LOVE seeing the ICONic new ship from Royal! Here's to many more exciting days ahead for all of you.

Legitimate question though: Why does everyone not like the Windjammer? 🤣

I mean my guess would probably be because the food is kinda crap?

I don't mind Windjammer food honestly... but that's just me, as long as I'm fed, I'm a happy camper, but interesting to get other people's takes on the Windjammer.

I don’t personally like the windjammer, however, it’s a better option than the main dining room IMHO. The food in the dining room has gone way down hill & fast!

The last time I was on Ovation (March, 2023), the MDR food was nothing to scoff at, like it wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything amazing either, but I remember when I sailed on her back in 2016 - because she was still relatively new at the time, I remember the MDR food being so good! Maybe for my upcoming New Zealand cruise... I'll avoid the MDR and finally try one of the specialty dining venues...

I liked the WindJammer much better when they served you after the shut down. The food was hit or miss but not horrible. The reason I don't avail myself to it anymore is I can't wrap my head around how manic plus peoples ugly  behaviors when they are pouncing on the food. Hand washing seems to be lacking as well, the environment makes me unsettled, not so much the offerings.

I’m with you on that. The behavior of some hangry folks and the lack of hygiene keeps me out of there for the most part. There’s seriously no shortage of food on the ship so I always manage to eat (mainly speciality dining).

For me, I used to love the WJ in our early days of cruising. Now, I avoid the WJ like the plague for several reasons:

- way to crowded

- like @Neesa said, wish they would serve because so many people don’t have proper buffet etiquette

- the food quality is no longer that good, and it’s very repetitive

I see, yeah, these are valid and fair points and I can understand why people would be turned off by the Windjammer.

I do try to avoid the Windjammer during the peak hours - but we have no choice for breakfast... might just order Room Service this time or try somewhere else. But usually I go around 7-8pm where it's not as crowded because most people are either at the shows or the casino/other activities - anyone recommend any good places to have breakfast on QN class ships?

You're right about the proper buffet etiquette, so many times I've seen people just grab the food with their hands or they drop something on the bench or the counter next to them and then they just leave it there or put it back into the food.

Absolute Zero (ice rink) requires being able to go down stairs. There's a single wheelchair elevator lift to get down.

I've watched a ton of ship your videos and the placement of Absolute Zero is the one things that seems really poorly designed - all the other areas seems to flow well with multiple ways to get there but the ice rink you seem to have to go through Playmakers and then down stairs to get there (besides the one small elevator)

If QN has cafe 270 then you should get breakfast there and stay out of the WJ.

I'm looking at the deck plan.....Can you enter Absolute Zero on deck 5 (no Playmakers)?  Or is it only accessible from deck 6 (Playmakers)?

Going to second only one way intened in/out.

It does look like they could allow access via the track. Signage above the doors say "Royal Promenade" with an arrow pointing towards the front. However, I'm thinking it is geared more for emergency egress than general crowd flow.

There's no other way in but I think they designed it to allow exiting to the track around the Royal Promenade. Oasis does the same thing when they open some crew only doors in Studio B when the show is over and it dumps into the hallways to Casino Royale.  Exiting up stairs only would be a huge choke point.

Wizard of Oz tonight. Expectations are high, we have heard nothing but good things about this production.

I can’t wait to hear the review of this. Although I might have to show my kids the original movie before we go on the ship as they probably have no clue what it is. Sorry I know, parent fail right there.

Yeah, QN has two70. I've never tried two70 for breakfast, but I have tried the Solarium Bistro - the Solarium Bistro is definitely less ratchet than the WJ buffet (for lack of better word). Maybe this time I can convince my dad to not go into the WJ at all... unless we absolutely have to.

Lines long at slides and flowrider?

Hubby said it was “not too bad”. Today on a sea day, for mixed wave, he waited about 30mins for each turn. If that is “not too bad” for the FlowRider, I don’t know what is considered bad lol

How was the lobster Mac and cheese?

Really good! Real lobster pieces in it, small but there, and full of flavour.
Also, we had to ask if the CK was rounded up from SY cause the chicken noodle soup was identical to the original one we fell in love with on SY last NYE. Our waiter was not sure which chef made the soup lol

Your husband must be very patient if 30 minutes is "not too bad"... I waited almost 30 minutes just to take 2 photos with Mickey Mouse on the Disney Cruise I went on last week... 30 minutes felt like almost an hour cause there was so many people... Haha about the kids!  😛 Glad you are having a great time though!

Wizard of Oz was amazing! The feedback from others is correct; by far the best Royal Caribbean production to take the stage! After the show we thought about all the other shows that we have seen on Oasis/Quantum class and this one cannot be beat. It was 90 mins long, and retained pretty much the storyline from the original movie. Really talented cast as well. They asked for everyone to put away their recording devices so only this one curtain call photo 😉

My brother heard Icon has the Wiz and was super excited, I had to break his heart and say it's a Royal original production of the Wizard of Oz. But he is like maybe Icon for 2026, October/November???

I was on the fence as well as I am a huge fan of the original movie and Wicked. But this one was really well done. Even though it’s an original production, you can tell the poured tons of money into this thing, the set design, the special effects, costumes, all done well. And like I mentioned, they did not deviate much from the movie storyline at all.

He loves the original and the Wiz is his favorite because Diana Ross is Dorothy in that one. I'm glad it's a good show. Hopefully by Jan 2025 it will be available for a prime or instant reward and it can be a group cruise for us.....I can lose the vintages and my mother🤣🤣😂🤣🤣.

@bobroo a Royal Bling update.
Here are my unfiltered, unbiased thoughts. Keep in mind that I am used to Effy pieces and comparing in my mind against those pieces.

Everything in this store is real gold or silver, it’s not costume jewelry. The cheapest piece is a plain silver plated ring with the royal logo, and it looks like costume jewelry. The most expensive is the goblet, and we all know the cost of that ($100,000).

The guys that I spoke to in here said Royal collaborated with Effy to bring this collection forward. If that is true, it explains some of the similarities in the designs of the rings. However, the price is not similar at all.

Take these earrings for example. 1.4 carat, 14k gold. Their cost is $4495 for these earrings. I have a very similar pair from Effy that was a fraction of the cost.

This bracelet here (pardon the bad photo quality), approx $1500. My similar Effy piece was also less than that.
IMG_9911.thumb.jpeg.14172708000d12b003f6d0ba1c79d305.jpeg

Guess the cost of this?

IMG_9914.thumb.jpeg.913321840bebd6d4cd26b17b3be89110.jpeg

If you guess $49,800 you are correct! Lol

Some other random pics.

One of the guys here told me they will discount for Diamond Plus members. When I inquired if it was the 15% logo discount, they would not commit to saying that. So I am not sure what/how much they are discounting. But you might be able to make a deal here.

Overall, it’s an interesting concept by Royal. Would I ever buy anything here? No way. I would rather spend my money on Effy pieces. But I can see how some people might spend their disposable income here.

And with that, I am off to the actual Effy store on Deck 5 😂
