  1. Last night we skipped the show, a family friendly comedian and ordered from the MDR up in the cabin, we really enjoyed this option. Once again the food came up pretty hot and they made Cabosh a meal not on the menu, with zero drama. Then out on the balcony for a hot tub and sunset family evening. Some additional packing, policed the cabin and slept well. One issue on my folio with kiddos arcade D+ benefit because she turned 18, a quick what's app to Julia and it was addressed. Sing a Song by the Carpenters on the radio driving home and I feel like that is the perfect beautiful ending to our celebration cruise, thanks for joining us!

  2. Glad all is well @smokeybandit son! He was such a cutie. Nice meeting you on our joint Adventure! Home, first load of laundry in and kiddo already napping! We love disembarking right away, the terminal was seamless. The worst part was waiting for the elevator in the parking deck and even that was not long. That chair! So my thoughts on that are this cabin was older opulence, I mean she had some wear of course and the lights were a challenge because the labeling of the buttons has rubbed off. But we all thought it was a treat and it really could use the second bathroom, at least half. That silly room off the dining room was just a waste. The chair was placed in a beautiful windowed nook, it was old and ugly. It just didn't belong. Thanks again all!

  3. On the goport bus after another great cruise. My wife is staying on to do the 6 night as a solo relaxing cruise. Alas the rest of us are going home. We ended up in medical last night after our son got his leg tangled in the outdoor suite deck gate when it closed unexpectedly. Julia took good care of us, got us right into medical just to rule out a serious injury. Luckily just a painful but minor bone bruise. Medical staff was great, too.

  4. Back to real life, I sent Cabosh to Publix because I like to unpack and do laundry myself, he is kind and tries to help but his haphazard way gives me anxiety, lol! Other random takeaways, We walked to HideAway, great walk but Yikes, my foot had no business walking in the sand like that...it is ugly black and blue spanning across the top of my foot my 2 middle toes, ouch. Taped them together, all good just ugly. The piano. Just lovely, my family has music in their hearts. By the end of the week they were playing all types of songs and Cabosh was writing a new one. Now they are researching a purchase....of a piano for our home. How about you just let me book cabins with a piano? That's a good idea, no? Our MDR team was not the best, the restaurant was very hot for us as well. We really thought the dinner in the cabin was a huge home run. When we were done we did gather everything up and called room service back to take the trays. I hate leaving a mess for the room guy. And nothing goes outside the door, No way just gross. There were dishes, food and glasses left in elevators, near stairs etc but not nearly as many as on the Wonder. We were very conscious of scooters, rascals, wheelchairs and when waiting for elevators when not taking the stairs we would let them go and wait for another. My dad and his wife who has just left this world were able to sail the Mariner last June, she cried because she said people were mean and they had difficulty when trying to use one. It was a small gesture but when we moved over and gave up our spots for these young of heart people 9 out of 10 were so appreciative. There is always the one off who will physically try to run you down though. This ship had more kind humans than I have experienced in a long while, what a huge blessing.

  5. Annoying thing about debarkation at PCN is the baggage is in two areas. And the suites bag area is unintuitively around the corner past the customs checkpoint. Long day of travel, but weather looks good so hopefully no flight delays. Then onto planning and prepping for jewel in October.

  6. @SweetPea they gave us 72, it was perfect. Thank you again. The security at that beach were huge chunks of eye candy, wow! One was bigger then the next! Lot's of vaping but that truely was the only "illegal" behavior we saw. Oh, lots of booties out, my word! Full moon in the afternoon. I'm not bothered by it but one can tell they are taking adult beach to a new level. I honestly think our Icon friends deserved to party after being trapped on that ship with so many kiddos.

  10. @Lovetocruise2002 Leaving the ship was fantastic. Julia asked us to meet her deck 4 at 0645 as the ship starts letting passengers off at 0700 sharp. Apparently that is when customs reports to work. She had us all in the seating area and about 0655 she walked us outside on deck, lined us up and with sea pass scanned we were on our way. Lots of others tried to partake in the walk off as Julia escorted us but she was turning people away like a boss. If you were not a Suite, Pinnacle or Key you were out of her line. I think you will really like her! Don't forget the puffy cheetos!!

