Weezie57 Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 My teenagers are excited there is a Johnny Rockets on Voyager of the Seas even though they have never eaten there. My first question is how is the food? Secondly, I think I read somewhere you could use your Deluxe Drink Package to get milkshakes there, is that accurate? RCIfan1912 1 Quote
Xaa Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 Food is decent. Yes you can use your DBP for a milkshake DoomSlayer and Weezie57 1 1 Quote
derek burgan Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 We had zero complaints with any of our Johnny Rockets meals over the years. One of the benefits of being on a ship with so many free options for food is that the places which charge money for food have to deliver a decent experience or word would travel FAST to skip it. CrznTxn Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 Can get the same hamburger in Windjammer BUT the milkshakes are what I go for. Can't get them anywhere else and is a treat for each trip. Weezie57 1 Quote
whitsmom Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 You can eat breakfast there and it was included. If you have the refreshment package then you can get the milkshakes. Weezie57, Cactus527 and DoomSlayer 2 1 Quote

tjcruisers Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 We always stop at least once, however it's somewhat lost it's luster for us post covid. Used to be lie $5 a person, last cruise it was $12 with very slow service. Not really sure it's $12 better than what you can get in the WJ USFFrank and Weezie57 1 1 Quote

Xaa Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 Love JR breakfast on Oasis. Moring on the boardwalk is calm and beautiful. Food, fast, to order and on point. Quote
Wheeler825 Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 Ooh I forgot this one when I did my recent Harmony review. We went to JR for lunch one day at noon. Took too long for them to take our order, then never received my food before I left for another commitment at 1. FireFishII 1 Quote

Ampurp85 Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 I think JR is worth it. The apple pie alone is worth it. I will say that the burgers in WJ don't compare, I actually really dislike the burgers in WJ, they taste off to me. We ate at JR twice on my last Oasis sailing. We didn't do breakfast because they didn't have turkey sausage offerings. RCIfan1912 and Weezie57 2 Quote
GregD Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 I like Johnny Rockets too, their burgers are good, and I really like the bacon cheese fries. If you have a DX package, ask for an Adult milkshake!! Cactus527 and DoomSlayer 2 Quote

My sister the tuna melts at JR and I like their chili. Sundaes are included in the price. Let them melt a little and you have a milkshake! Quote

bobroo Posted March 3, 2023 Report Posted March 3, 2023 11 hours ago, RCIfan1912 said: Ok, I learned something today. Are they moving away from Johnny Rockets? Is Icon gonna have Johnny Rockets? Ahhh….Playmakers is the replacement for Johnny Rockets. No licensing fees and they don’t have to have a single source for the food. Playmakers cleverly uses beverage staff as servers, not the assistant waiters used in JRs. There is hope for JR lovers! Playmakers sports bar concept is a far better fit for Royal, unfortunately it requires what I would call Class A space. It needs to be in a prominent, very high traffic area. JR can sustain itself in what I would say is Class C space, that area on the top deck, aft. To be honest, JR is the most successful thing that has ever been in Royals Class C areas and you’ll never see a direct swap of Playmakers for JR. So I expect JR will linger on. You mentioned Icon class, put a pin in my thoughts about Class C areas because we all need to have a discussion about Icon and it’s Class C areas. I have a lot of doubts. Xaa Posted March 3, 2023 Report Posted March 3, 2023 I'm not sure about that Bobroo. On Oasis, Symphony and Wonder JR is right across the Boardwalk from Playmakers in what you call Class A space. On Harmony and Allure it's across from Sabor which occupies the space where Playmakers is on the other Oasis class ships. In the case of Oasis class, Playmakers is the replacement for Sabor. Quote
RCIfan1912 Posted March 3, 2023 Report Posted March 3, 2023 It is kinda interesting that playmakers is right across from Johnny Rockets. I guess in the end kinda redundant. We didn't eat at Playmakers when we were on Oasis last summer for some reason. There were just so many free places to eat I guess we didn't think of it. We were supposed to be on Oasis May before we switched cruises to Liberty to a much longer cruise. We were going to try it for lunch on embarkation day. Quote

You can only visit the a la carte options once a day, so if you go for breakfast, you won't be able to go for lunch. Quote
