Dinner was very good. I had the garlicky shrimp and Dan had the seafood linguine. I was surprised that he chose the pasta dish as we had both eaten pasta for lunch at the B2B luncheon and Dan is not much of a pasta guy. But he did, and he said it was very good. I absolutely love their olive bread and you could tell that it had just come out of the oven. Oh, Lordy ! We both won a bit in the casino. We broke even on Dancing Drums and then played a bit of UTH and both cashed out ahead. I suppose my purple drawers we “red enough” to bring me a little luck ! Sea day tomorrow. We’re on our way to Puerto Plata, DR where we will be snorkeling with the sea lions and the sharks !9 points -

Proof I got off the ship today! Then got right back on My first visit to Grand Turk... I guess it's convenient to have the beach *right* there at the pier, but you have to want to do the beach. There's also a pool at Margaritaville. They offered some tour the island and snorkel trips and rum tasting excursions but I didn't venture out of the port area so I couldn't tell you what the rest of the place is like. The water was very pretty and you could see lots of colorful fish by the pier and an occasional ray swim by. I'd imagine snorkeling here would be decent. This was a replacement stop for Labadee which does not have Effy, Harley Davidson, Ron Jon, or Pirhana Joe's so it's up to you to decide if it's a worthy substitution.3 points -

For us, it depends who the cruise director is. That is how we decide if we are going to attend or not. If it's a high energy, funny, CD, we try our best to go. Much like The Quest, IMO, the CD makes or breaks that show. However, our last two sailings, we have skipped (even one with Ricky Matthews who we love), because of the times that others have mentioned above. They keep doing the show at 2:30pm now and that does not work as well for us.3 points -
OMG, I hate the dancing and singing. And it's always the macarena, where they insist on crowd participation and my service begins to suffer.3 points

I think this room does sleep additional guests….it seems like the couch would fold out although I haven’t tried it to see. I think you might be right about the noise….i have already heard a few grumblings in the hallway. One thing I will say about the PV room, it was QUIET ! We’ve stayed in this cabin category before and while the location is not my favorite, I do like the space and the view. This particular room is located on the port side and has a totally unobstructed view and of course, has the floor-to-ceiling windows. Some of the cabins in this category look out over the bow and IMO the view is much diminished by views of the ship’s structure and hardware such as antennae and comm towers, etc. Dan has gone for his daily sauna (which is now VERY convenient). I took a bit of a nap but it was really more of a “rest”. I never actually fell asleep. I’m not used to all the light !3 points

Sorry Turnaround went so poorly. Hopefully dinner and your new view make up for it. BTW, I stay in the real dungeons... you had a window!3 points

Back onboard for the last leg. This is a 9 night cruise with the exact same itinerary as leg #1, 2 weeks ago. TAD was kind of a mess although it didn’t really impact us much. More of a problem for new cruisers boarding and, of course, for the crew. Apparently, the number of folks with “Account issues” was enormous, which caused a 2+ hour delay in boarding of new guests. When I passed by GS ~8AM, the line stretched all the way to the entrance of the MDR. I should have sensed, then, that this was going to cause issues. Apparently, it did. Finally, some time around 11:45, they began the B2B parade. Everything went smoothly once we got started and the B2B luncheon, which was supposed to start at 11:30, got underway at around noon. Presumably, general boarding began shortly after that. As was the case with leg #1, our Loyalty gifts were incorrect. On leg #1, we got a bottle of St Michelle “champagne” rather than the Chandon “champagne” that we have chosen. On this leg, the champagne was again wrong, as well as missing Cokes and missing water. We strolled down to the Loyalty Ambassadors desk and she, I’m sure, will rectify everything. We had to change cabins on this leg and we are now in a panoramic OV cabin on deck 12. These are the “newer” rooms created when they downsized the spa. It’s much bigger than our Promenade View dungeon and the sunshine and view are an extremely welcome change. I’m not as fond of the location of this new room but I’m glad to be here. We’re pulling away from the dock right now (4:45) so the last adventure has begun ! Dinner tonite at Giovanni’s (first of our BOGOs) at 7:00.3 points

I used the Facebook group's slot pull as an excuse to take a break from my work and leave my room. But I got there too late and they had already started so I played a little video poker instead and I'm up $25 for the cruise and have 28 casino points despite not wearing red undergarments Since it was 2:30 and I have 5:30 early seating in MDR, of course I went to the WJ before it closes at 3:00. They had shrimp pad thai...burger bun for reference.3 points -

I agree. Oasis class ships offer more activities compared to Voyager class ships. However, in my own opinion, Adventure is more akin to what cruising use to be. By this I mean, enjoying the pools while at sea, having a great meal, and of course, enjoying the ports the ship visits. I think this will lead to a more laid back environment, which I am really looking forward to..... and to have a few Gin and Tonics.2 points

