  1. Okay I'm on the ship. Jamie's is at 12:15 but I'm at 270 waiting on the vintages to finish eMuster.

  2. Thanks for the tip! With you a 1000% here. CP is fine, but i don't share the allure that many feel about it. I go on a cruise to feel connected to the ocean, not to feel like i should be watching an episode of Friends. This is my fave cruise newbie question (next to: Hey, i think it would be easier if i dropped my luggage off at the ship the night before we embark. Can i do that?)

  3. The boarding was actually very smooth. Almost a full flight and only 4 children. I slept 45min and then beverage service started so I connected to Wi-Fi for an hour. The young lady across from us is currently filming an only fans......which is insane. She is in-between two vintages and they are asking her lots of questions. Robin told her Jesus loves her despite all of her "heathen behavior ". My brother and I have expired. she definitely took it in stride. Robin brought a full bag of food which included a sub sandwich, chips donuts, muffins, chocolate/candy and nuts. She is eating her sandwich currently....while telling her seat mate that we will be eating at Jamie's on the ship. Luckily enough he is on our cruise but knows nothing . She told him to get a me because I planned everything.

  4. Happy cruise day @Ampurp85 & @WAYNO! Life stress is keeping me from following the blogs as I normally would but I'm sure you'll have a great time. Only been to Alaska once but as I've mentioned numerous times, it was a trip of a lifetime.

  5. I'll be on the same cruise. Travel anxiety? Me too. I'm driving my car, so 5 AM was my wake up. After tossing and turning, I just got up at 4. And my wife was up too, trying to sleep in her chair downstairs.

Phew! I am onboard! Other than pushy crowds, everything has progressed well. We are in Windjammer trying to summons up enough ambition to push my way to the food bars.⁰

  8. Yippee !! So glad you all made it onboard ! I agree with @Cactus527. You NEED a photo of the Vintages next to the Vintages sign !

  9. OK a slight backtrack as I wait for the vintages to complain about something at guest services. The shuttle was supposed to load up at 9:30 but didn't until close to 10am. We made it here around 11am. It was actually pretty empty. We were on the ship in 5min. Which let me say that getting the shuttle they check you in. So we only went through security. Having never been on Quantum but having been on Odyssey I was prepared. It still is beautiful and clean to be the first. It felt familiar but it also feels wrong. Most of the specialty restaurants are on deck 5, vintages looks so clean and fancy. So far the internet is fast. However they have made 2 announcement that the rooms will be ready after 1. We just set to Jamie's.

  10. IM SO GLAD YOU'RE SAFELY ABOARD. can’t wait to see pics of the cabin, and your meal. YOU MADE IT.

  11. It is freezing in Seattle. I have on my coat. We are taking the Royal shuttle which is $34pp. Apparently the rideshares drop you off a ways from the port and the vintages weren't having that. The airport was crowded. I mean insane and on top of that there is tons of construction. So many flight delays and cancelations. I am starving. The shuttle can't come fast enough. Robin has made friends with an 5yr who only brought one bathing suit and loves the movie Emojis. She has declared herself Robin's best cruise friend. This is half the luggage situation.

