BB518 Posted November 24, 2024 Report Posted November 24, 2024 What does the health checklist entail prior to boarding? Do they temperature check everyone boarding the ship? Is there a ship nurse if someone gets sick after leaving port? Quote
SpeedNoodles Posted November 24, 2024 Report Posted November 24, 2024 It asks basic questions about how you are feeling. They no longer temp check anyone at the port. There is a medical facility on board with a licensed physician and nurse(s?). BB518 1 Quote
smokeybandit Posted November 24, 2024 Report Posted November 24, 2024 I wouldn't even call it a health check anymore. It's two very basic questions about pregnancy and about having a general list of symptoms in the last 24 hours, many of which perfectly healthy people can have on any one given day, especially after traveling (dry air on flights, eating habits while traveling, etc). MdFormula350 Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 I'm supposed to embark tomorrow and little worried about me and my wife which both have some nasal stuff going on. I'm not sure what to do, but will have to say Yes to that question so not sure if I dont answer the questions at all and just show up I wonder if I say Yes in person. I dont want to be denied boarding and waste the flight there! This sucks. Quote

Right after restart there was something like 15 questions and my wife said yes to one. It was something minor, but it delayed our boarding by 2 hours as we had to get covid test and other checkups. That was 3 years ago. I don't know what they do now, but it all worked out for us. Quote

fireclan Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 In October, cruising from Baltimore, my husband and I did not answer the health questions prior to arriving at the port. I mentioned this when checking in and she asked us the questions. In November, cruising solo from the same port, I once again mentioned I had not answered the health questions on the app and she said, "that's just fine, they're not required anyway", handed my passport to me and off I went. In a few days, we are cruising from Bayonne, NJ. I think I'll not answer them again and see what happens. Quote
BrianB Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 Sometimes I forget to answer them the day before boarding when it opens up on the app. Or I get the ‘Check in has checked out’ message and can’t answer them. When I checked in at the port (Bayonne), sometimes I’ll get the one quick question in general terms, like “You’re not sick, right?” Usually I don’t get questioned. I’m obviously not pregnant and look fine (medically speaking) so they just check me in. Cactus527 and PPPJJ-GCVAB 2 Quote
MdFormula350 Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 thanks for the responses, so far i cant willingly put no, so i think im going to show up without answering them. wife has the idea to wear masks initially as well on plane and terminal. Cactus527 1 Quote

I/we never received a prompt to answer them, nor could I find them anywhere (app or website) when searching for them. Quote
smokeybandit Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 Everyone has cold symptoms at some point in the winter. And many people have at least one of those symptoms on a daily basis year round. Even more when they're traveling as our normal habits (eating, sleeping, drinking) tend to change a lot during travel time. You know your body. If you feel something terrible coming on that's one thing. If you just have the typical cold stuff, that's just a fact of life. PPPJJ-GCVAB, TXcruzer and teddy 2 1 Quote

Many, many of your fellow passengers are going to click or say "no" when asked if they are sick or have symptoms of being sick. I'm not saying that's right but the reality is there are going to be sick people on the cruise. There are also going to be healthy people that get sick while on the cruise (some caused by the former, some by bad luck). Most people aren't willing to give up their vacation when they are sick especially if they didn't get travel insurance. WAAAYTOOO and TXcruzer 2 Quote

judgen Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 When I was a rookie, shortly after cruises opened up from COVID, I answered the aches and pains question Yes because I am 73 years old and I have bad knees. I tried to explain that to the people in charge but they would not buy it and made me get tested again for COVID even though I had passed because we had to test before cruising back then. That was when all the kids had to be tested at the port, in New Jersey, so I had to sit in the corral with all the kids to wait for my results. Took a little over an hour for the results but at least I made it. I kind of learned my lesson after that. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
Eyeonhevn Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 I have a friend who just got home from her cruise full blown sick. Talking to her - she admitted she answered NO to the questions even though she was feeling like she had a cold and a low grade fever at times. She went anyway. I have to admit I was disappointed in her - although I understand that she had a vacation scheduled - but I think of all those other passengers that came in contact with her - and probably came home sick. At the very least wearing a mask would be the responsible thing to do. Not only is there a possibility you are coming down with something but your immunity is likely suffering so you may pick something up. Not a bad time to take extra vitamin C. Also pack meds to have for your cruise. I have an entire toiletry kit with meds and it has come in handy when cruising. Quote
MdFormula350 Posted Monday at 11:46 AM Report Posted Monday at 11:46 AM the morning of we were both way better feeling and sounding, etc. by the time at the airport we answered the questions as directed while waiting. when on board we fit in with everyone else with a few sniffles, coughs, sneezes, a few masks, etc.. by day 2 i was just about 100% and wife day 3. good times!
