There was someone at my previous job (I just started a new one last month) who would yell this periodically from his cube. I would be really, really okay if I never heard that phrase again.

  3. We have fun here, share info and don't complain....too much...unless it's about a certain pizza on board or RC's math computations on the drink package discounts. But, it is GREAT place to hang out and learn.

  4. So during the pre-cruise survey I mentioned I'd love to have dinner with Bruce Springsteen and Poppy and Branch from Trolls. The other day Jay showed up with a stuffed Poppy and Branch. Tonight when we got back from dinner on our table was this book.... I no longer think that they don't read the surveys.. Wow

The policy is no wet bathing suites in the dining rooms. Wet shower clothes are not addressed in the dining or formal night policy.

  7. One challenge to keep in mind is luggage. If you're using luggage valet, then this becomes a non-issue, as ideally you don't want to tour Ft Lauderdale carrying all your bags. Staying close to the port, you could look at the Ft Lauderdale Beach area. Starting at The Elbow Room and going north leaves you countless bars, restaurants, people watching, etc. If you want a quieter beach/boardwalk experience go south to Hollywood Beach. If you're "beached out", then you can head to Las Olas, a shopping and dining area near downtown Ft Lauderdale, where you can also find a near children's museum, and some small historic sites. Other completely random suggestions: New York Grilled Cheese - awesome grilled cheeses (many options) and decent beer selection. Funky Buddha Brewery - fantastic beers and a good restaurant, all while being reasonably priced and spacious. Across the street from FB (literally like 20 feet away) is 10th Level, a video game bar. Looking for uppers rather than downers? Alchemist Coffee has great coffee in a unique environment with indoor and outdoor seating. Let us know what type of things you're looking for and I might have some better suggestions.

  8. I did fiddle around with that before. I even called and they added my other email address to their list. They told me to call back in a few weeks if I did not get anything. I did. That was two years ago. I've already given up lol.

  10. Yes. We leave them behind once a year for a cruise. It's usually one with them and one without. But the Gr.10 year doesn't work, cause I will be working that year and can't take the days off. And one of these days, we all have to meet lol. My husband said this exact same thing a few days ago.

  13. So happy days! Keeping my fingers crossed... Submitted my RMA over the weekend. Arrived to Samsung the other day. Processed today. Notes say "Replaced PBA". Going to guess no water damage was found. That or they didn't really care and replaced the entire unit. Status is showing "Close - Prepare for Shipping"

  15. Not sure what sail date you are looking but I just did a mock booking in March 2019 and it still shows up. It would be listed in the description.

    Empress

Just did a 5 night Feb 3 - 8 on Empress. There is no CL or DL. There was a sail away party for Diamond and up on the patio behind Bolero's. The Viking Crown was open for D+ and P from 5 - 8:30 PM daily. Had the regular 3 drinks loaded to the sea pass card daily. That is the MSC Seaside in the background, had just gotten off that one and crossed the street for this one. Pic is sail away from Miami at Bolers's

  18. Sorry, if we’re talking shrimp then I’ll have to insist on cooking up some shrimp etoufée with dirty rice. No one else here besides my BIL wants my Cajun cooking (courtesy of Chef Paul’s classic cookbook), and he rarely visits on his own, so I have to insist when I get out-of-towners with discerning palates.

  24. Actually, since you have an iPhone 8 I'd make one other suggestion, if you want to start seriously learning the manual camera controls and getting a little more control over your pictures, rather than letting the phone make all the decisions. There's an app named "Halide" that has gotten a lot of positive reviews. It's $5, and while it has its own automatic mode that's generally gotten good reviews, it also gives you the option of full manual controls while also shooting in RAW format if you want (not required). It's gotten a ton of positive reviews from experienced photographers, and supposedly doesn't have too steep a learning curve. Many controls are gesture based so you don't have to deal with really deep menu controls or the like. This app has become the one after Camera+ that I pretty consistently see as a "must have" app for serious iPhone photography, especially on the newer models that support RAW format. As far as other apps that I'd recommend, there's Camera+ and then a pair of long-exposure / slow shutter apps I've installed for night-time photography: Slow Shutter and NightCap. The latter seems to be the better of the two from playing around with both, but I've kept them since each has slightly different features.

    Travel steamer

I think some of us might be missing the point, it's not whether we can get them on the ship or not, we don't want anything on the ship with a heating element that the Cruise ship company and Coast Guard see as a possible fire threat. Fire on a ship is a bad thing.

I see the guy running that Kickstarter is also named Ari. Must be a total coincidence that you are posting nothing but messages praising it Pretty sure repackaged Flameless Ration Heaters are not allowed on cruise ships.

    Norovirus Breakout....

Here's an interesting cut & paste from what I read online today: "Nearly 200 cases of norovirus at the Winter Olympics have been reported as of Monday, with dozens of staff members being left in quarantine at a remote youth training facility to prevent the spread of the illness, the Korea Herald reported. However, staff members in quarantine said they are given little information and the procedures to keep the virus from spreading are lackadaisical." As far as I know, there are no cruise ship ports in PyeonChang. Hmmm, guess nobody told the participants to washy, washy, washy.

