Alaska sailing without Canada stop

Recommended Posts

Better hope that they extend that work around if you want to cruise in 2022 to Alaska...I highly doubt it will be business as usual here by then.

75% of population doubled dosed to remove restrictions here is the current political garbage they are feeding us. I would bet AGAINST ever reaching those #'s in Canada....

I predict that masks will be here for ever based on current government speak and mandates. We are currently locked down and not even able to visit dying family in our own country......we are at 50% one dose and 3% second dose and vaccines have been out for almost 6 months.,...

Just saying...

I'm pondering an Alaskan cruise next May/June 2022. But really hesitate to book one out of Vancouver for that reason

Book it and let RCG cancel it or revise it with a date change and/or starting/ending port change. We're set to cruise from Seward to Vancouver (popular excursions already purchase, too). I'm hoping they can figure it out and move debark to Seattle. I'm holding off on airfare until next year (kills me to do it, though).

Victoria, BC do not want cruise ships.  This is win-win!

I am sure this is the feeling of many Canadians...along with keeping the borders closed, masks on, no social interaction and full government control and loss of liberties.

As I said, don't count on anything changing in Canada by even next year from where it is now!

Canada to America - "Your cruise ships can't come here"

America to Canada - "OK that's a little crazy, let's work things out"

Canada to America - "Nope, health and safety, health and safety!"
America to Canada - "OK we'll skip Canada then"

Canada to America - "Whoa let's not get crazy here, let's work things out"

Everything is better when you don't have to deal with Canada!....I have known this for along time......lol

Actually, I always enjoyed the stops in Victoria and will miss them if they don't return. (even though the cruise industry doesn't really have a choice)

Now everyone's cell phone plan works in every port! (even most cheap prepaid plans)

Another benefit... you won't get stuck with $17 worth of coin in your pocket.  Those loonies and toonies are heavy!

The bad news...  Your 19 and 20 y.o. kids can't drink in port.  The good news... you don't have to pay for it because your 19 and 20 y.o. kids can't drink in port

They earned it. Made their bed and need to sleep in it! This isn't some damn joke by they treated it like it was...

100% BANG ON....so I hope that they actually do exclude Canada for at least a few years to teach then a lesson..sometimes tough love is needed.

Lets be honest..its never been about health and safety or following the science.....lol...it's just Canada being Canada..run by the closest thing to a dictatorship/socialist country when its come to Covid and all the implications and fall out!

From the itinerary updates page

Serenade of the Seas July 4 to July 11: A new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. Instead of departing from Canada, we’ll now have roundtrip Alaskan sailings departing from Seattle, Washington.

Ovation of the Seas July 2 to August 6: Ovation of the Seas was to resume operations from Seattle, Washington beginning July 2021 before completing Hawaii and Transpacific itineraries in September 2021. However, a new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. As a result, these sailings will be cancelled.

Seems the Ovation part wasn't exactly proofread very well
