Tamper.

I love that you refer to Tampa that way, like it's something to be messed with. 😉

Do you typically do a room change for a B2B, or is this an upgrade?

lol.  I love screwing with words that end in a vowel (particularly an “a”) sound.  I usually add an “er” to it.  E.g, Florider.  I have a sister (Rhonda) that my grandmother always called Rhonder.  I guess it just stuck with me !

We try not to change rooms w/a B2B but it was unavoidable this time. This cruise (5 night) was actually [a casino comp] booked first and then we added the first leg [also a casino comp] in front of it, later.  Our original room wasn’t available (drats !) so we had to book a different one.  I did put in a RU bid on this leg but it failed. 😢😢. This leg has been sold out for some time, probably b/c it’s a 5 night vs a 4 night.

Also, update on the SL/CL access drama.  Yesterday, Gavin (Suites Concierge) told me that b/c there are 46 Pinns on this sailing, CL/SL access would be limited to the top 20 Pinns.  Last night, Dan came back to the room with the news that they changed their minds (no explanation provided) that all Pinns would be welcome.  So it looks like we’re “on” again.

We had our b’fast in Chops and now we’re waiting in the CL/SL.  At 9:00 we have to move down to the MDR, deck 5, port side, for the B2B shenanigans to begin.  Our wonderful cabin attendant, Jonel, will move our things from our old room to our new room.  Woohoo !  So nice not to have lug that $hit around.

Woohoo! Even without an explanation, I'd think it's nice to know that they seemingly put some thought into it and didn't just let a math formula do the work.

Obviously it's easier and preferable to not switch rooms but on my only B2B ever (just a 3+4), we switched and it went very smoothly. The best part for me was that I could leave stuff on hangers b/c I'm a weirdo and even hang up my t-shirts, lol. Extra hangers is one of our only requests when we meet our cabin attendant.

Hope the rest of turnaround goes smoothly.

Yes, we are grateful that they reconsidered SL/CL access.  I really don’t used the lounge except for morning coffee (which I can certainly get in the DL/CL) but it’s nice to have an option to go wherever I want.

Thanks for the turnaround prayers.  ❤️🥰

And more tequila shots for Dan. 🥃

So, back onboard by 9:45 which is awesome !  They even scanned our new Seapass cards for our muster drill requirement so that was a new one that I haven’t experienced before.  I’ve made both of our BOGO rezzies so we’re now just waiting in the SL/CL for our B2B luncheon at 11:30.

@OCSC Mike, your prayers worked !  Thanks.

I don't think I can take credit but glad it went so smoothly and quickly! It's kinda cool but a bit strange to be on a nearly empty ship. Nice that you got to take care of the BOGO's while there's really nothing else to do other than relax.

This kinda worked against me on this turnaround.  Because we were back onboard SO soon and new cruisers weren’t boarding yet, I had a heck of a time finding someone to do my BOGO for tomorrow night.  I had done tonite’s BOGO at breakfast this morning but didn’t know when I wanted to do our other BOGO so only made the one reservation.  Once back on the ship we decided we want to do Giovanni’s tomorrow night (French night.  ~yawn~) BUT I couldn’t find anyone at either of the specialty restaurants or in the MDR to help me so I grumbled to Guest Services and they ferreted out someone to help me in the MDR.  I guess they really weren’t ready for dining rezzies since new guests weren’t boarding yet.  Since there’s nothing that will pi$$ me off faster than the “runaround” my Karen was beginning to emerge but they tamped it down just in time !  All set !

I am glad there is a B2B luncheon on your sailing. They seem to be few and far in-between.

The numbers for B2B were conflicting. I heard 63 and I heard 75.  I do know that there are a whole bunch of contractors onboard working on pre-dry dock projects so my guess is they are responsible for the different numbers quoted.  My guess is they won’t be included in the B2B luncheon. 😢😢

At any rate, there was a $hit-pot of people in the B2B conga line this morning.

On some cruises I am noticing that the B2B’ers are dumped in with the Key lunch (which is fine with me !  Cream of mushroom soup !) and sometimes there is a separate B2B event.  I’m betting on option #2 today since the numbers are so high.  I can’t recall being on a B2B recently where there wasn’t any kind of luncheon.  Maybe we’ve just been lucky !