  13. This is where I was all weekend - upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondaks. The weather was absolutely spectacular, it was essentially still summer up there but the leaves were really changing. We swam, boated, hiked, and I started priming my liver for the Deluxe Beverage Package nonsense I will put it through next week. While l loved this weekend away with my best gal pals, my pre-trip anxiety is reaching near peak levels (this is normal for me, don't be alarmed). Here are most of the reasons why, in no particular order: 1. Our dog. Our sweet, sweet, dumb as a box of hammers labrador retriever named Lilo - has been having some tummy issues. Mr. Reg was home with her all weekend while I was away. He gave her some plain chicken and rice for a couple meals that stopped the flow but now she's too stopped up. I hope she finds her equilibrium again today or tomorrow. I don't want to leave our house sitter with a literal mess or something worse. Our travel insurance doesn't include coverage for "trip disruption or cancelation due to dumb dog who ate something she shouldn't have" 2. The weather. I know, it can't be controlled but dammit I try every time we go on vacation. It's looking rainy on the days I was really hoping it would be super sunny and hot. But, it's still early so you never know. It's the Caribbean - it does what it wants and we will make the best of it. But is my insatiable need for everything to go perfectly making me feel like if it rains it's my fault? Yep. But thank goodness we don't have to fly anywhere! 3. Work. Time away from work always makes me feel guilty. Even though this is our slow season in the cycle for me, we are in the middle of hiring another team member so I'm also managing a full time search and leaving in the middle of it. I haven't decided if I'll be bringing my laptop or not. I will likely need it to do some school/dissertation related work anyway, so I guess I just answered my own question. 4. FOMO. The weekend we get back is Family Weekend at my step-son's college and we're going to miss the bulk of it. His college is on our way home so we will see him on Sunday but all the good events will be over by then. It's his freshman year and his mom lives in Tennessee so we're the only family nearby. I feel so badly we will not really be there for it. He's doing the typical teenage guy thing and saying it's no big deal but he's also been kind of bored the first few weeks of the semester and I know he'd like us there even if only to provide him something to do. Ah, life. In other news, my new dress for formal night came and I LOOK AMAZING. So there's that, lol. I asked Mr. Regular what his clothes situation is like and of course he has no clue. I gave him an assignment to find at least 3 dressy outfits - 2 formal nights and one for chef's table on night 4. He is on the struggle bus so I am sure a mid-week Kohl's run is on the schedule Wednesday or Thursday. To quote @Ampurp85, I am on my self-care this week. I have a wax and pedicure on Thursday and hope to get nails done at home tonight. My hair stylist canceled a trim last month so I will have to tame my own wild hair in the humidity and not looking forward to it. Usually I blow dry it but then it just returns to factory settings anyway by the end of dinner so we'll see what I can actually manage. I thought about buying a bundle of 3 blow-outs at the ship salon but I hate how much the prices are marked up for services onboard. I put together our schedule for the week since the activities calendar is pretty much set in the app. All Mr. Reg wanted to do was cartoon trivia. Glad I spent all that time planning and combing the app every day for the last 6 months. As long as we both get to do what we'd like to do, I'm happy. And on this ship especially, if we are bored it's our own fault!

  14. It is cruise day!! Unfortunately it is also travel day. The vintages have a lot. Almost 5 each because of the food/snack bag they have for this flight. ORD is fairly empty this morning. I was the only person in TSA precheck and got through in 1min. An actual minute because I timed it. My brother got through in around 5min. The vintages requested wheelchairs so we are currently waiting on them. The plane is at the gate and boarding begins in less than 30min. There are tons of people in mask, coughing up their lungs.

  15. Thanks for your fun blog, even if i am late to the party! Any other English majors cringing at this one? And, i HAVE to have this every Chops visit also. Best ever! Thanks again for the fun blog. If Batman goes first, I'm going to try solo cruising, but probably on NCL instead, just because they really cater to solo cruisers and make it really easy for meet ups and partnering for dinner and excursions. Probably. I mean, it's not like I'll book a solo cruise the day after his funeral. The deal is 48 hours of uncontrollable mourning before i enjoy the insurance money ....

  16. IT's CRUISE DAY!!!! You need to get a picture of the vintages in front of the Vintages sign. Only Fans on a flight? Wow, just...heathen is a great word, I should use it more in my everyday vocabulary. Enjoy Jamie's! Am definitely jealous as my current options are cold pizza or a PB sandwich.

  17. Just as @smokeybandit said. Just make sure you understand how to enable wifi calling on your phone and put your phone in airplane mode while on the ship to avoid accidently connecting to their super expensive cell services while at sea.

  18. I had my first layover there last month and never knew the Home Alone franchise was actually filmed in the airport! I hummed Run, Run Rudolph the entire time. hahaha It’s cruise day!!!!!

  19. Voom is all you need. Any carrier cruise package is a waste of money and potentially can cost you a lot more money than advertised. The international day pass is a good option when you're docked and on land, but can't be used while at sea

  22. I've shared PDCC with X several times now, arriving to PDCC on both brands several times now. Way better than Bimini. I don't understand why one or the other has to be exclusive to a brand. By sharing there are more ports of call for both lines to offer. What am I missing?

  25. LOL it's a fear, right? DQ found my blog report from my Freedom trip. She was highly offended that I referred to her as DQ (Drama Queen), but liked looking at the photos. I think we made a deal that I would take her to the community pool that day in exchange for her not telling Spouse. So far, so good... Also, with your reservations: I just got off Allure on Friday. Reserved seating was only about 1/3-1/2 full at each of the venues I was at until they opened it up to people in the stand-by lines. Then it was full. So, if you want to go see a show that you don't have a reservation for, you probably won't have any issues doing so. This was the case for the aqua show, ice skating, comedy club, and theater shows I saw.

