sweet, suite symphony ~ 12.8-12.15.2024 (symphony of the seas)
ScottD replied to asquared17's topic in Live Blogs
Just finally checking in from over here on MSC... Glad you didn't seriously injure yourself, but damn that flight delay sucked! We had the same issue last year with the door...but they made us all get off and sit in the terminal because they had to switch the whole damn plane! The room looks amazing!! Enjoy your day in Coco cay. We just docked in the Dominican Republic and it's pouring, but supposed to stop soon. PS...this ship, the crew, food and entertainment have all been amazing! -

UGH- EVERYONE is sick!! My kid got sick on Halloween and JUST finally stopped coughing a few days ago, he ended up having 'walking pneumonia' and they tried everything= steroids, inhalers, antibiotics, steroids again, allergy pills. It was terrible. Made worse by getting me and the wife sick and we've both been fighting Bronchitis, I'm about 80% and the wife is pretty close, as well... I don't get sick so having a cough for over two weeks has been absolute HELL for me, lol. We fly out in two days and this stuff BETTER be cleared up completely by then!! -

Thanks! Can't wait to check her out next year! -
From what I've seen on other boards and posts, that tram is JUST for mobility issues now, and there is no "public tram" on the pier anymore.

We used to have a bunch of Samsonite stuff, my mother in law worked at one of their stores in a mall YEARS ago, and was constantly giving us luggage. We gave most of it away, but still use the one as our main suitcase- until that thing falls apart, we'll keep on using it. THEN, I'll start looking at all this fancy luggage always mentioned in here! -
I never saw anything about the public tram being non-operational, if it was, I'd assume it was a very brief amount of time.

Oasis Class Ships Cannot Dock At San Juan

I don't think anyone can answer that- it's literally a week by week situation. I would HOPE by then, it would be fixed- but who knows -

Yep-, Ill be on Seascape while you are on Symphony, then you do Seascape about two months before we do Symphony! And yeah, as cool as it is that he has his own luggage now, and we told him to pack what he wants- I feel like if we don't double check, it'll be like two pair of underwear, 3 tshirts and a pile of shorts, lol. 12 year old boys don't think they need to change clothes daily (but they are the stinkiest so they reallllly need to) -

How's your packing going? We haven't even started yet and we fly out Friday afternoon... we finally got our kid his own carry on sized suitcase so we will actually use two suitcases instead of one suitcase and a couple of backpacks like we usually do. I don't wanna hijack your blog, but I started my live for the MSC cruise over on CC if anyone wants to see my occasional outlook on a new cruise line (well, new to us). I'll be following along with yours the best I can while relaxing around the ship next week. Here the link if you wanna check out a little preview for your Seascape cruise next year, lol... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/3037793-live-from-seascape-127-1214-by-an-msc-newbie-fantastica-balcony/?do=getNewComment -

We have stayed at YVE before, as well. It's exactly how you describe it. Rooms a little small, elevators a little wonky (only 1 worked when we were there and I ended up dragging our bags down a few flights in the morning) We Loved being able to walk right across to the bayside marketplace, there was a small included buffet which I did- just enough to hold me over. We planned on staying there again in 2 weeks, but due to a big art show\festival going on, the room was about triple what we paid last time so we stuck to the airport area! -
New San Pellegrino Package in Cruise Planner
ScottD replied to Rackham's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Just checked my July SY sailing and it's on there! Same price (16.99 for 12 23.99 for 24) I get the refreshment package and use it 90% for these and sugar free red bulls anyway, so won't get it, but a nice option for sure at a crazy good price. -
SAME. Our 12 yr old eats a few full pizzas and a cow over the week, not including smaller meals and ice cream, lol ANNNND SAME.... it crushed me when I paid for this past July and realized the kid cost the same as us..and will from here on out. (at least on this line- MSC has a "teen" category which is nice)

3rd party excursions aren't always cheaper?
ScottD replied to RCIfan1912's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
What we do is find a few of the options on Viator or Trip Advisor, the name of the actual vendor is also on the listing- we then try to find the website for the company and book directly through them. It's USUALLY a few bucks cheaper, and the vendor is getting all of the money and not losing a cut to the big company -
Pretty sure they meant pizza with breakfast toppings. I love a good breakfast burger and breakfast pizza

Burger Quest on Mariner of the Seas

This is the kind of content I'm here for -
We had one on Oasis, it seems they alternate- the ones closer to the water point inward, and the ones closer to the rail looking at the pool deck face the water. Like this one is closer to the water and points inward... They could be set up differently on Wonder, and the overhead pic looks like most of the them are along the edge near the water like this one

Time to level the playing field: Chair Hogs
ScottD replied to tonyfsu21's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Sorry- you go on an excursion, which basically leaves the island for 2 hours, you definitely are not getting your seat back. -
It's usually the Tuesday Night\Wednesday morning of that week... so likely the 19th\20th we should see something! Hopefully...

Can I find a better deal before it's too late?
ScottD replied to Daniel5390's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You will, we sailed Oasis twice then did Liberty and thought we would hate it after the bigger ship- but no, we absolutely loved the ship and will definitely be booking Freedom class again -
Time to level the playing field: Chair Hogs
ScottD replied to tonyfsu21's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I feel like you are just adding to the problem. Go, find a set of chairs that have towels lined up on them, grab a deck attendant and tell them you need 4 chairs and to help you remove items from unoccupied chairs (or do it yourself). I also have never had to fight for chairs and always find 2-3 when needed, but we also aren't big sun or pool people and only do it on embarkment day when it's still kind of empty. -

ScottD replied to Daniel5390's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Same with Freedom class- why would they suggest Vision, but skip over Freedom class which is much bigger and newer... -
Oh...on 3 RC cruises in the past 2 years and have only seen it on the last night every time... I definitely don't want to deal with it more than once!!
