D+ internet perk explanation please?

We are on an 8 night on the Adventure 07 June 2024. I realized after speaking with @Lovetocruise2002 and reading some additional great information sheets on here internet will not be included in the cabin unless you fork over additional monies. I personally find this insulting. I even sent a very kind and vibrant email to Mr. Bayleys office, they responded enjoy the suite as is. Kindly purchase the additional amenity if you so choose.

Okay, it is what it is I continue to not love that the suites program isn't standardized but I'm part of the problem, lol I booked the cabin anyway!

So to minimize the pain in my wallet can I piggyback the 2 days each of us get? Can I give kiddo all of the D + days? We would get 6 free days in total and that is enough.

If this is possible, how do I do this, does it necessitate me visiting the internet desk every 2 days? This will be the first time trying to use this perk.

I'm really being stubborn as I purchased some specialty dining and an excursion on the cruise planner, but it's the point darn it. I want to continue to feel joy, it just hits different knowing suites on other Royal ships include this amenity.

Rant over, please help?  Oh I'm in 1620 so it's like adding insult to injury🤦‍♀️

This is our 18th Birthday/High School graduation celebration sailing that is why I splurged on this cabin. Sadly I didn't realize it only has one bathroom, oh my! 🤯

You get 2 free days, but you have to wait to get onboard to get it.

This means if you are on a 6-night cruise, when you go to buy an internet package, you'll see an automatic discount applied to regular price of a Voom package of 2 days off.

If you wait until the end of the cruise and buy it on final day or two of the cruise, then it would truly be free.

No, there isn't a standalone package. You could use your D+ to get 1 24 hour pass, but then you're wasting one of the days.

When you log in, you enter name, cabin and year of birth. That finds your coupon to apply to whatever package you want.

So you could let 1 person use the free days for 3 people.

@Neesa This is what you want to do.

And while you know I only moonlight in suites, I agree that at least internet should be included with smaller ship suite perks. They can't give you CK that doesn't exist but internet could easily be made standard across the fleet.

This perk should be better than it is. I love Royal Caribbean but it's horrible the way they do this. The cruise planner should know your status so when you go to book the full internet package for the cruise it recalculates taking off the day or 2 you get with your status. But get what do I know, that makes too much sense

So here's the question I am curious about...for a longer 8-9 night sailing, does the D+ 2 free nights work out better or does buying it in advance on the cruise planner work out better? I don't even know what the onboard price of VOOM is?

$27.99 for 24 hours on board. About 40% more than the typical cruise planner sale.

Using my advanced mathematical prowess (tongue firmly in cheek), I have determined that for 7+ nights it works out slightly less to purchase the package than it does to use the "free" days + pay full price for the remaining days.  Now, to further challenge my already limited math skills, we are also able to use a 30% off Prime (casino) discount for whatever days remain after we use our freebies....so that definitely helps.  Anyway...for any 7+ day cruises that I have booked, I have purchased individual internet plans for myself and Dan (recognizing the ongoing feud regarding individual packages vs multi-device, single person packages).  For all of our cruises less than 7 nights, we are using the freebie + 30% off [casino discount] strategy.  Honestly, I have kinda quit worrying about the cost.  Out of convenience I use the aforementioned strategies and after our 13 October Mariner sailing, I can quit worrying about it !!  Hallelujah !

Thanks !  It cannot get here soon enough !

Yes congrats, we cross over2nd week of September, 1st week of b2b

Btw @twangster has at some point outlined 2nd day stratagy where you go without on boarding day, use spouses 2 free days, the use your 2 days as the discount for remaining day purchase.  I actual made a spread sheet that calculated the doing this vrs pre purchase.

With 3 D+ on board and sharing internet access on an 8 day cruise its practical free

I just did this last week on my cruise.  I was on a 4-day cruise, and I got two free days with my Diamond +.  I waited until the second day and stopped by the WiFi desk and asked them to put 24 hours on my sons account because I already had internet.  Then on the evening of the third day I stopped by and had them put my 24 hours on my son's account.  With 4 family members that are D+ you would be able to do this every day and have internet all week.  Just give your kids the job of stopping by and adding it.

Note:  Last week on the Navigator of the Seas my son was able to do this online College Class without any issues.  I was able to remote into my work servers and do programming on the servers.  I also was able to do several Microsoft Team Meetings.  My son also was able to stream movies when he went to sleep.

Here are my experiences with D+
Internet assistant is typically available a few hours in the morning and then 5-8pm.   I am not a morning person so my interactions took place at 5pm since I do early dining and then am typically off to entertainment.

you can have 2 24 hour passes but the internet person activated the 24 hour pass when I asked for the pass at 5pm with plans to start it at noon the next day, so  quite a few hours were gone.  When I went back to complain -I had made it clear I wanted to be able to activate my pass, I was told I was wrong and had 24 hours. Again I stated I wanted to be able to start my 24 hour pass at noon the next day, was told I could and when I logged in I had lost 19 hours.  So I took a pic and went back again to complain-it was useless.

next sailing, different ship I inquired about the 24 hour pass as opposed to 1 block of 2 days and was told the pass is activated when they give it to me. Very disappointing.

the pass shows on your phone as a 2 day block of time, or I should say 48 hours, which begins when you activate it. On most ships I’ve had my own 1 week of internet purchased and the assistant gave my 2 days D+ to my spouse, but only 1 day at a time, necessitating him to go to the assistant again. 🙄 Last week on Allure they would not give my spouse my 2 days and  instead added it to my account on top of my 1 week package necessitating me to share my password.  It was essentially 1 person 2 devices-which hubby failed to understand and knocked me off the internet when he went from his phone to his iPad. He finally understood to log off his phone to use his iPad. I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t just move my 3 days to him as I’ve had that done.

