crown and anchor - how do they calculate?

Recommended Posts

Per room, and booked to each Crown and Anchor persons member number, So my wife and I both are C&A members, I get 1 point per cruise night on my number and she gets 1 point per cruise night on her number, that way we both enjoy the benefits of C&A.

You get 2 points per night for a suite.

are crown and anchor society points calculated per room or per guest?  if they do it by guest, then i can double my points and get to platinum level.

thanks!

Straight from Royal:

One Cruise Point for each completed night of sailing and an extra Cruise Point per night when you purchase and sail in suite accommodations (categories RL, RS, PS, SL, TS,, TL A1, A2, A3, CL, OL, OS, OT, OP, FS, GL, GP, GS, GB, GT JS, J1, J3, J4, VT, VP, VO, VS L1, L2) and/or sail in any category and pay a single pricing type for double occupancy staterooms. All other rates including Travel Agent rates are excluded from single price type extra point promotion. Cruisetours are included as an additional night per each day on the cruise tour. Points will be awarded by rate paid not rate berthed, for example, in the instance of an upgrade from an outside to a suite category.

If you travel and book a regular cabin(not a studio cabin) you get double points when you travel solo as well.

You start getting benefits right away. the points do not expire(not as of now anyways) and to be honest, the real perks IMHO are once you hit emerald level and then diamond and higher...

workin' on that diamond level  :P

So after my 5 night cruise (first time on RCI), I will have 5 pts.  How many pts does it take to get some sort of a benefit, and do the points expire?

Gold - 3

Platinum - 30

Emerald - 55

Diamond - 80

Diamond Plus - 175

Pinnacle - 700

This link shows the benefits of each tier: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/cas/

IMO, the real benefits start kicking in at Diamond.

We hit diamond after our cruise next month.  27 days to be exact.  Biggest benefit I see is the 3 drink coupon per night.  I’m a drink package person so not sure of the value for me.  Would love to be able to eliminate the drink package purchase.  Not sure with the restrictions of the coupons that I allow be able to eliminate it.  I’ll evaluate my consumption more closely during our up coming cruise.

Do you have to be a certain age to have an account?  Was wondering if could start one for my kids?

You can most definitely start one for your kids. Just a quick phone call. Really easy. Your kids will collect their own points but will take on your status until they are 18.

I have contemplated doing a reposition cruise solo to get to diamond.....at 2 pts a night your looking easily at 30 pts or more depending on the itinerary of the ship...pretty good way to jump levels and the prices on those cruises are usually pretty good. We'll see what happens after I do my next 2 cruises and hit emerald.  But that would be a pretty cheap and easy way to climb the points scale.

I am Platinum with 45 points.  We are on the Radiance in July (7 night cruise & 3 night post cruisetour).  Will I get points for the land portion also since it is thru RCI?

7 night cruise plus 3 night cruisetour will garner you 10 points (assuming you're not in a suite) and bump you to Emerald before your next trip.

Rather excited to realise that I'll be at Platinum after my next two cruises - I had for some reason thought that it was a long jump from Gold to the next level.

As I'm now essentially working to cruise, hopefully I'll start racking those points up!

You said it --- we'll be hitting Platinum after our October cruise...... we literally do nothing with our lives except work (and having our beer and bonfires up on the mountain behind our home) and planning on our next cruise.  Over the weekend we were watching YouTube Videos on different things to do at the places we'll be going.

We surround ourselves with cruise related items at work to help keep us focused on the prize.

Here's a question, do you automatically get enrolled in C&A after your first cruise or do we have to sign up somewhere?

You will be automatically enrolled after you complete your first sailing with Royal Caribbean (applies to US Residents). Membership benefits begin after you have completed at least one Royal Caribbean International cruise.

Basically you create your RC account, link your past cruises and dunzo.

With the threat of the points possibly changing we are booking enough cruises to get us to the next level over the next 1 1/2 years.  That is where the junior sweet comes in handy so as to get double points.  Especially on the 9 night and longer cruises.

This is a very smart move.  It worked for us a number of years ago when they changed the program from a “per cruise” basis to a “per night” basis.  They grandfathered us in b/c we had already booked our requisite cruises when they made the change.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is the extra points awarded if you're cruising solo.  I cruise with friends, but I snore like a freight train... so I always get myself a solo cabin.  I wasn't aware until recently that you get double points if you're paying the solo supplement.  They definitely weren't being awarded to my C&A account.  I also usually get a JS or above which doubles points, so the point breakdown for a 7 night solo cruise in a suite is:

Base points: 7

Suite points: 7

Solo points: 7

I called RCI's Casino Royale agent to ask if I was correct in assuming my past 7 day cruises should have received 21 points instead of 14.  Indeed, they should have.  The agent fixed that in five minutes and I got a 21 point bump out of it.  If you're cruising solo, definitely keep an eye on this as it looks like their systems doesn't automatically handle it.  All 3 of my recent 7 day cruises we're shorted 7 points.

Good point.  I cruise solo often and about 1/3 of the time the system doesn't apply the double properly.  A quick call to the C&A team has fixed it every time without any hassles.

I'm using the same strategy.  Booked as far as I could right now, all in JS or above because I remembered back when they changed it.  Raye, hearing that they grandfathered it for you is hope that they might do the same if they change it again.

After your child hits 18 is there a certain amount of time they need to cruise or will they loose their status?

Under the current C&A rules, once a tier level is attained (even if it is “inherited” from a parent or significant other), they retain that tier level forever or until they attain the next higher level on their own, based on actual cruise points earned.