My one and only B2B there was a luncheon, but I got the UDP for the second leg, so I never went. I am doing B2B2B on Freedom in May and I am hoping for the luncheon. I would appreciate a leisurely lunch not dealing with the WJ or ELF

Somewhat disappointed in our new [balcony] room.  It is significantly smaller than our balcony on the first leg.  It has only a love seat size couch (1 person) and the closet is half the size of the closet in the old room.   What’s really stunning about this room is that this room claims to have quad capacity !  There is a drop-down bed over the main bed and this half sofa definitely pulls out.   Why in the world would they take a SMALLER room and try and cram twice the number of people in there ?  Also, the bed frame is one of the old, low ones and our big suitcase will not fit under it, so it’s sitting in the corner blocking access to the balcony. Super disappointing.  At least the bed is by the balcony.  The only redeeming quality to this room is its location.  It is very close to the midship elevators and therefore less of a walk.  Oh well…it’s 5 nights.  We will survive.

B2B lunch was the standard B2 B menu (no Key steaks this time !).  I had scallops, short rib and cheesecake.  Dan had split pea soup, spaghetti and cheesecake.  Dinner tonite at Chops (thereby avoiding the crappy welcome aboard menu).

I can’t believe I missed this !  I guess the [small] size of the room mesmerized me….but we have an obstructed view, too !  The top of the lifeboat overhang is directly off our balcony !  I normally go out to the balcony almost first thing but I never did today.  Just now realizing we have an obstructed view.  Too funny.  I don’t know that I even stepped foot out on the balcony of our first room…but it’s still nice to have a full ocean view.  I’m not sure how I selected this room but obviously I need to hone some cabin selection skills.

I have no plans to sail radiance but do you mind saying what floor you are on? I have had issues with Voyager class more than 2pax rooms. I don't understand how or why a room designed to hold 3 or 4 is often smaller than one that is double occupancy.

I always thought top tiers was for 5n and up like the laundry perk. So no surprise there.

So do they lock the seapass of pins not allowed in the SL/CL?

I definitely feel like those small casinos get filled with smoke faster because the vents doesn't work as well. I also agree they can make you feel claustrophobic.

I really don’t know !  I have no idea how they work it.  I assume (but don’t know for sure) that the Seapasses for those not invited to the SL will be “locked” and not be able to open the SL door.  That’s why one of my first drills is to see if mine will open the door.  So far, it has.  The casino is absolutely awful tonite.  I had to leave.

Love hearing someone “won” in the casino.  Table or slots?

My win on night #1 was at Ultimate Texas Hold’Em.  I usually avoid slots but I did play some tonite.  They just bore me.  I played some Gold Rush game and I was lost the entire time.  Even when we were playing a bonus I had no idea what to do.  I got frustrated and just cashed out even though I was staying “even” to slightly ahead on it.  It was so crowded, noisy and Smoky, I just had to get out of there.  I left Dan at the bar.  He’s “home” now.

Calling on Costa Maya today.  It's very windy and the seas are very rough.  Frankly, I am surprised that we actually docked.  The NCL Joy was docked adjacent to us earlier but was not able to get her gangway deployed so she left.

We had planned on going ashore and spending some time in Mahahual/Krazy Lobster but it doesn't seem like this is an ideal day so we're staying onboard.  Tomorrow is COZ again.  I plan on getting off and getting some Azithromycin.  You can get it in Mexico without a prescription but you have to be careful that they actually give you the real deal.  I bought some once and it was fake.  Not sure exactly how to DO that (ensure that it is real) but I'm hoping that if I tell them I got some bogus stuff there once before, they will give me the good stuff.  It wouldn't be first time I ever wasted money on something I bought !

Having the same tech issues here that I had in COZ last cruise.  Once we're in port all of the website ads are in Spanish and I cannot get onto some sites at all.  So frustrating.

Sorry….been slackin’ off the past couple of days.

Nothing of interest to report.  Tonite is the last night on Radiance  We will be in Tampa tomorrow and we will be disembarking with our luggage first thing,  We will meet Gavin, the Concierge Lounge Concierge (something’s not right with that title…) at 7:00 in the Photo gallery (Deck 5).  Hopefully we’ll be walking off shortly after 7:00.

Speaking of the photo gallery, Radiance still has the old timey photo stands with thousands of hard copy photos to go through to find yours.  SUCH a waste of time and money !  I can’t believe that in this day and age they are still analog with the photos !  I hadn’t seen that in years.  Just WOW.

