  1. We stayed at country inn and suites overnight before our cruise. It was ok. Clean rooms, but very crowded (spring break). Food options were limited aside from a couple of pizza places that deliver. Took 75 min for our pizza so def give yourself time. We booked 6 mos before our cruise and paid $144 plus tax for a suite. 2 queens and a sofa bed in the ‘living room’. They had a nice shuttle to the port which was great as well.
  2. We found that our classroom was about 2-2.5 hours each for 2 days to go over the e learning, so like others have said, the prelim work if doing it onboard a cruise will take up a good portion of your trip. One thing to keep in mind if doing checkouts onboard is your local shop will likely charge a referral fee of 200-300 so do what works best for you!
  3. I was just able to book for our 4/2 wonder sailing using my iPhone by going to the cp on the website. Not the app. Easy and everything was available for all shows. Book the aqua show early in your cruise since it can be canceled due to high winds.
  4. I was just able to book for our wonder 4/2 sailing. On the website using my iPhone was easy and all dates and times available for all shows. One hint- book the aqua show early bc it can be canceled due to high winds. If they cancel, you will be booked for another performance.
  5. Thanks. My issue is when I log out, it takes me back to the home page, so the whole entrainment screen is gone. This will be our 4th rc cruise and it’s never been this convoluted.
  6. My experience w the UDP is the answer is yes to all of the above. The only hiccup I believe is that there has to be a certain buffer of time between reservations on a particular day if you're doing the same meal at 2 places (not sure if that also includes the MDR though). The most important thing is make your reservations the first thing you do aboard the ship...find a quiet restaurant and do it there, since it's bonkers on the promenade deck once you board.
  7. looks like Scott above has better info. we're going in a month w our kids and have the soda pkg so if one kid loses a cup (hopefully not!) I'll report back.
  8. Not to mention any reputable shop will hopefully pair you up with those of similar skill levels. I've heard stories of AOW/cave/cavern divers paired with beginning OW divers and basically ditching them on the dive. Where I live in the cold midwest, it's basically quarry diving, which doesn't interest either my wife or me. We're content to do shallow wreck/reef dives in warm tropical waters 2-3x a year, whether on a cruise or dive trip through a shop or on our own.
  9. That's the worst of all- get an email alert to prebook, go to the CP/app and the dreaded "lights camera..". the best course of action is to just keep stalking the site..maybe we could create a sub topic-ship/sailing date/when cp prebook option opened just to see what's going on.
  10. I'm on the 4/2 Wonder sailing, am at 30 days as of this writing and haven't seen the entertainment portal open yet to prebook shows. I called RC, since their FAQs said the window would open at 30 days, but they weren't of any help, since they couldn't give me a time the window would open..just said to check daily leading up to the cruise..i've been checking off and on throughout the last sev days, so I'll report back when I was able to get in.
  11. You would go to guest services, report it lost and get a new cup. They can likely deactivate the cup that was lost. You only need the cups for the freestyle machines. You can go to any bar (he can do it too if he's just ordering soda), show his seapass card and get a regular glass/cup.
  12. My wife and I are going through the cert process right now, but unfortunately won't have it done in time for our upcoming cruise (kids will be with us and they're too young and don't want to ditch them while we're doing our checkouts). we're going to the caymans in June to finish :). I think the best advice is to work with your local dive shop and complete the PADI e-learning (5 modules; plan on 5-6 total hours to watch), plus the classroom AND poolwork before your cruise, so you're just doing the checkouts onboard. Trust me, there will be a lot going on onboard and it'll be easier to do your poolwork locally beforehand where your instructor can take the time to know you and your comfort level. You don't want to spend a good chunk of your cruise completing everything onboard. The ship dive shop can coordinate your checkouts over 2 ports, since you can only do (at most) 3 of 4 dives in a day and usually, it's done 2 dives a day over 2 days. Have fun! (we are; we LOVE our local dive shop, since they're flexible, have a small staff and only have class sizes of 4 or less with 1 instructor or a max of 6 students plus 2 instructors, so do some research ahead of time and pick the shop that works best for your needs.
  13. Once you’re onboard, that 24 hours isn’t always hard and fast. The shore tours desk team is pretty flexible last minute, esp if you want to switch v asking for a refund. Ymmv tho.
  14. I've been told El Hamburger is def worth a trip; going to check it out in a couple weeks while on Harmony.
