WAAAYTOOO Posted March 21, 2023 Report Posted March 21, 2023 Apparently too many lawsuits. Found this on CC asquared17, Neesa, KWofPerth and 1 other 1 4 Quote
KWofPerth Posted March 21, 2023 Report Posted March 21, 2023 So the bungee aspect will remain sans the VR experience? Or the bungee is being retired in its entirety? After a second reading, it looks like the latter. Too many accidents I guess. Quote
She Sails Away Posted March 22, 2023 Report Posted March 22, 2023 Interested to see what they replace it with! Quote

Diesel Posted March 22, 2023 Report Posted March 22, 2023 I see that Royal Caribbean is doing away with Sky Pad and going to replace the venue with a different activity. I've never sailed on a ship that had a Sky Pad so never experienced it. Curious what people thought of Sky Pad. Was it something people enjoyed doing? Was it a "Glad I did it but don't need to do it again" activity? Did it seem like a popular activity with people lining up to do it? Quote
Ampurp85 Posted March 22, 2023 Report Posted March 22, 2023 It was weight and height restricted, lots of upset children and folks. A person in my party once complained about the harnessed used and said it wasn't worth it. Quote
Va4fam Posted March 22, 2023 Report Posted March 22, 2023 We were looking forward to trying it on Odyssey in couple of weeks. Didn't they also take away the VR attraction? Quote
Jkaczano Posted March 22, 2023 Report Posted March 22, 2023 Both teens including my gymnast said it was a one and done. No loss in my opinion Quote
CrimsonCruiser Posted March 22, 2023 Report Posted March 22, 2023 Seems like I'm in the minority so far , but I had a blast on it on Odyssey. I would definitely have done it again if I was on a ship that had it. That said, I can see how it may have issues. My "blast" was partly because I ended up using it wrong. Easily swayed by the VR I kept my legs curled and used apparently quite a lot of force when jumping. On lookers said I was twice as high as other participants and swinging all over the place. I SWEAR I tried to follow the rules and keep my legs straight but the virtual rocks and mountains I was jumping over sent signals to my brain to duck, tuck, dodge and swerve lol. I apologized profusely to the staff monitoring me and while he took it in good humor, I think I could tell he definitely had had a hard time. I'm sure to him it looked like I was intentionally doing whatever I wanted. I'm sure the staff are in worse position to get kicked in the face or worse, not to mention other issues such as what @Ampurp85 mentioned. I'll be sad to see it go, glad I got my chance, and interested to see what comes next WAAAYTOOO, Ryan79, KWofPerth and 3 others 6 Quote

Neesa Posted March 23, 2023 Report Posted March 23, 2023 My daughter enjoyed it, she did not use the goggles. They were not consistent with types of clothing. Whomever was in charge of the contraption called the shots. It honestly seemed tough on the staff as well. She did say, one and done. Ampurp85 1 Quote
Gadget Hackwrench Posted March 23, 2023 Report Posted March 23, 2023 There have been several lawsuits for million of dollars over injuries sustained on the Sky Pad including back injuries. From a liability view alone, the cruise ship company made the right decision here to end this beloved ride. Quote
Bowen Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 I wonder how many people barfed in that attraction. I definitely would. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote

twangster Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 When I did it it was a workout! Not sure I ever figured out why I had to jump up and down to get the things I was trying to get. Seems like the VR part would have worked standing in place nearly as well. cruisellama 1 Quote
cruisellama Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 I'm surprised its lasted as long as it has (after reading about the accidents). There are some pretty advanced VR simulations in the market place that make you feel like you're moving without actually moving. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
WannaCruise Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 Sad to hear. My kids were looking forward to it on Odyssey. Hopefully they put in some other fun (safe) activity. Quote

Ditchdoc Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 I am not sure just what you could use that space for. As some have mentioned, a semi outdoor bar (Tiki) might work. I though maybe one of those virtual driving ranges were you hit a golf ball into a projected screen that detects speed and spin then virtually continues the balls course. You might could line up 3 or 4 people at a time and allow a limited number of balls (5 - 10). I am not sure golf is popular enough to have such an thing or not. Mariner is on it way back to the US for the summer season after a dry dock. Maybe its Skypad will be updated and give some clues for future use. PPPJJ-GCVAB 1 Quote
