Haha, that ship has been there several weeks. For reference it is 900' long. Allure of the Seas is 1,187' long. Allure is going to fill up that dock space! RickinSTL
@Galveston Steve if I wanted to stay in Houston the night before to see the Astros play what airport would you recommend? Galveston Steve

I would recommend flying into Hobby. It's only a ten minute drive to Minute Maid from there, so you could Uber. emmef, RickinSTL and Galveston Steve 1
emmef
Yep, as @kadmgs mentioned, Hobby Airport is a lot closer to downtown and to Galveston than IAH is. Just be careful where you book a hotel. Signed, Lifelong Astros Fan Galveston Steve and Zurc 1
kadmgs
Yes, the Hobby airport area is rough! I recommend staying farther south like the Clear Lake/Webster area. It is only 15-20 mins. farther south from Hobby. Would still only be about 30 mins. from Minute Maid and about 30 mins. from Galveston. Scatmanjack
Safe to assume Royal will move all operations to Pier 10 once it is complete? Have always parked and walked from EZ Cruise Lot but I guess the lot included in Pier 10 project should be my new choice... I would think so, especially since reports are saying that NCL's big ship the Prima is going to start spending time in Galveston (and probably taking up dock space at the other Pier). Yes, after spending $125 million, I expect all RCG operations to be at Pier 10. Other than the new 10 acre surface lot that the Port is building adjacent to Pier 10, the next closest parking at the moment will be at 18th and Harborside. This lot is operated by Port Parking. It is a "park and walk" lot and is actually one of my favorites. It is an indoor lot with plenty of electric vehicle chargers and is elevated about 4 feet above the street for flood protection. It will be interesting to see if any other private lots pop up to support the new Terminal 10. Zurc and emmef

Personally I've always used Park-N-Cruise which is right across the street from the current terminals, as i like their indoor parking. This new company you like has numberous locations and options. I think it us a safe bet. They wouldn't have built the new terminal if they didn't intend to keep an Oasis class ship there. I suppose they could still switch ships if they decide to finally amplify Allure.
