VACruiser
I only come here waiting to see what the vintages will do next. But, on the other hand, I'm actually a vintage too based upon these age groups mentioned so I hope that I'm not pulling their level of shenanigans on a cruise or preparation for cruise. Whenever I see a blog for a @Ampurp85 cruise I know it's going to be entertaining and we haven't even gotten to what will happen on the ship part. Ampurp85
Day 6 Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day It is cold and expected to be rainy when we depart and possible when we arrive in Galveston, so I am going to repack my carry-on to accommodate the weather. We are about 4 days from travel, and I am on edge. My bff is healing and off the crutches but........his mother had a bad reaction that affected her thyroid, and she has been in the hospital since Sept 30th. I kept asking about her when we spoke, and he was like she is fine and then this past Friday he told me he wasn't sure if she would be able to go because they might have to remove her thyroid. I was like WTF. But then I called to check on her and she said they were just waiting on her levels to go down and then she would be released on is Monday, which is today. I will keep you guys posted if 8 turns to 7 or 6. So, I think this if funny but my brother doesn't. My mother said we are not to believe the blind gent when he says he needs help. She said he can see well enough. Those exact words. She said since they met on an online game, he has to be able to see something, therefore she believes that he is just legally blind. She thinks he is just trying to see what we will do for him so he can be lazy........but my mother has a weird relationship with the truth . I can see her point though and I will see what is what. I have one more meeting and then I am officially on vacation. Of course, I may have to answer a few work emails but nothing too big to dampen my vacation. I wanted some relaxing reads, so I settled on Paul Tremblay's Growing things and Joe Hill's Full Throttle. Both are a collection of short stories in the horror genre. I figure they could keep me grounded, because dealing with the vintages has already been scary , what's a few horror stories???? Fur baby is heading to my grandmother today and my grandmother couldn't be more excited. teddy, WAAAYTOOO, Sweety and 9 others 8 2

SweetPea
I hope your BFF's mom is OK. If it's any consolation, my mom had her thyroid removed in her early 70s. The recovery was fairly painless and very quick. The worst part was waiting on biopsy results because they send out any removed body part to the lab! Ampurp85
Day 4 We are two days from travel, and I am almost ready. However, the shenanigans have not stopped. My bff's mom is still in the hospital, I just found out today (it was supposed to be on Mon) that she is scheduled for release on Thurs. He knew this on Sun but needed to post thirst traps on Twitter before he left because "cuffing season" is upon us, and he needs to secure a man for the winter. Since they aren't scheduling her surgery until late November, he is going even if she isn't well enough. Update on the limo. It is not happening anymore. Since they are vintages who mostly drive, they didn't know about Uber/ XL/Black and Lyft XL/Lux. They thought a limo/car service was the only way to look fancy when they arrive some place. $62 with a tip looks a whole lot better and they can still show off . This also means we are now back to 4 separate transportation options and arrival times because nobody can coordinate. The cruise was sold-out and removed but it went back up yesterday. The website is being weird, so I don't know if it is still available. But I got three RUB emails about an hour ago. Plus, two creepy emails that say, "Alicia in 4 days you will be on Allure of the seas, get your DX now." I think it is weird when they say your name in marketing emails. Today is mani/pedi and all that wonderful jazz, the vintages had a spa day yesterday. Normally they love to be matchy-matchy, you know with red fingers and the same red toes. But according to my mother they went all out.......I will see it and then believe it . I will share my funny faux pas. I did my big wash last week so all the winter bedding and couch covers/pillows would be washed for the upcoming fall/winter season. I was multitasking and not paying attention to details. Well like an idiot I put all my cruise underwear in the summer storage bins. I opened my luggage yesterday to add a sun hat and noticed the checked bag didn't have enough cubes. So, I went all over my stuff and realized I put it in the summer item bin . I do split my items up, but I would have need to run to Tar-zhey. Ampurp85
I once brought a dress on a cruise that requires the belt for it to work.......no belt. LBD is now my best friend when it comes to formal nights. So I left for an errand to return to a flooded kitchen. A pipe busted and they will have to dig up my kitchen floor to fix it. Ampurp85
Update. ... I hate to even mention this......but now I know why there are so many alpha, alpha, alpha calls on ships now. People don't want to lose their money and go sick. Bff mom just got the okay to be released tomorrow morning. The doctor said she is okay to travel as long as she takes it easy. She has requested a wheelchair because she is weak from being in the hospital. So, wheelchair count for the port.......3, that is 3/8. She has also informed me she will not be packing a lunch or any food for the train and will just buy food on the train. SweetPea
I think many of us have learned a lesson from Batman. For the record, I've now sold Batman on the idea of packing cubes, just for his underwear. About 95% of his clothes are black. So is all his under shorts, so they can be easy to miss in the Jenga puzzle that is his suitcase. You'll not be at all surprised to learn that he's now bought "cruise underwear," and it's already packed in a blue packing cube in the suitcase ready for the next cruise. Hey, once bitten, twice shy! I hope you know how seriously i live for your posts. I mean, you do make me feel like I'm going to burn in hell because, hey, our families thought we were in Florida for the entire duration of our cruise so we could be sure to travel with just the 2 of us! I'd say i can't wait for you to get on the ship, but i feel like there's too much entertainment afoot on your journey there. To be clear, entertainment for us. Ampurp85
Day 3 It is technically 3 days until we board Allure. But less than a day before we start travel. We leave on the train tomorrow. Bff's mom has been home since noon and then went to get her hair done for the vacation. She barely has a voice, but she said she don't need no stinking voice. I think I did talk a little crap to @asquared17 about her vitamin/supplement game. But she has converted me. Don't judge I take most of my stuff in gummy form. But man are those individual pill bags a great way to keep track. I got new glasses as my eyesight has improved a bit and my prescription changed. But the new glasses are massive. I went to my local bookstore and the youth said I was giving "eclectic, white, soccer- mom vibes." Granted I was wearing leggings, an oversized-sweater that gave off "shawl," and my Tar-zhey branded knockoff Birks with socks because it is fall. But when did "white" become a "vibe" and an "adjective"? But as my life is cuckoo bananas, all of my favorite, tried and true salons got shutdown for migrant solicitation. I have anxiety and a natural fear about going to salons I haven't been to before a vacation. So, I did my own gel manicure and regular pedicure. It came out pretty good for first time. I probably won't post the vintages because they barely do Facebook, but I probably will throw in a few selfies and photos of my brother and I. Ampurp85
Day 2 IT IS TRAVEL DAY!!!!!! The blind gent made it on his plane safely and has currently landed but they are taxiing on the runway. His special driver will be picking him up at 8:30. Bff and his mom scrambled to pack and be ready for their Uber at 10am today. I received a couple of text around midnight asking for addresses that were included in the emails I am packing my snacks and vacillating between bringing a blanket. I sleep with a fan because I run hot and imagine a blanket on a train would be too warm. It is a wonderful, rainy 55 degrees in Chicago so I could just put on my rain jacket. My mother has been up since 4am, talking loudly with her bf. I am not used to having people stay over and man it messed up my sleep. I am trying something a bit new this time and bringing half my casino budget in cash. I don't know why I decided to try this: knowing I will be on a long train ride, but I can't leave the money at home, can't 100% trust the plumber, and I won't be near my bank. Also, I told my mother I won't be planning anymore cruises like this, and it went over like a lead balloon with her.
