment it was suggested that slots “were not considered casino”. RC puts 400+ machines in a ships casino for a good reason. This is just ridiculous. I was on Wonder last week and had more comped drinks at the casino bar than any other bar on the ship (there are slot machines built into the bar!!!!!).

  47. Hello everyone, I am new here to the Royal Caribbean Blog & the message boards. Since I did not see any roll calls for the January 19 - 26th 2024 cruise, I thought I'd start one. My mom & I have booked ourselves on this cruise to mexico. I have been to mexico on land of course, but it will be a fun and unique experience to see it on a ship. I'm 30 years old btw and excited to experience a Royal Caribbean cruise ship for the first time as I sailed with Princess Cruises when I was 10-15 years old to see Alaska. I am nervous that we would have to cancel this cruise due to weather, as I hope our canadian winter weather doesn't give us a major snow storm on the day we are about to fly out. I am glad we booked a flight out the day before to give us some leeway, but also I hope the flight issues get resolved by then which I am not hopeful. We are flying out of Calgary, AB to LAX. Also if there is a roll call for this sailing and I missed it I apologize.