  11. I was trying to be kind but they treated us as if we bothered them. All we ask is no butter or creams or sauces on any of Cabosh entree's, the waiter was constantly telling us NO! & then the head waiter came and asked if everything was wonderful, he got an earful & it just got worse from there. So I'm glad they treated you well but they treated us not well. Good though because your 10 for dining is going to cancel out my 2! We ventured to say it was one of the worst serving teams we had ever experienced, you guys were super quick also leaving before dessert, I'm sure they love that. Maybe we reminded them of someone else who didn't leave gratuity or something, who knows? Stands to reason this is only the second time in our cruising career we left nothing additional to our dining team, their added gratuity went to the room service people who were amazing. I hope Mrs. Smokey has the best time on her solo outing, I am so jealous!!

  13. We are off the ship, debark was amazing. Julia had to be the police because a few people were trying to debark with our group. We were suites, pinnacles and keys. So smooth, the process was seamless. Why, this chair?

  14. Ok So I think I failed on this blog worse than I failed on Odyssey, at least I mostly kept up on Odyssey... Here is one final wrap up post from NV last weekend: On Sunday, we ate breakfast in Chops, with coffee we brought from Starbucks as the cappuccino machine was still broken: (This was unique because when we told the waiter what we were going to do with the eggs, cheese, and English muffin, he offered to just do it for us) Yes, I know this is as boring as Coastal Kitchen breakfast was for us on Odyssey. Then we at lunch in Playmakers with some people we met on the ship who happen to live in AZ: (I took this photo of the cricket game on the TV for my coworkers, many of them were in NY to watch this game, India vs Pakistan, India won which most of my coworkers were very happy about) Then we napped, probably, and packed, probably, this was nearly a week ago now haha. And then we had dinner in Hooked, also with our new friends: This was the new hooked menu. They replaced the blackened salmon with the cajun salmon, I am honestly not convinced what I got was actually cajun as it just looked and tasted like grilled salmon. Also, the old bay seasoned fries were kinda sad. Other than that, the food was pretty typical for hooked. I did try one of my mom's coconut shrimps and those were excellent, I should have gotten those for my main instead but I guess you live and you learn . The next morning was disembarkation morning . We once again ate breakfast in chops, this time they finally got the cappuccino machine fixed! I think they got a part in Ensenada the day before (oh yeah, we were in Ensenada on Sunday, not that you would know with us We then took the ship transfer to LAX for a 1pm flight to Phoenix. We spent the day in the LAX terminal 4 admirals club which is a lovely admirals club, just probably for a couple hours max. Our new friends were driving home and we had a little race going. We won but I think it was a fluke because they got stuck stopping for things a few times, in normal conditions they would have won driving. Finally, here are some cabin photos I took the last morning: (My mom's room, note it has a coffee table) (Connecting door) (My room, missing coffee table, we didn't notice it was missing until the last day when we were packing) (My empty closet on disembarkation morning) (More storage next to the desk) (bathroom) The old style junior suites are really very functional and have a lot of storage, highly recommend. Ok so I will try to remember to link the compass once it gets added to the compass page, I just emailed it over. Other than that, I think this cruise is pretty much done! Let me know if you have any questions about Navigator of the Seas, I have now counted that I have done 12 cruises on her literally all over the world. She ties with Oasis as my most cruised ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Overall, this is a great weekend cruise and while there were some misses, I think the hits outweighed them. (And yes, I did survive 4 nights and 2 flights alone with my mom, according to some on here and even possibly my dad, that deserves a medal or something. I had to do everything for her that my dad normally does on cruises and I found out that was a lot ). Thanks again! Ashley

  17. This is great news as we will have to get moving asap to make our drive to FLL for our S2S. So Julia will still be in the SL at the end of July?