  26. YES EXACTLY. I don't want to have to search for the ocean, I want it to be rightthere. CP is beautiful to walk through, but I don't want to stay there again. I didn't even notice until you said something. Doh. Definitely not an English major, ha! LMAO Spouse and I have this really morbid deal too. Every morning, I tell Spouse be safe before going to work. Spouse sometimes responds that I could collect life insurance if there was an accident. However, I always have to point out that the maximum amount I can collect on the life insurance is if Spouse is killed in a plane crash while traveling for work. Then, I'll use the money to pay off the house and go on a cruise. Oh, and maybe pay for Bookworm and DQ's college tuition. Maybe. Cruise first.

  27. [shuddering in remembrance] never. again. (though to be fair, oasis was really pushing the limits the last times we were on her. perhaps it’s just o-named ships in general. ) i love you — and no doubt a triple manned blog with the three of us would be hysterical and a thing to behold — but i don’t know if i can do it even for you both. ….you should all just come on symphony in december with us!!!!!!! we are actual suite class and there are tons of cabins left!!!! and i fear we may be defecting altogether to celebrity if it winds up being the trip we anticipate it being…

  32. To a certain extent, I agree with you but I don't feel that they are being sufficiently transparent and I am inclined to believe this is probably a deliberate ploy to make the itineraries more attractive. How many more people are likely to book a cruise that goes to Venice and Athens than to Ravenna and Pireus? All it would take would be to add the word "for" in the port line, e.g. Ravenna, *for* Venice, to alert people to the fact that they aren't actually porting in those well-known places. This would allow customers to make a more informed decision before they book rather than discover afterwards.

  33. I was so disappointed in the cookies and then my brother's best friend stopped by, he comes to water all the plants during our vacations and he brought me an Oreo Coke. It wasn't as bad as the cookies but it wasn't great either. Neither are a buy. I can't imagine the shenanigans if we all were on a sailing together.

  34. Not that my remaining vacation time isn't already accounted for, but what date?

  35. I tried the soda tonight! I actually think it's better than the cookies, though the entire family thinks otherwise. 3 vs 1 on this one, take your pick. Those Coke Oreo cookies are demon cookies - SEE @asquared17 IT HAS AN 'O' NAME SO IT MUST BE DEMONIC TOO.

  37. I was looking at one of the 11/12 nights on Odyssey in Jan. But I had prime cruises to be booked so I ended up with a Symphony/Oasis S2S.......actually a S2S2S totaling 18 days. @asquared17 might be cruising.......I know she is on Celebrity Ascent Feb 2nd.

  38. We have 11-nights on Odyssey in January. Do you and @asquared17 want to come? I'll make it fun and reframe your Demon Ship opinion of her. Maybe. No promises. But I'm just thinking of what a blog that would make.

  39. It is so funny, I assumed the soda would be too sweet, so I stuck to the cookies. Also I will admit Coke Zero is the best "diet/no sugar" drink on the market. The Zero sugar ingredient is a game changer. I did Odyssey which @asquared17 calls a demon ship. It was during the restart and the 1st sailing after her Med season so I was disappointed. But I no longer have the same feelings since I sailed other classes and ships. Which means I am looking forward to Quantum and this class because I know what to expect. Will I miss CP, the boardwalk and promenade....maybe. But I'm hoping 270 has chips.

  42. Let's be frank: I'm from Arizona. The humidity hovers between 20 to 30% all the time for me. Even though it's monsoon season right now, and the humidity tends to be up near 50%, I'm not used to humidity. Today was horrible in terms of humidity. There's really nothing like sweating in places that you didn't think sweat.

  43. Lunch. It's the only reason I got off the ship - to go to the Snack Shack. Incidentally, I can never find the Snack Shack that is on the map that is not on South Beach. Every time, I wind up at South Beach! It's kind of frustrating, but at least I know where that is. Secret sandwich, fries, cookie, fresh pineapple, and a hungry seagull watching me. Picked up a funnel cake and brought it back to the ship with me. I really loved seeing the Sandcastle decked out for the ultimate world cruise. That was kind of a fun take on it. And now some stray pictures that I took in my 1+ hour of sweaty sweaty madness on PDCC.
