"Cruise Big, or Go Home" – OA 3/10/2024-3/17/2024

Final thoughts on this sailing overall:

There were a ton of kids this week, but expected because it’s spring break. Some kids were parented well, some not so much. The elevators were slow and stuffy all week. Not sure if that is because our last sailing was Icon and we were totally spoiled by those destination elevators. Overall, service was excellent, and food was pretty decent throughout.

Oasis is showing its age in some areas, but not unexpected. Rumour has it that they will be refreshing some guest areas and cabins during dry dock. Time will tell.

Final thoughts on the Royal Loft Suite:

I don’t know how I am going to come back from this cabin. But I will have to find a way to. We cherished our time in our room this week.

The hot tub was used every day, we spent time on the balcony every day. It was so awesome to have all the space, most times I would shout something to the kids and they would not even hear me. There was almost too much space in that room, but that is not a complaint lol

I loved everything about that suite, but if I was to point out two things that I did not like, it would be the noise from the back sports area, and the master shower. You can hear everything from the basketball area, FlowRider, even Aqua80 if you are out on the balcony. This room has pretty much helped us decide that that we would never want a crown loft that faces the aft. Way too much noise. The master shower area is not that private. When we were parked next to Carnival Mardi Gras in Nassau, I really felt like I had to duck because the upper decks of that ship are almost as high as oasis. Next to Freedom in PDCC I did not feel as visible. However, if one is in the shower at night, and someone else is in the hot tub, well let’s just say they will most definitely get a very well lit shadow puppet show if you are using the shower closest to the window. 🙈

Question, so besides the elevators being a noticeable difference, after sailing Icon is sailing Oasis a let down compared to Icon?  On our icon cruise coming up in August we have some people going on it that will be their first cruise. I’m afraid it will ruin it to go on anything smaller and older after

Our Genie Shane 💜

We have known Shane since 2019 so there was already some familiarity here. However, we have learned this week that knowing Shane, and having him as our Genie are two different things.

There are Genies, and then there is Shane. That is the best way I can describe our experience with him. We have never had terrible genie in any of our sailings, but Shane stands out not because of the grandiose gestures, but the small little things all throughout the week. Those small little things, add up to reflect a Genie who adores his job, genuinely listens to his guests, and takes time to build a relationship with them. This is why people adore Shane.

Any genie can send food, decorate, and throw a party, but very few will become unforgettable because their thoughtful small gestures truly show that their guests, and their satisfaction, are their number one priority. This is Shane. He is all that, and more, a truly unique Genie.

No, I was perfectly happy on Oasis this week and did not miss Icon at any point other than the elevators. Every time I used the elevator, I thought of Icon lol

Have a safe trip home. Thanks for sharing your wonderful week.

It was so cute to see how much more beautiful your family continues to be as time goes on. I mean that from an exterior and interior point. I loved that your daughters still wanted physical books and how they still enjoyed dinners and activities together with their parents despite being teenagers.

Safe travels home to your own oasis... Hubby might get flowrider withdrawals being in dry dock.

It's been so enjoyable that you have brought us along with the blogs as your family as evolved.

Your cabin this week was definitely beyond magical.  How you seriously go back to booking any other cabin ever again would be way too hard.  My theory you only live once so.....the next endeavor would be owning your own yacht sailing the seas in retirement.

We can't wait to see prom and graduation pictures

Yes, we are grateful they still want to hang out with the old people lol. And I most definitely have raised two readers. While waiting for our plane right now…

I agree, and i do hope they give those rooms a refresh. We were fine in the OP since it's newer, but when i had a fleeting thought of downgrading to save a few thousand dollars in the Star Loft, i couldn't do it. I stand by my 90s College Dorm Room decor comment. 😁

As always, thanks for taking us along! Have a safe trip home!

Have a safe trip home!  I’ve never been in a CLS but the aft balcony is very unappealing to me.  I love looking at the ocean so hoping the ATS for our anniversary will be a balance.

already landed.  Seems like a lifetime ago and not 8 days that our flight was cancelled.  So glad we made our spring break!

 Safe trip home!

Uh oh. Who left the jacket

Yours truly…me lol

I already had a long sleeve on this morning and I was planning to throw it into my bag for the plane and for when we get back to Detroit. But I totally forgot about it and realized once we were waiting for Lyft that I had left it. I messaged Shane right away and he located it. We’ll see how this return process goes. First time for everything 😉

Ha! Batman left his phone on the counter on our Norwegian cruise. Of course he realized it outside the terminal and i messaged the concierge. He found it immediately, but we were being ushered into the car and told to move along at that point. I think it cost us $20 to ship back? More with insurance. It took awhile, so i wish you better luck.

But XS? Don't waste my time! 😆

Thank you for the blog! Looks like you had an amazing time on Oasis with the kids! Despite only being confined to the FlowRider viewing bench for 90%? of the time 🤣 Safe travels home and look forward to your next blog whenever that is. Always love reading your insights.

(Can someone tell Royal to send an Oasis class ship down to Australia?)

What a great week of information and pictures and entertainment!  If I didn’t know any better I’d believe I just got off a cruise ship!  😉

Hope your trip home was carefree and on time!  Enjoy the next few months as your daughter moves along the path of maturity, adventure, fun, sadness, and the future!  The best is yet to come for all of you!  XO

I’m supportive, but not crazy! He was out there on his own for most of the time lol

Hey, did you get a 10% FCC like Andrew?! Maybe for the water? That would be 😎

We did. The letter was very non-specific. It said because of “inconveniences while sailing this week”. But I will gladly take it! Let’s see what they actually send.

I can only imagine. But ... IME (which is based on the only time this happened to us, on Norwegian), that each of you will get a credit, based on fare. So now ... at least in my head ... you NEED to have one more cruise with the 4 of you.  😀

That is my assumption too. Thank goodness it's not a shady math booking lmao

Thanks for this blog, the only problem is with it over, I feel like I've been told to leave the ship.

Problem is, I was actually told I had to leave the ship! 😂 thank you for following along!

keep an eye on that letter, sabrina. it may not impact you since you guys were in the RLS, but i had to follow up several times with royal for our oasis FCC from february.

Yikes. Thanks for the heads up. I want to use the FCC for my Europe sailing this July. But final is coming up next month for that so it doesn't leave me much time. After that sailing, I am not sure when the next one is with all 4 of us and that FCC is only good for 1 year.

For anyone wondering, I completed the process for the return of my Vuori hoodie today. We decided to ship it to our U.S. mailbox for several reasons. The main one was that the link Royal sent me only accepts US addresses. If I want it shipped internationally, I would have to wait for another email from Royal, and who knows how long that will take.

So with that in mind, domestic shipping for a single hoodie came to $47.86. Lesson learned. I need to do a better final sweep next time, or book a smaller cabin so that things don’t hide as well 😉
