Searching out Lucas’ architectural inspiration in a foreign country is next level SW fandom! I’m not a huge fan but I appreciate it, lol.

You haven’t seen his collection lol

My favorite band played in Barcelona last night...this was the poster for the show!! As soon as I saw your pictures, I was like WAIT A MINUTE...

demetrios on X: "Up! Pearl Jam 07/06/24 Barcelona Event ...

Very cool! Another Gaudi inspiration. Not ashamed to admit that when Hubby and I get home, we will probably watch some Gaudi documentaries 🤓

So this was quite a read for me since my own travels began on June 18 and just ended yesterday!  I spent a week traipsing all over Arizona with my granddaughter which was just an amazing trip!  Another week in Narragansett beaching it with the kids and grandkids and last week in Ogunquit, again with kids and grandkids plus several nieces and nephews, etc.  Time for me to slow down and relax…perfect for reading @Lovetocruise2002 live blog!
I started reading last night and just finished…so thanks for all this info…pics…more info…more pics!  Loving it all.  I’m taking notes since Barcelona will be one of our port stops while on our TA from Bayonne next spring!
So now I will rest up for your cruise adventures and post cruise Rome tour!  That is what our plans are as well!

Perhaps you can elaborate a bit on how many actual outfits you ended up packing?
I love your luggage covers!  Are those easy to find online?  Since I just invested in a new hard side luggage (28”…24”…20”) set, covers seem practical!

Our running joke is the need to check out the local McDonalds menu in each new city we visit 🤭 We were blown away by the pastry counter outside of Vatican City.

We cannot wait to check out the McDonald’s in Rome!

Are you running into tourism protestors or is the media overhyping it?

I saw someone on the cruise roll call group post about, but we have not come across any.

Welcome back! Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I basically have an outfit for each day. Plus… 2 rain outfits, one formal night dress, and one comfy wear around the ship outfit, and one rain jacket.

After dinner, we decided that since it was our last night, we had to visit this place I found online that has fried ice cream. You all know how much I love that stuff. I will seek it out everywhere I go. It’s hard to find in Barcelona! There is lots of gelato around, but not fried ice cream. Anyway, this place was quaint but well worth the walk!

After wandering for about two hours, we stumbled upon a little place that looked ok for dinner. Truthfully, because most of us (except Hubby) are maxed out on tapas, we saw the pasta here and sold us!

Ok this is making me hungry and my planned supper feels underwhelming. 😋 🤣

Overall a great visit to Barcelona! We were not here for long, but it felt long.

For Hubby, D15, and I, seeing the works of Gaudi was probably the highlight. D17 found it interesting too but she really loved the Gothic Quarter. My favourite “area” was probably Passeig de Gràcia. D17 said that is probably cause I am a suite snob. We have decided that while Tapas & paella are not terrible, it’s also not our favourite. It’s not something we would ever crave. Hubby was the exception, he loved it all! Rome will be another story I think as we are all pasta lovers!

Headed off to bed now. Ironically, boarding day tomorrow might be one of our quieter days lol

I think the McDonald's in Rome has a chicken parm sandwich. I only remember because my brother brought one.

That sounds right... McDonald's tried those in the US a long time ago. International chicken sandwiches or something. They had a chicken parm for Italy, a French one (fake cordon bleu I think) and one other nation I can't remember.

I had a blast today getting caught back up. The pictures were great. I saw the pictures of the rooftop and immediately knew why hubby was having a great time. I'm not too familiar with Gaudi's work but now I am interested.

If K loved the gothic areas of Barcelona, she will love Eze etc. It's all narrow winding streets. Keep an eye out for flies.

Did anyone give you a hard time at the cathedrals over the bare shoulders? That is definitely a thing in France and Italy (the Vatican for sure). Some won't let you inside. You may want to pack a light cover up on those days if you weren't aware.

Remember, in France, skip the fried ice cream and try to find the violet ice cream.

The food in Italy will be amazing. If hubby loved the tapas, he will like the antipasti there too. A great refreshing one (and one of my favorites) on hot days is prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe.

Oh great…more flies. Better not complain this time 😂

We had our shoulders covered for the first cathedral, but when we got to Sagrada Familia, we noticed no one had their shoulders covered and no one seemed to care. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hmmm 🤔 , it’s 10:36pm NY time, so that means it’s 4:36am in Spain, so, IT’S CRUISE DAY. I hope you rise early enough to enjoy the made to order items at the hotel, and have an easy and relaxing embarkation.

We are on board! No word about the corrupted reservation! Phew!

Barcelona embarkation was smooth. It was about a 20min cab ride from hotel to port. Voyager is docked at terminal B. There is no separate suites area for security. There is a separate suites check in after security. Time from cab exit to ship was about 15-20mins. Very smooth.

We are now at the WJ. Word is that staterooms will not be ready until 2pm 😕

At the Vatican shoulders must be covered. I lived in a small town an hour away from Rome for three months. My niece married an Italian. Her children are West Indies creole mixed with Italian.