If  each person is D+ you can see if the assistant would move the days to the one person who you want to have them.  If they won’t, you can each activate your own 2 day package-staggered-and then just give the username and password to the person you want to give the 2 days to.  Each persons block of time is 48 hours.  Using the chart supplied above shows you the idea regarding how to activate the days to maximize the 48 hour passes.
BTW-technically your days are not transferable.  The work around is creating and sharing your username and password when you activate your account.

Can someone help me out here with a few questions:

- Both Hubby and I are D+, which means the two kids are as well. Do we all get 2 days (48hours) free? That would be 8 days total…

- Do these D+ free days come in the form of a pass? It sounds like it from reading previous posts.

- Can we stack these? Meaning can one person get their pass for the first 48 hours, then the next goes and gives it to someone else, etc.?

- the D+ free days are VOOM surf and stream right?

- We are sailing Liberty and trying to figure out a creative way to not get a plan for 4 devices. Trying to make use of the D+ days if we can combine it for one person.

This is why I am #teamOAclass lol

First, yes, kids get internet.

If you want to share the 8 days, have one person use those 8 days, anything like that, here's what I would/will/have done (just with less days)...

Person1 logs in on the app and goes to "purchase" internet. They choose a login and pw and select those 2 free days (maybe they have to do 1 day and then do it again the next day, not sure since we only get 1 day each as Diamond). Regardless, any person on any one device can now use that login/pw.

When Person1 has used up their 48 hrs, Person2 does the same thing. Rinse and repeat for Person3 and Person4.

Hope that makes sense. It doesn't matter whose free 48 hrs you are using on what device at the time, anyone given the login/pw can use it.

EDIT: I now realize if you want 4 devices to be active the whole time, then you may have to somehow transfer everyone's 48 hrs to one person as discussed above and that's not something I'm familiar with as my wife and I are content to just share one account.

We do the "stacking" on all our cruises. The wife is Signature in the Casino which gives her free internet for the cruise and each of us get 2 days for being D+. I use her internet for my work and she uses my 2 days and then her 2 days for a four day total. Since we are in port 3 days then it is not an issue and I am not generally on the 'puter all day. When we log in it typically shows a 24 hour usage and then we choose when we use the second 24. For the wife's 2 days we go to the internet folks and they add that to my account, which the wife uses. We do not worry about sharing each other's password as most of the time it is the same we have used for years.

If you have 4 folks in the same stateroom then you have 2 days each for a total of 8 days. They (you) will have to create the password and it is up to you on the sharing scheme.

You can do it as stated, one day at a time. It shows up as a credit when you go to purchase internet onboard in the app using your name and stateroom number. It's the same place you activate the pre purchased packages though so you have to talk to someone at the VOOM desk to use the free D/D+ days for those that already have packages.

Later on in the Cruise it sometimes is easiest to just use the D+ credit and buy the remaining voyage package..you'll get the $56 (or whatever the single day x 2 value is) to offset the cost.

That's exactly how we'll use our 4 days once we have them to share access for the entirety of the cruise.

Wait so the D+ free days show up as a credit on app? We don't have to visit the wifi desk?

And does the 48 hours start counting from when you activate the credit or does it go by the calendar date?

And the plan would be to stack all 8 days for one person. That way we just have to pre-purchase a 2 or 3 device plan.

When I used it the benefit started when I signed in, I used App, and when I selected internet I was asked if I wanted to use my benefit.  I gave my password to family member when I was done. So it is a 24 or 48 hour clock from when you start. We typically start at noon to overlap days when checking with catsitter.

It shows up as a credit when you purchase the days in the app onboard. If you have a package though it shows the package and you have to have the VOOM desk involved to use your free days.

If the onboard price for a day of service is $30, then each D+ will have a $60 credit to offset purchasing a package.

You can only purchase a 24 hour pass or a full voyage pass when you use the app.  Full voyage means you are purchasing for the rest of the duration of the cruise.  The cost of the full voyage package decreases as the days go on.

When you pick the 24 hour pass it starts right then.

We are D+ and usually share internet.
I wanted to add that you can get creative with how you time your 24 hours with the app. We cruise mainly Caribbean from Port Canaveral and follow the coast the first evening so have shore service for quite a while on our way south. Our first free day generally will start day 2 mid morning. This will carry over to mid morning the next day.   We use it thru that time and then may not use it again till later that evening so wait to start another 24 until then. Use it the next day until expires in the evening… With this staggering we end up picking up a day by the end several days…It is not much and we can spend the equivalent in a few minutes in the casino, but an ‘extra’  free day is an extra day..

So then for D+ members, each member would have two 24 hour passes in the app?

Each member has a $ credit for how much 48 hours costs onboard. Don't think of them as 24 hour passes... but yes, each member has enough $ credit to purchase two 24 hour passes if that's how they wish to use it.

and after the 48 hours, if I don't want to continue the plan, we just cancel or it disconnects automatically?

It will just end. I think you'll see a countdown clock on the login page with how much time is left (unless they changed that part or I'm misremembering). I haven't used my D internet since last October.