We finally got to the Cinema to see a movie !  I kept meaning to do it for the past 8 days but finally did it last night.  We saw “Haunted Mansion” a Disney movie based on the Disneyland/ World ride.  It was very cute and we enjoyed it.  The only annoying thing was they had subtitles for the hearing impaired and it was very distracting.  I kept trying to ignore them but caught myself reading instead of watching !  Ugh.

After my first night of success in the casino, the rest were awful so I quit going after the first few days,  They’re really wasted points at the point in the casino year so I will hold onto my money in preparation for 4-1-24 and the start of the new casino year.  We’re not getting any offers anyway so why bother  ?

We will be home one whole night before heading down to PoM to board Oasis (or Oasish, as I call it) for 7 nights going to Labadee, PDCC and Falmouth.  I can’t recall the last time I was in Falmouth.  It’s been a while.  At least we will be driving to Miami on a weekend rather than during the week.  It’s a BIT of a break to the horrid traffic.  This cruise (one of Dans casino comps) is the one and only time we have ever received a complimentary upgrade on a casino comp.  Not sure why….but the offer was for an interior and I asked them to price an upgrade to a Central Park balcony.  When the rep came back on the line she said they had authorized a complimentary upgrade.  Woohoo !  So this cruise cost us nothing but taxes, port fees and gratuities.  We are in a CP with double balcony (12229).  I didn’t even bother to do a RU.  We actually really like the double balcony CP so we’re happy.

So tomorrow is laundry and re-packing day.  Off on another great adventure !

I have to have subtitles for all my viewing any more - apparently my hearing sucks. 🤷

Another adventure! Hope the casino is better for you on Oasish. 😉

My hearing sucks too.  At home, we have started using headsets to watch TV. We have no carpeting - all tile - so the acoustics are awful ….plus, my hearing SUCKS.  No subtitles yet !

can’t wait for that liveblog 😍

Not sure I'm going to do a live blog for this one since it's rather "ordinary".

We are home - at least for the next 18 hours.  Laundry is going.  Repacking or should I say, reshuffling has begun.  I actually find this repacking thing to be more stressful than packing from a dead start.  Some things are clean, some things need washing and some things are ???  Dan is terrible about hanging his worn clothes back up....so I am never really sure what has been worn and what hasn't.  So I'm "sorting".

The pulled pork “enchilada” (Dan insists that it’s a chimichanga.  I claim it’s a burrito.  In any case, it is NOT an enchilada) was surprisingly good tonite.  It’s usually a bit dry and tough but tonite it was moist and not too chewy.  Dan had his usual carne asada.  Both of us were happy with our meals.  In addition, I ordered a second entree (fried tofu “taco” which certainly was not a taco.  Go figure…).  I usually enjoy dishes with tofu but this was as tasteless as anything I’ve ever tried.

On 2/24/2024 at 11:39 PM, Ampurp85 said:

My brother said the tofu tacos weren't good.

I wonder if the chefs are getting better at everything on the menus now that they've had a while to work with them.

I remember salting those tofu "tacos" quite a bit to just try to get some, any taste from them. This is a missed opportunity for a sauce since tofu soaks up whatever it is cooked in...

Once again I'm late to the party and no doubt i now need to find your Oasis blog. Had i been on time, i know you don't like tequila, but Cozumel makes amazing Peanut Butter Tequila. You honestly can't taste the tequila .... much. It's like a PB milkshake. It's at Rasta's on the east side of the island. Amazing!

I’m going to keep my word about not starting a live blog for this Oasis cruise….but I have 1 thing to pass on, so I will do it here.  Despite there being 73 Pinns on this cruise, we are all being allowed full access to the CK and the SL with one exception.  Breakfast for Pinns will be in Chops vs CK.

I am a-ok with this arrangement.

Francis, the S Concierge (love me some Francis) said quietly that the “Top 30” thing was an utter disaster.  I have heard the same thing recently from other Concierges.  It appears (my words) that the Top 30 solution is going away and the new philosophy is “come one, come all….at your own risk”.  So, it seems that it will be first come, first served.  I guess it’s to be seen how the Suites guests react and whether or not they will be negatively impacted.

Oh no. I admit I've complained about this a few times myself. I certainly don't begrudge anyone their earned or paid-for perks, but when you combine suite perks and loyalty perks, that waters down the perks for everyone. There has to be a better solution. Whether you're a suite guest or Pinnacle guest without a seat in the lounge or really slow service due to overcrowding, the outcome is the same for both types of guests.
