Chirag Shah
I've been hearing a lot about this sandwich. Any experiences here? How good is it exactly? I'll be on the symphony from April 11-18. Can't wait! Thanks.
WAAAYTOOO
The Kummelweck is a roast beef on a wonderful roll. If the beef is good quality and they use au jus (as opposed to thick gravy - yuk), it is very good. If the meat is tough or they use gravy vs au gus, it is an awful thing. ellcee
Depends on the ship if it's good or not. Had a great one on Anthem and a yucky one on Harmony. The cut of the meat was the issue. Lovetocruise2002
basil
Not an answer to your question, but a hey! Me and my family are on the same cruise
gmanager
IMO just okay on GOS. Not great. Chadster

FManke
Ditto on Serenade. Read all the hype. Was super excited and meh. Going to give it another try on Rhapsody in Oct.
Baked Alaska
Went to Park Cafe on Radiance of the Seas this past July and asked for the Kummelweck sandwich. He looked at me like I was speaking another language. He had no idea what I was talking about. I asked "do you have a roast beef sandwich on a roll?" I was handed a roast beef sandwich, on a roll. There were no sauces or juices served on the side or on the sandwich. WAAAYTOOO and Chadster
twangster
You might want to fix the thread title. Road Beef sounds like road kill. Baked Alaska, WAAAYTOOO, rjac and 3 others 5

loki007
if you are familiar with a Beef on Weck you will be disappointed. I am from buffalo and also read about this sandwich. Huge disappointment compared to what I can get at a gas station here at home. WAAAYTOOO, Mrs. Regular, Chadster and 1 other 2

Lovetocruise2002
Agree with @ellcee, ship dependant. Loved it on Anthem, hated it on Harmony. Second time on Anthem was just ok. The cut of meat is not always great quality. Ogilthorpe
Mrs. Regular
OP, are you from Western NY where we actually KNOW how to do a beef on weck right? If so, be warned. I did not approve of them on the Rhapsody, but on other ships your mileage may vary. I don't get the buzz about these sandwiches in general, but I suppose since I grew up with them they don't hold so much luster for me. loki007
Mike Cruz
We have been on Allure, Harmony and Symphony - We make it a point to bee line there as soon as possible - they are open for lunch on day one. Get there early on seas days as there can be quite a line. There is nothing better than the fresh baked buns, tender beef and the Au Jus. This along with one of the salads they make to order and a cold beverage just can't be beat. We have even skipped the main dining room at dinner to enjoy these great sandwiches. Sweety
In Chicago, we have italian beef sandwiches. We get extra slices and the Au jus is right on time. Taste like a bit of Chicago on the cruise. On one cruise they had open faced philly steak sandwiches. They were delicious.
SpeedNoodles
We were excited to try it on Ovation, and found it to be not remotely worth the walk down to get it. We were going to try it again on Symphony and totally forgot that it, and Park Cafe, existed.
wstephensi
Allure several years ago was great. Harmony this past summer, not so much. WAAAYTOOO