  18. Thanks @OCSC Mike for pointing this out. I didn't find any great deals on drink package, but it prompted me to look at all of my bookings. Found some great prices on my upcoming X cruise as a result!

  19. Random follow-ups… - I finished the last of my take-home ranger cookies last night. - I don’t see Aqua Nation in the app for today (or any day) on the current sailing so now I’m really perplexed what that was all about. - We’ve been visiting my wife’s parents ahead of Father’s Day so I only ate healthy for about 3-4 days post-cruise. Going to need to be extra good between leaving tomorrow & coming back for July 4th so I’m prepared for the July 14th cruise.

  23. Yeah I knew it was moved but the outdoor seating area is cool! Don’t plan on eating there this time around. We booked Sky JS so plan on utilizing coastal kitchen to the max but will try and book Royal Railway

  24. So much fun sailing away from Coco Cay. The Icon crowd was on their feet, hooting and howling, waving and whistling. So much fun, it was so wonderful. I said a little prayer in hopes one day our world would be like this. It was a blessing, a beautiful feeling.

  26. Holiday Inn Southampton is a favourite with cruisers because you can walk to restaurants and the port. (Not the Hi Express, though.) Other popular options are Premier Inn West quay and Moxy Southampton, next door to each other and to the big West quay mall. Also in walking distance to the port although a little farther than the Holiday Inn. There's also a cluster of Accor Hotels - Ibis Budget, Ibis and Novotel just a bit farther back but again still convenient and walkable. And if you're interested in trying something with a bit more character, the Pig in the Wall is literally built into the castle walls.

  28. I will say that they didn't seem to like when you wanted something different. The first night, since obviously she can't pre-order GF for night 1, she always just gets spaghetti. The waiter basically said "you don't want that" but my wife ordered anyway and had no issues. Also the first few nights we left before dessert (despite telling him we never get dessert) we got the "what's wrong, is everything OK?" speech when we left after finishing. Our criteria for an extra tip is simple though. Can they not screw up GF orders and can they get us in and out quick. We were out of there before 6pm each night. One night at 5:45. But I can see why you didn't like them. Asking for dishes naked is obviously reasonable.

    Progreso

The one and only time we have been to Progreso we went to Chichen Itza. It's still a long bus ride but you get to skip the ferry to the mainland since you're already on the mainland ! If you're ever going to go to Chichen Itza, Progreso is the place to do it from.

  30. I asked about the transition during the back stage tour 2 days ago. We were told nothing is changing, we won't even know he is gone. They praised the new woman in charge as well. They seemed like there was nothing concerning with the change. I'm sure they are told to say these things, but I posed the question anyway.

  31. Obviously I believe you but this is so bizarre to me b/c we never have experiences like that. I know we're on the easy going side with few special requests but it's not like yours are complicated or unreasonable. If anything we usually find the staff going out of their way to do stuff without us even asking (like just putting both lobster tails on my plate knowing I'm eating my wife's or adding a dish of ice cream on the side to a certain dessert). Our most recent assistant server was one of the happiest crew members I've ever seen. He never stopped smiling. That one Solarium bartender added a banana to my wife's daiquiri even though he's not technically supposed to. Our cabin attendant kept apologizing for being so busy on embarkation day b/c he was helping the guests who had someone in their party accidentally pack their ID and was at risk of missing the ship no matter how many times we told him not to worry, we get it, go help them, we just wanted to say hi and ask for ice and hangers. I just hate reading this stuff (even though it sounded like you had a great cruise overall). It's the same way with some of @Ampurp85's shenanigans. I know our routine has a bit to do with it but I can't remember the last time we had any sort of major complaint with any crew member. We don't tend to run into anything excessively negative from other passengers either... just the basic impoliteness or lack of etiquette you'd find anywhere in public but nothing crazy or over the top.

