saxyjdj
Everyone makes reference to the room not being ready as soon as you board, or your luggage not being there. When and how, do you get your key to your room, and how do you know when your room is ready? Do you get have to keep taking the long walk back to your room to check if your luggage is there all day? Fuzzywuzzy
Usually 1:00 PM. You will know if you room is ready when they remove the nylon barricade to the passageway. The room key(s) will be in the message bin outside the door. Luggage is dropped off at various times...if you want to keep checking that's on you. Dan Curtis
Usually 1, I have saw it later, if ship arrives port on time and everyone gets off promptly, I have saw it as late as two, as for luggage, seems recently I get one, search for one. So if u get on early, you will be keeping your carry on with you. Good luck, enjoy cruise. RCIfan1912 and Fuzzywuzzy
teddy
There will be an announcement over the intercom when rooms are ready. It’s typically 1 pm, but there may be times it’s a bit later. Luggage gets put in the hallway over the course of the afternoon. You may see yours as you walk to your room after the announcement, but sometimes it takes a few hours before it gets out close to your door. PL8SWPR
There will be an announcement made when the rooms are ready. The key (your seapass cards) will be on the wall next to your door. Dan Curtis

Also there are cameras everywhere, so the person that steals would be put off and possibly banned.

They dont put your luggage in your room? If someone takes your room key, they will only have access to a room you haven't been in yet. That's not really a concern because if you get there and someone else has put there stuff there, you just contact the cabin attendant and they'll take care of it. The other person won't be able to charge anything to your account because your picture would pop up on the screen and the cashier/bartender would know it isn't you. You will usually have access to your room long before your luggage is delivered. There will be giant piles of luggage near the crew elevators. The cabin attendants will eventually move/separate those piles and deliver to the correct rooms but you can always go find your own luggage if you want. No, nothing really prevents someone from taking the wrong bag, but there are cameras to identify who took the wrong bag. I'd be way more worried about the parts of the trip BEFORE the luggage end up in that pile.

If you are concerned about your luggage put some AirTags on them and be done with it. Luggage delivery times vary sometimes iv'e checked in at 11am and don't get my luggage until 7pm and other times i've checked in at 2pm and my luggage is outside my room before we leave port. Your stateroom are usually ready by 1pm however if you are carryon items and you wish to drop them off at your room in most cases the attendants will allow you to drop off your items but you will have to leave immediately. Neesa
Ship wide announcements are made to let you know your cabin is ready. When we sailed the Odyssey 2 years ago our cards outside our door were another family. There were 4 cards first clue & they were in the cabin starboard and we were port, same cabin the 2 bedroom suite on opposite sides we were sure of it! The other family was outside their cabin making the same discovery as we went over to the other side to locate our cards. We exchanged and all had a laugh with lite banter "hey do you have more OBC then me? " the state room hosts were mortified. We received extra bottled "good" water the entire 8 night sailing. Both families were cordial, had a great laugh and greeted each other the entire sailing. Honest mistake but I never ever felt anxiety over it, so it can occur but 9.9 times out of 10 it is correct, don't give it another thought. We bring carry on roller boards & backpacks now so we wheel our luggage in the cabin with us. Not for fear of it being lost or taken but because we like to have everything we need right away to unpack and organize and let's face it we were bringing way to much, Seriously if things hanging in the closet are not touched, you brought to much......well except for underwear, always bring extra underwear, don't leave them in the laundry basket! Taheeheehee!!! Ode to; shout out for @SweetPea Na na na na, na na na batman! OCSC Mike, teddy, WAAAYTOOO and 1 other 1
SweetPea
I rue the day any of you ever meet Batman in person. Just remember. When we get divorced I'm coming to live with whoever outs me! @saxyjdj, we are not of the 10/10:30am club. We tend to arrive around noon because we don't enjoy feeling homeless until rooms are ready. I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but in Star Class, your Genie will have your key cards and give them to you when he/she escorts you on the ship. My past two cruises, they've just spread the luggage out along the halls and you walk up and down every once in a while looking for yours- they haven't been super far, maybe 9-10 rooms down the hall, but they haven't been dropped off in front of the room, either. We always go looking for our luggage before it can even be dropped off at our door, just to get unpacking done as early as possible. One exception... when we went to do this on Wonder in June we were literally told not to take our luggage by a crew member as we approached the collection area. I thought she was just trying to be nice when she said go relax, it will be delivered shortly but she was quite adamant about it, lol. It wasn't a big deal, just very odd. smakl70
We have some distinct pieces that I usually spot and grab myself. Other pieces (the normal black or blue carry-on size) we usually wait to be delivered. Haven't had an issue yet but the last few cruises have heard announcements for everyone to double check their luggage because someone is still missing a bag on day 2. JB17
Yes. They get the bags to the right floor/section of the ship first, and then the crew takes them to the rooms. You're not meant to take your bags from the staging area yourself; they'll get to your room eventually.

They aren't all in a staging area, like in the crew hallway, they are lined up one by one along the walls of the hallway and most people seem to go and find there own, so we do the same! Maybe that's why people say they don't have luggage until 3-4 sometimes! oops
