Loyalty appreciation

Recommended Posts

We love RC and related lines. The loyalty program has been great, up until now. With nearly 20 years with you, you have just “slapped” us in our faces. As Diamond Plus, we booked an upcoming cruise next January, and invited friends (fairly new). We booked at the same time. They got a lovely, spacious aft cabin. We were assigned a small (no sofa) inferior cabin. Our loyalty “benefit” became a penalty. Shame on you! We are now second class citizens.  We expect better for the thousands of dollars we have spent with you.

This is not Royal Caribbean's fault. The "fault" lays with yourself for not paying closer attention to the exact cabin category you picked. If you booked with a travel agent, perhaps your agent could have explained it better.

If you booked a guarantee cabin, then that's the luck that comes with those sort of cabins.

I don't see any correlation between your Crown and Anchor status and the cabin you chose at the time of booking.  The choice of cabin comes down to the guest, and if you did go for a guarantee, cabin assignment has nothing to do with loyalty status.

I'm going to disagree with OP on this one and here's why.

My wife and I recently finished a 7 night cruise on Freedom.  She typically spends more time in the casino than I do and was rewarded with a Club Royale certificate.  We selected a cruise from the list and called to use our Next Cruise booking with the certificate.  I worked with the Casino Royale agent for the specific sailing and asked about the availability of an Oceanview accessible room based on a mobility restriction.  She placed me on a brief hold and then let me know that the accessible rooms associated with the casino certificate were already booked.  She then took my phone number to call me back.  When she called about 45 minutes later, she had asked and received approval to book us in an Oceanview Balcony on the ship and sailing date we desired.  Yes, this was an unexpected upgrade.  Yes, we're Diamond Plus and have Prime status.  But Hannah went the extra mile for us when she could have just said they were full.  This kind of compassionate customer service is what motivates me to stay "Loyal to Royal".

Actually I support Royal providing better guarantee cabins to new cruise guests as it will leave a lasting impression that could ensure they become loyal Royal cruisers, not that is what I think occurred here.

When I book a guarantee cabin I accept my assignment without questioning if someone else scored better than me.  What someone else gets is none of my business.  I book guarantee knowing I could get anything assigned in that cabin type.  So when I get my assignment I accept it and don’t think any more about it.

LOL  😝 and that dear posters is why I have never and will never book a Guarantee room.  I Need to pick my space and know exactly where I will be spending my time while on the ship.  I cannot chance getting a forward room…. I actually envy those of you who can book GTY and accept your assigned room.

I booked a RC guarantee for this Spring because the price was too good to pass up, and I liked the itinerary.  But it is basically a sun and fun cruise, so I don't think I will be in the cabin that much (I'm at the pool!).  When I book a port intensive cruise (Europe, etc.), I always pay extra to select the perfect cabin--because I need quiet sleep since I am getting up very early for excursions, even though I am also not using the cabin that much during the day, either.

I am 100% positive that a computer program probably randomly assigned their cabins anyway, based on some mysterious algorithm, and paying no attention to status.  Well, if they do not like their cabin, perhaps they can try Royal Up!

We booked a GTY for our upcoming "hey Mimi has offered to watch the kids" cruise, but we booked a suite guarantee. At a minimum, and most likely, we'll be in a Jr suite. With the double points, we'll reach diamond plus on this one. 🥳

The only time we ever booked GTY was also a suite guarantee. We got a JS almost exactly where we would have selected (same area, different deck) at a savings of $240 pp.