  28. Most pushy place I have experienced for a cruise port. Now that being said, it was great within the wall of the tourist area. I loved the resturtant/bar there(cant remember the name) with the pool and drinks and food.....one of my fave stops for close to port. We ventured outside the walls just for the fun and the experience....yup, it was pretty hectic and crazy. People say Nassau is bad...I beg to differ...Jamaica was hands down the worst for me and anyone in my group that I was with.

    MDR seating

Another benefit of checking out your table as soon as you get on the ship--there can sometimes be a bit of a wait to get in the MDR as people line up to be shown to their table--especially on the first night. You will already know where yours is and can walk right to it.

  33. In the category of first world problems... The on demand movie selection sucks compared to the Harmony. I'm not one to pick a cruise based on their TV offerings but on the Harmony it was like a mini Netflix. On this ship there is maybe 10 movies, only 1 of them is kid friendly. Nassau was hot. I got off for maybe an hour or so. My drink package and speciality dining aren't included on land so the ship was calling my name.

  34. If anyone sees a spacious Oceanview LMK. Upgrading to Pano is not an option. Price goes up significantly because I loose the kids sail free promo. My son told me this morning he was excited for his view of the helipad so...I think I may not have switched anyway because of that view that he's so looking forward to.

  35. Great day today. Lost my CocoCay virginity. Dinner at the Coastal Kitchen was decent. I had the short rib. If you are keeping track, 5 days in a row with red meat. I'm in my happy place. Buffet on the beach was decent. I drank more cocoloccos then then entered on my account. Tender is a pain in the ass. Little one is happy because she met Alex. Wife and I are happy because we're livin' large in a GLS.. and our friend who has never travelled south or on a cruise before is floored with how amazing it is. Our friend is celiac. She is blown away by the level of care and attention to detail the RCI restaurant staff are with her dietary needs. We went Chops last night and we were seated and she informed the host of her celiac condition.. He replied with "I know '. Our server then ensured all appetizers were prepare gluten free so she could share. The lengths they went to ensure her needs were met were mind-boggling.

  36. What a terrible job. Dressing up as a lion. In the Caribbean. Then getting mauled by grubby kids. Mine however just drenched herself in purell before and after meeting Alex. Ps. Don't even think about calling him Jim, Bob, Steve, Mike, Miguel, Ahmad, Rolf, Etc the lion.. It pisses her off immensely. "No Daddy! His name is Alex! Alex the lion Daddy! Stop changing his name. It's Alex"

  37. It's more odd when you dig into the reviews. Breeze Member rating 3.9 in excursions Adventure Member ratings 4.0 in excursions (higher than Breeze) Maybe the Breeze had a good month in 2017 but have since slipped. They are so close it could simply be normal fluctuations. Adventure was impacted by Hurricanes more, went to provide relief to the islands, cancelled cruises, evacuated tourists at zero cost. While it was the right thing to do, displaced guests weren't happy cruisers. The Breeze kept on cruising with guests through it all.

  39. Tickets were given out on day 3. The last sea day prior to CocoCay. The island is beautiful. I'd never been here before. Nicer white sand beaches than Labadee. The waterslide is fun. Buffet was decent. Cocoloccos are delicious. Tendering is a PITA. Thankfully the pier is under construction. I heard today that unlike a June completion date I had previously heard it is now slated for the third quarter of 2018

  40. On the other side of that, I'm actually quite happy to be going in a couple weeks. A big part of San Juan's economy is tourism, and I'm happy to go there and spend money. Old San Juan and major tourist areas have largely bounced back, it's the areas outside the cities and in the suburbs and towns that still appear to be lacking the power and need the most assistance in rebuilding.

  42. We go most nights after we pick the kids up from the kids club around 10pm. I'd say it's edible at best but after a full day of drinking its perfect. Kinda like Denny's for me great after the bar at 2am but terrible any other time of the day.

  44. At midnight after exercising a drink package it's pretty good! Pizza, or any food is very subjective. Some people like a thick crust, some people like a thin crust. No pizza on any ship is going to satisfy pizza connoisseurs everywhere. It's better than Costco pizza, but that too is an opinion. Someone else may love Costco pizza.

  45. This was years ago, but in 2011, we did the same thing. We cruised out of Port Canaveral, then spent 2 nights at Universal Studios. There was no Uber or Lyft at the time, so we got a car service (Ace Luxury Transport). They have what they call a 3-Way Land and Sea package (https://www.aceluxury.com/services/3-way-land-sea-packages/), which gets you from airport to cruise to hotel and back to airport for one package price. It was by far the best decision I made when booking that.

  46. Congrats! I got off of Harmony a few weeks ago and your kids are going to love it! You will never want to sail a different class of ships again after sailing her. Ask away, I live in Fort Lauderdale as well if you have local questions as far as where to stay prior to cruise, activities, dining exc.
