Beach clubs/day resorts on Bonair, Aruba, or Curacao
AandD replied to warrenz1963's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Sorobon Beach Bonaire -
Here is our experience with answering yes. Right after restart there was something like 15 questions and my wife said yes to one. It was something minor, but it delayed our boarding by 2 hours as we had to get covid test and other checkups. That was 3 years ago. I don't know what they do now, but it all worked out for us.

Be award when writing review for Royal Caribbean
AandD replied to Ting's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Same thing happened to us awhile back. Only there was a mirror behind us, so he stood there and checked himself out and adjusted his tie while talking to us. -
Mike, I enjoy this blog but also the Facebook groups. We are crossing over in February to try Celebrity. Found a general Celebrity Summit Facebook group that is real active. Sounds like we will know what is going on with the Summit right up until the time we board.

When is your next Celebrity/Azamara Cruise?
AandD replied to BrianAlt's topic in Celebrity & SilverSea
Celebrity Summit February 2025. We have done plenty of Royal cruises so we thought we would give Celebrity a try. -
Houston Hotels & Transportation to Galveston
AandD replied to Vincent's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We stayed at Days Inn and suites by Windham Houston Hobby airport a year ago. They picked us up from airport. It is in an industrial area so nothing to do. But it had been recently refinished. $124 was a good price. -
We had an emergency while on a cruise in February. Received notification from a security alarm. But we could not make a call. I went to customer service and explained. They called our local police department and let me talk to the police without charging us. I don't know if they normally do that, but I sure appreciated it.

I called our TA once and he put our conversation on hold. Then he turned his phone around and did a live stream of the penguins playing in the snow in Antartica. I still have that TA.

Getting towels from the room steward has worked for us also. they also take care of getting us dry towels.

Not me, but my wife has requested her robe every cruise since getting the perk.

Singing and dancing in the MDR- who enjoys this?
AandD replied to TessFromFlorida's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
We leave food and drinks on the table and leave. The first night we ask the waiter if they know when the song and dance routine is going to happen and see if they can warn us. It would be nice to set down and eat and have a conversation without loud music and dancing. -
The Ultimate World Cruise was not a one-off!
AandD replied to Cakemeister's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Even if we had the money and the time, we couldn't do it. We have grandkids and a dog. But I hope Royal does it again. I have really enjoyed living vicariously through Bob and Lori on Facebook "Cruising around the world in in 274 days". She has been very nice in spending time posting and answering questions. And seeing some of the places the current cruise has been on maybe we could at least do a few of those destinations in the future. -
"everyone has been raving about the specialty dining being worth the price" We have done the unlimited twice and single restaurants 2 or 3 times when Royal brought the price down on a black Friday sale. But Full price is not worth the price to us.

We were in Icy Straight right after restart. The people were so happy to have visitors. Ate in town. Looked at the prices of groceries at the store. Walked back and talked with the local people. We are going back in 3 weeks. I wouldn't be mad at all if our itinerary gets changed to a stop at Icy Straight.
-
I agree. The status match is good for us. We have never been on Celebrity but are looking at their itinerary's that are different then Royals. It's nice that we get some perks like sailing on Royal. 4 or 5 drinks a day is nice but we are ready to change it up a little. We have never had any problems on Royal but are ready for a change.

Thanks for that reply. We are up there in a few weeks and have a late flight.

Los Angeles Cruise Port / Long Beach Airport
AandD replied to AandD's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yes Navigator. Probably Long Beach airport. Looking at the Doubletree. So should it take very long to get from the cruise port to Long Beach airport on a friday ? -
We mostly cruise out of Florida. This will be our first time out of Los Angeles. What Hotel would you recommend near the cruise port? We will get there the day before so if there is something within walking distance, of restaurants, parks, things to do, that would be nice. Also, what would be the earliest flight on the way back? There are plenty of flights, but I don't know what traffic is like on a Friday.

"Husband is a bit of an adrenalin junkie" This is good to know. Even though we always buy insurance when we cruise, reading the fine print later, there were some things we did that were not covered.
-
We have done 3 or 4 of these. Thats usually the way it works. Sometimes we have been on smaller buses and the driver will drop you off at a stop and stay with the bus so you can leave small bags on your seat or overhead.
-
Yes. I have no idea what the room attendants make but they work hard and take care of us. Same with the waiters. We get some free drinks so $1 for the bar tender.
-
5- We tip the bartenders $1 for a drink. Also, we have been giving the room attendant $5 or $10 a day depending on the type of room. we are not high maintenance or demanding but I usually give the attendant a $ 20 when I first meet them and then add more later in the week if their service is good. We usually give our MDR waiter some money.