Themed Cruises - Legends of Rock on Indy of the Seas
PhillyLady and one other reacted to stts for a topic
Theres a bunch of different kinds of these cruises, but I been on all 11 of the Rock Legends Cruises. They are charity run so they seem to attract more of the big names on each cruise. I don't go for the cruise amenities. I go because the aging big names are performing 3 to 20 feet in front of me. That is a thousand plus dollar ticket to any shows on land. And theres over 20 bands per cruise. And if that is not enough, I run my video cameras in their face with 300x zoom. I can count their nose hairs if I want. On land you go thru metal detectors and no video cameras allowed. Only cell phones get a pass any more and those are only now getting better. Then you get meet and greet on elevators and toilets and buffet lines. It's like the legends are just like us. They get pestered abit, but it's not like what happened to the Beatles 50 years ago. So I dont book balconies and opt for a port hole room, since Im not in the room much. I played golf on only one of the 11 cruises and only because a lady asked me really nice to join her there. I rarely do the formal dinning because its small portions and way too slow. I heap it on at the Buffet and wolf it down as I look over the schedule for the rest of the days bands. It's almost impossible to see ALL of the bands so Im always running around to all the venues to see as many as possible. To get up to the front rows you have to wait for over an hour and even longer. 2 hour waits for the theater. I rarely watch at the theator. The Deck stage and the Studio stage is standing room in front of the stage. So that is where I mostly go. It's loud, but they perform right in front of you. It's so amazing. Sammy Hagar pouring his rum into my drink mug. Same with Rick Springfield. They both partnered to make their own rum brand after Sammy sold his Tequila brand. The access to this kind of rock and roll is matched by no other venue. I am so tired when its over in 5 days, but then I play with pics and videos all the rest of the year, and I am floored by what I did. Some people complain about service compared to regular cruises. But Im glad staff stays out of my way. On the first cruise staff came out and sold drinks at the theator all thru the shows. That has never happened again. Fabulous. Room service is as friendly as any other cruise and I leave them a tip. Rock Legends Cruise 2025 will be different. The woman that created this cruise passed away. A young lady has replaced her, and she seems too young for the job. I have not bought an advance ticket and may finally miss a Rock Legends Cruise. They started booking bands much too late and I think most big names have their schedules already finalized. But it has been 11 fabulous cruises. I stand all day every day, but there is plenty of seating for those that sit until everybody has to stand, hah.2 points -

It is quite feasible to do on your own. Only difference with ship excursion is those groups get on tenders 1st. Every time we go, night before we get a tender ticket for non ship excursion. We have gotten off ship in no time and explored on our own. There will be many tender boats operating. Public transportation is very easy to use there.2 points -
Interesting question. Traditionally L & M was featured in the main theater at night during the latter part of cruise. Seems like last 2 cruises I've been on they scheduled it for 2:30 pm in the theater. We usually attend but did not because.......2:30 pm is prime pool, solarium, or nap time. At least for us.2 points

@LILBEAN55 Nope! Don't concern yourself. Of course every sailing is so subjective but while I miss the Aqua Theater Shows and there is no Broadway type shows.... she is nice. Older yes, smaller yes, but still plenty to do. I have only sailed her once before but I have her booked again in August and I'm happy to do it. All the hype will always be focused on the new ships (alot more $$) As a Voyager class she still has ice shows which are fun as well as additional entertainment in the theater. I really enjoy my Oasis class sailings but Adventure has lots of beautiful and fun things of her own. As with every ship the food is hit or miss but I find that across the fleet. This itinerary is wonderful, I'm sure you will have a great time. Go to the Cruise Compass section on this website and click Adventure, you can see from past sailings how packed your days can be. Enjoy and of course it us what you make it. Go in knowing you are going to have a great vacation, I'm sure you will!1 point

If they're open (not sure about how the public holiday might affect that), be sure to stop for cupcakes at the place linked below. They are very yummy. About a 20-25 minute walk from the ship, straight through the pedestrian shopping street. https://www.fjordnorway.com/en/food-and-drink/jablom-bakst-cupcakehuset-haugesund This is also the route you would take if you wanted to do the coastal walk, which also takes you past the national monument. There are public toilets at the campsite there (always useful to know ). https://www.fjordnorway.com/en/inspiration/day-trips/haugesund/walk-the-coastal-trail-in-haugesund1 point -

Coco Loco and Labadoozie using old recipe - worth getting one. Coco Loco and Labadoozie using a premix and one kind of rum - not worth wasting my voucher.1 point -
One of the few perks of sailing with tons of kids during school breaks on Oasis class... I have yet to ever see a truly crowded CL since they started vouchers (obviously the DL was crowded back during the open bar happy hour days). It's a veritable ghost town in the mornings when I go to get my coffee. I was usually the only one there besides the crew member putting out breakfast at 7am on Wonder last month during spring break. Granted I go on the early side (sometimes crazy early just to get coffee to go), but even if I went back with my wife at 8:30 or something, there were less than 10 people there. It was a bit more crowded during nightly "happy hour" (should be called snack time) but there were always plenty of seats.1 point

RestingBird reacted to ScottishRobbie for a topic
Another reason I feel it's becoming unpopular is because quite often they will now keep both couples on stage sitting back to back, whereas they used to take one set off the stage while the questions were being asked1 point -
Yeah, I think you’re right. I sort of felt like that the last time but was thinking maybe it was due to less energy with the audience being so small. I do think in general for shows and small events they could be marketed more through the app. For this specific show they should have different questions pretty often. I mean there’s at least an hundred different questions you can ask any married couple. There’s so many newlywed board games they can borrow from. Some of the entertainment is based on the participants, and if the host isn’t pulling information out of them to get a story the show can become very dull.1 point

I was over the bow and right under the captain's bridge on Mariner, it was very hard to take naps during the day. I believe it was room number 1821 or 1812. It was a view of the antenna and other hardware. But the sun from the floor-to-ceiling windows were breathtaking. I just found it odd at the time that it slept 4. Hopefully dinner is/was great tonight.1 point

I feel that we were very fortunate as we have always homeschooled, and the shut down barely registered for us. We just stopped sports and moved piano and scouts to Zoom calls. School went on like normal for us. I can only imagine how hard it was for everyone - kids, parents, and teachers - to be thrown into that without any sort of transition time or process to rely on. We have really enjoyed Paradise Beach in the past and are looking forward to enjoying it again. I'll be sure to get lots of photos that day.1 point
