ChrisHa
I had an interior stateroom on Symphony for January... made bids for neighborhood balcony and ocean balcony on the day RoyalUp debuted. I found out my ocean balcony bid was accepted 12/24, so about one month after bidding and less than a month before sailing. JasonL
I cruise in family suites often with 5 total guests. RCCL should really update their system to allow more than 4 guests in a booking. I don't know if I could bid on upgrades since a party of 5 has 2 separate bookings for the 1 cabin. Linda P
Cruising on the Adventure of the Seas on February 2nd....just got our congratulations letter today that our bid was accepted! We have gone from a 3V inside cabin to a 3B spacious balcony! We got a great price when the Kids Sale Free sale was on so our increase of $400 total ($200 x 2) is definitely worth it! Mrbacardi5
Look what I got today. I was in an OV. Minimum bid was $50pp. When I booked it the difference between an OV and a balcony was around $700. I had originally bid $130pp but upped it yesterday! Joy
We are new to RCL, have done just 3 cruises. We bid for a balcony to upgrade from a 2N OV on the 3rd deck. What a mistake! We were notified the day before our cruise, moved to the last balcony port side on the 8th deck, 8398. It was a big room, we didnt need all the space we had. However, the last minute change meant we did not get our casino mail, including two free cruise certificates or anything elsethe casino sent out for NYE eg champagne. I wont be doing that again

mom2mybugs
Ok...I’m truly not understanding this whole process and how it works. Has @Matt written on specifics (this would be a good podcast lol) or can someone link me to a previous topic if it’s been discussed to death? I’m in an interior on allure and while I would hate to lose my location (just outside Central Park) I would love a bigger room or natural light. I’m getting panicky about claustrophobia! I've had several conversations with C&A about this. According to them, it is completely random. People on your sailing might get an offer, and it doesn't mean that you will. Also, they can inform you at the very last minute if you won the bid, or you could find out early on. It's classic Royal. No one knows. MrMarc
I really like RCCL, but it would be really nice if all of their various "teams" got together to form 1 team. Instead of providing a more transparent and less random system, it seems like it is an even more random game with everchanging and unknown rules. simone
I am leaving on the Oasis of the Seas on Jan 13th. I just received the email for the RoyalUp. I put a bid for a Junior suite and Grand suite. For those of you that got upgraded, how much more did you bid over the minimum amount? Was the location of the room at the lower decks? I am traveling with my husband and 3 kids and need more room. I have a ocean view suite at the moment. I am also curious/concerned about the noise level with decks 6, 7 and 8. I have seen one person post on here that they won a bid (I don't read every blog post obviously), I think it was an interior to an ocean view and if I remember correctly he was not notified until 24-48 before the scheduled departure date. My specific Royal up offered was for the Royal Loft suite, minimum bid was $800pp to $3100PP, I bid $801PP, I'm not holding my breath. I have a work buddy that is going on Harmony next week, he received a Royal up from balcony to Junior or Grand, minimum for the Junior was $300PP, he bid $301PP, Royal called him and asked him if he would increase his bid, he said no $602 was his total budget, they ask him if he would bid for the Grand and he said yes $602 was his budget, they said that they would make note, this all happened today, so he hasn't heard anything. They made note that the Harmony was not full for next week. CORRECTION: Just re-read and earlier topic and there were 2-3 people that said they had won and upgrade. Gears
I am shocked...just got an e-mail of our successful bid. We were below the waterline with an "Ocean View" on Deck 2. I low balled (as low as I could bid) for a balcony at $150ea...Shazzam!, we're now on Deck 6 with a balcony. And for less than we would have paid if we were to book it straight up (for the particular cruise, Feb 10 on the FOS). simone
Thanks for the reply. The Oasis of the Sea Suites are completely sold out. The minimum upgrade for the junior suite is $200/person and the grand suite $500/person. I placed a bid for both but the grand suite is above my budget. RachelLevena
I received my offer today for Brilliance of the Seas March 4 Western Caribbean. We went from an ocean view on deck three to a 1D balcony on deck 9 for 100 per person. I'm a first time cruiser and don't really plan on the ability to cruise often to build points so C&A status isn't something I'm chasing. For this trip I'm traveling with my best friend, I won't have better half and tiny humans in tow so many of the decisions I've made have been to purchase items at their lowest and make it as nice as a vacation as it can be within the budget I set forth because I'm paying for 1 (or 2 if I'm covering it as a gift) rather than 4. Even if I love this trip, as a family we wouldn't be able to justify cruising once a year much less multiple times a year so options like Royal Up and The Key allow me to have a wonderful vacation with my friend and enjoy amenities that would normally be out of my reach. I'm probably the target market Royal has chosen for these programs and I am very excited for my long overdue break! tiny260
I'm probably not going to answer this correctly, but I believe you will get a Royal up email asking for you to bid and then much closer to your cruise date you will get another email telling you they have either accepted or rejected your offer. Maybe what you are referring to is the email saying that they have accepted your offer, but the timing seems early for a March cruise, most people have not been hearing that they won until 24-48 hours before. I have received 2 emails, one asking me to bid and one saying they had received my offer, but I have not received an email saying that they accepted or rejected and I leave for my cruise Saturday. RachelLevena
@tiny260, no my initial was bid around black friday, it may have been the day that Royal announced the program Nov 28th. This was the actual email stating my bid was accepted. It followed with a receipt that my card had been charged and my cruise planner now shows my new cabin number. I've been checking daily and doing mock bookings just to see what might be remaining and gave up hope of the chance of an upgrade yesterday as all higher cabin types for which I bid showed as booked (I think Royal says unavailable?). Low and behold at 2pm today received the notice of upgrade. For anyone keeping an eye on their inbox, the acceptance email comes from royalup@rccl.com and you will get two additional emails from [email protected] with your reservation information included (3 total emails from royal). tiny260

Boston Babe
I got the infamous email today. OUr sailing is Feb 14th on Grandeur. Now, let me ask, we are currently in an Owners Suite. There is only one more place to go after that on Grandeur and it's the Royal Suite. Do we really need 1110 square feet for two or us and to spend another $1300 (starting bid at $650 pp) and I'm sure there will be someone with a larger family that would take that. So I think we will stick with what we have! Sweety and JLMoran
