I was going back and forth on whether to upgrade to a suite on my 4 night Liberty to Canada next July.  The price has been about $385 more for a suite guarantee.  It dropped to only $299 more (total) so I figured that was a sign and did the upgrade!  Out of my 4 cruises with 7 rooms booked, 5 rooms have dropped in the past couple weeks.

A few days ago I was able to upgrade from an OV to a spacious balcony and still saved $25. A gty balcony on that sailing had previously been running at $600 more per person than my original OV price so I have to assume that the spacious balcony dropped even more than that.

I wonder if this is a sign that the bubble is starting to burst?

I thought exactly the same thing.  They rode the wave (pun intended).  Now to figure out : economy, cutbacks and they lost their loyal customers who no longer saw the value for the “new way”,  or some other cause?

How do you all get your cruise repriced? I tried calling customer service yesterday and it said the wait time was almost 3 hours! LOL

Try early morning or late night or, accidentally press “new booking” and see if that works.

I figured I would try now and was able to get right through! We are just taking a 4 day cruise in November ( our first Royal cruise) and the price dropped $190 plus we got $100 onboard credit. I'm pretty happy with that. Thanks for the reply!

Your first mistake was not working with a travel agent.

I just text my travel agent and it gets magically done. I never waste my time on the phone with Royal.

To be honest I had no idea that people still use travel agents. I just assumed everyone booked their own trips. I will need to look into that as an option for out next cruise. is there any other advantage of using a travel agent besides them being able to reprice trips?

My favorite advantage is group pricing. Travel agents can put a bunch of cabins on hold when dates are released which locks the pricing in early on which can save you a considerable amount. Sometimes these are also refundable so you don't lose your deposit if you change your mind prior to final payment.  The TA becomes your liaison with the cruise line and can save you from making the phone calls.

To reinforce this point, we just obtained a group rate on a cruise from our agent that was 300 per person less than Royal's online price for similar balcony room. And our room is better than the one Royal "offered". The group rate is refundable deposit, as you noted.
