GregD
9 hours ago, Lovetocruise2002 said: Tonight we tried to catch another showing of AquaNation. No luck. Both shows were cancelled due to motion. CD Mike explained that the pool here is smaller than the Aqua theatre pool on Oasis class. So any water loss due to motion is unsafe for the divers. On top of that, the aerialists swing on a pendulum so any significant motion is unsafe for them as well. About 10mins before showtime, they opened the pool and placed a sandbag out to simulate the swinging, and there was considerable water loss with the motion, and the sandbag was swinging side to side across the entire width of the pool. So no go. I guess they did not consider that a lot of motion is felt at the front of the ship, on the top decks? Hubby and I had to laugh a bit because on Oasis class, the Aqua shows frequently cancel due to wind. This new Aquadome takes away that worry. But they just replaced the wind problem with the motion problem. Good old Royal lol Life/cruise lesson here: continue to see the Aqua theatre show as early in the sailing as possible. Because there is always going to be some motion, and apparently that is a problem for that theatre I always thought this was such a poor design decision that they made. I foresee so many unhappy people regarding this in the future. PPPJJ-GCVAB, Lovetocruise2002, asquared17 and 2 others 4
AshleyDillo
Finally was up in time for breakfast! Pearl Cafe has some grab and go stuff and some selections they will warm up for you on top of the typical pastries. The line for fancy coffee was super long at 8:30am on a CocoCay morning. AshleyDillo
I tried a couple things.. Peanut butter overnight oats...I find the muesli too sweet but I loved this. The Classic which is a sausage, egg, ham and cheese sandwich on a brioche burger bun. The steak and eggs which has red peppers on it as well. The bun is a little chewy on this one. They also had all the typical pastries you see at Royal breakfasts. OCSC Mike, Jax, PPPJJ-GCVAB and 6 others 8

Looks good! I didn't get to fully check out the grab n go section on Wonder but definitely plan to now that we'll be back in steerage. It wasn't as big as your pictures but they did have some pre-packaged stuff I like to toss in the cooler in case I need my 97th snack and don't feel like going anywhere. The stuff you tried looks good too. I often get what I've always called the "Park Cafe McMuffin" in the early hours while my wife is on the walking track to go with my CL coffee and then we have actual breakfast when she's done exercising. Yes, between the location at the front, and the seating (which is rumoured to be less, but I am curious if it is), it will be hard for people to catch a repeat performance if cancelled. Keep in mind that this ship is not at full capacity. But when it hits full capacity, this could be an issue. 39 minutes ago, asquared17 said: this is my number one reason why i wouldn’t want to sail icon in the suite neighborhood — and make no mistake — i can’t exactly afford it but this is a huge miss for me. we always seek cabins that are aft, or aft/mid. i am too sensitive to motion to deal with it otherwise. to be fair, this is a ME issue and not a royal issue. but i hate that the suite neighborhood has been moved from aft to forward for this reason. AshleyDillo
Actually going to get off the ship today! Pressing the gangway button takes you to the Promenade where you follow the signs. They do have a towel station set up on the Promenade to check out towels before going down the escalator. It is the same escalator you take to the casino but instead of hanging left they have the doors open on the right. They've got AM and PM mixed up on some and then they also forget to adjust the time when they've gone forward and backwards an hour on this sailing. I strongly suggest to not be in one of them when they change the time. We have had one in one office that was too smart. If it was moving while you changed the time it registered that as an error. Either travelling too slow or too fast depending on how you changed the time. If the elevator detected too slow it just went to the next floor and opened the doors. In too fast mode it stopped and engaged some breaks that we couldn't undo ourself. Not sure what manufacturer that was and what model, but I suggest to not risk it. The question we posed was, “If pricing was not a factor, would you rather sail Icon Class or Oasis class?” I still cannot answer that. With pricing being a factor, I really don’t know if the new things justify the upcharge. I just priced out a GS for 4 of us next August on Icon. It is more than we paid for the majority of our star class cruises, pre and post pandemic restart. WAAAYTOOO
Just from remote observation, it does appear that the Aqua Theater is smaller in both actual size and seating capacity. Ampurp85
I pre-book Icon for the Feb 1st 2025 sailing. I booked refundable just in case I can't apply my certificate. But guess how much an interior is running for? $6100. Which is more than the inaugural sailings was going to cost me for 2. Oh and that's solo, so possibly $6500 for 2 with taxes fees and gratuities. The suites were insane. But there were still a decent selection left. Unlike balconies and interiors. AshleyDillo
We (my brother and I) decided to keep our Hideaway Beach passes. My mother canceled hers since she didn't know how accessible it would be getting there. She can't walk long distances and can't step up high enough onto the trams (I barely can!). They did make this place accessible. There are wheelchair accessible trams with ramps and the pools have lifts. Sidewalks are wide, too. I'm not one for sun and sand so I already knew this wasn't going to be my vibe. The pool is massive and heated but there's not a lot of space for poolside chairs. There are plenty of chairs down at the beach. I've been wandering among all the shady seating areas by the food places and the bars. The weather is absolutely gorgeous..super comfortable to this Floridian. This is at the On the Rocks bar which has a live band. They also have shuffleboard and a pool table.