  32. Did you disembark at the earliest time available? When we sail in July, we are going to need to high tail it out of there asap (self carry all luggage). Just wondering what the earliest time off the ship was for you guys this morning. For the record, I fully support this purchase, as well as booking rooms with pianos. we have 2 pianos in the house and you can never have enough music around you. Other than cruising, my pianos are my happy place. Actually, my piano was my happy place long before cruising. D17 plays better than me now so listening to her play is also my happy place. Get that piano!

  33. You and me both, friend. You and me both .... we just did laundry and repacked for the next one on Tuesday and we got home the Friday before. @Neesa and @smokeybandit thank you for taking us along! Took the sting out of coming home and i loved following along! Welcome home! And @smokeybandit, i hope your son makes a speedy recovery! I'm glad it was more serious. Thank you for putting this song on a loop in my head. Thank you. Really. #TeamNeesa here. Batman bought a guitar 3 months ago. It's still in the box in our sitting room. He insists he'll break it out once i "let" him retire. For the record, I've told him to retire but he insists upon retiring together and I'm not quite ready yet. So booking more cabins with pianos makes prefect sense to me!

  35. Just goes to show how subjective cruise reviews can be. We had the same team and they were one of the better ones we've had recently, especially the assistant. Though this one was different in that the head waiter took my wife's day-before gluten free order, not our table waiter which had been the norm.

  36. That's good to hear. We were on the cruise before you and there were so many entitled people......saw a poor server in the casino get berated by a drunk dad in front of his kids for telling them to move out of the slot seats in a very busy casino. The guy ended up being escorted away by security after screaming some racial obscenities. Tipped the server $50 and told them they had much more self-control than me.

  37. While causation does not equal correlation, it is interesting to see we're a month away from Utopia launching and still no word on the shows (beyond Aqua 80s Too that was leaked) and Weir was let go. Things that make you go hmmm....

  38. I admire those of you who can just jump right into that as soon as you get home. Even with our similar quick drive home, our laundry usually sits in a pile (well, a couple piles) and I do it the next day. I need the rest of disembarkation day to recover, lol.

  40. Random tangent coming... there's a place in Philly famous for these; they call them crab fries. @ScottD knows. Don't sweat the blog fail; I kept my last one going but felt it getting weaker and weaker as the week went on. Blog fatigue is a thing. Solid ending with the food pics.

  46. Thanks for all the well wishes and positive vibes, we were off about 15 minutes later. Yes, I reacted some but mostly remained engaged all day. I loved HideAway what I was unprepared for was how much kiddo loved it, dancing ALL day! @SweetPea the cabana recommendation was on point. Thank you! It really was not crowded either as Icon people there were saying the amount of kids on board was tremendous, thus the families were restricted from the area. @OCSC Mike we hardly ate. Our cabana guys brought us snacks but we are still full from the past 7 days. We did crush 3 vouchers each and the weather while overcast was amazing. Kiddo is even sporting pink shoulders now. The cool thing is that she grew up with old parents, so she knew all the music, she said it was the best time she ever had at Coco Cay! Dance party all afternoon! We really liked the location of the cabana we had and agreed we probably would not get the one on the little pool. Also, with how many chairs were available we won't be getting a cabana again. It's so not necessary for the three of us. Oh, Evian water, home run!! Perfect day....once we got on the Island!

  47. The steps are as follows which in turn tells you what you need: It is said it is easiest to check in using your mobile app. You can scan in all those listed on your reservation. Scan Passport or ID/Birth Certificate (For the Passport they are essentially reading the numbers at the bottom.) Picture (selfie) Check off Boarding/Photo Country Origin Royal Caribbean Loyalty # (Crown & Anchor Society) Address Emergency Contact (other than those traveling) Onboard Credit (credit card) Check off you have read the Legal Information. Arrival Time Health Status (this will be completed the day before the cruise, you will receive a reminder). View Set Sail (you can add to your Apple/Google wallet and should take a screen shot)

  48. Omg. They do. There is a flag (purple) right next to every life guard stand. This is the same signal you would find on any beach. Purple flag is symbol for sea creatures such as jellyfish. Look it up. It's a universal notification at any beach.
