Hello! Have not been there yet, but we are going in july. So did a lot of research. My mom has visited Pompeii before, so she chose Capri this time. It really looks beautiful! Some beautiful sights there!(me and my kids are staying on board and have reserved a Casita for the day since we reckon the boat will be "empty", and since mom did not recommend Pompeii for kids)

Norway - Excursions and general advice

Hey! So 1. Shops are closed on may 17th, but some restaurants and gas stations are open. All cities/towns have 1-3 parades (one for kids only, schools etc, one for everyone. As well as local parades in the villages. I do not know Haugesund too well, but I will see if I can find their program and translate it. I would def reccommend catching a parade, you will get to see the wobderful national costume "bunad" many cities have funfairs and games and activities too. Food: kids in Norway have the tradition of eating as many hot dogs and ice creams as they can. So thats for the kids. For adults salmon with potatoes for dinner and strawberries with whipped cream for dessert is the traditional thing.. Also waffels, always eat waffels, if you can get them with ice cream and strawberries even better! And I just checked their webpage, no program is ready yet, but it will be published here soon: https://www.haugesund.kommune.no/17-mai/nasjonaldagen/17-mai-time-for-time.10817.aspx Then you can just copy paste it into Google translate Hope that helps -

Today I opened my email inbox amd there were 8 mails from Royal with the topic "Change confirmation" and my first thought was "Nooooooo not again!" I opened the first of the email fearing the worst, but this time I was lucky, all 8 mails (2 each for the 4 of us, for some reason) had the same content - one of our excursions now start at 08.30 instead of 08 40 , I mean I would have been fine with them telling me this onboard in July... oh well, just happy it was not another cancellation -

Instead of making yet a new topic, I decided to add some cruise related news from Norway to this post: Norwegian newspapers report that this year there will be 5049 cruise ship dockings in Norwegian ports, a new record (pre covid record was 1985...), and that co2 pollution from cruise ships this year will SURPASS domestic flights! So as much as you all love visiting my country, it is understandable that they are limiting cruise ship visits from next year... -
I dont have any close to port, but i have stayed 2 times at hotel barcelona cathedral, it is very central, but in a quite quiet quarter in the old town.

Would you believe my bad luck?!: I was supposed to spend 4 days driving around Romania (he drives, i do not) with my best friend from today to sunday, but he got stomach flu so we had to cancel, so long story short I lost another 500$... and thats 2 of 4 trips this year cancelled... i am apparently not supposed to travel without my kids this year (luckily the 2 trips I am doing with them, Cruise in July and Cyprus in october is still on...) *crawling under a rock to hibernate* -

Thank you, I am really happy. And RC made me an Ambassador instead of a digruntled customer by doing this, so I am sure it will be worth it for them in the end. So I am staying in the community -
Hello! Just wanted to update on this. When it got cancelled I sent them one email, and Later when I did not hear anything I sent a new one. About a month after cancellation i got a final NO from RC Norwegian customer service on refund for my flight, even if KLM and travel insurance said RC should refund me. I was not happy but I put it away, however 2 weeks ago the US customer service replied to my 2nd email, and confirmed that they had talked to KLM and that RC would refund me 3900kr (380$) for my flight, and today I got the refund. I must say (sorry If I am prejudiced) that I never thought US customer service would be more pro customer than the Norwegian one, taking in regard we have one of the worlds strictest customer protection acts, however they proved me wrong. And this has definitely made me view RC in a totally different light, and made me look forward to my upcoming cruise with Oasis a lot more than I did, and I am sure I will spend way more than what it cost them to refund me in the future, and ofcourse talk good of them to followers, customers etc. so It will definitely be worth it for them. So a happy ending to a sad story!
