Debstr66
This is so sad, I feel so bad for his family and all the passengers and crew who are going through this tragic loss. Lucky
This is certainly very sad and unfortunate, but you'll have a hard time convincing me it was accidental. Linda R, Ryan79, texaskstar and 1 other 3

I don't like to go based on other posts and comments, but quite a few posts about this incident seem to indicate he might have been climbing from one balcony to another. bobroo
I hope the old man and his soapbox doesn't ask me what parkour is. Because it looks like that could certainly be the case. ScottD

Unintentional, but not accidental. Balconies remain undefeated in ensuring no one has fallen from them. Fallen from the balcony railing or divider? That's different. Geezer Of The Seas
As I recall, this isn't the first incident of this type involving "interior" balconies on an Oasis Class vessel. Though overboards and incidents like this are a rather infrequent occurrence, have to wonder at what point do cruise lines eliminate or modify these "attractive nuisances" (as PI attorneys refer to them)? We'll be sailing in a giant enclosed box?
WhiteSoxFan
"We are saddened to learn of the passing of a guest, and our hearts go out to the family. Out of respect for them, we won't provide any further comment." Based on this statement from RC I'd say the rumors may be correct.
Ditchdoc
Probably a teen just being reckless. Already some are saying "RC needs to do a better job protecting us". Its truly sad and unfortunate but we have got to stop blaming others for our own ignorance. Geezer Of The Seas
Well stated Ditch Doc. It's an utter tragedy..........and was totally preventable but for adolescent delusions of invincibility. A close look at balconies with the yellow tape on TMZ site tells me everything. The tables were right up against the balcony glass. Someone was likely trying for a social media moment. Ryan79 and rjweber3 1
Greg R
I was on this sailing. I had spent time at the casino till late, then went to Sorento's with my 2 adult children. I got back to our cabin and was just about to fall asleep about 3am when they came over the speaker looking for blood donations. I had never heard anything like that on a cruise before, I don't remember there ever being an announcement so late. I felt bad the next day that I didn't go down to see if they need blood still. I think I am the correct blood type but I am not sure so I hesitated going. We didn't know at the time what happened but my wife and I walked through Central Park and wondered what the tent and taped off area was for. It was very sad later to find out that someone had gotten seriously hurt falling from a balcony and until we got back, we didn't know they had passed away. It is very sad to hear, but I don't believe anyone can simply fall over a balcony, I am 6'3" and the railing still is high on me., I can't imagine that I would be able to just fall over it. Sitting on or climbing on is the only way that I can see someone accidently falling from a balcony. Ditchdoc
I wonder about the Captain and those directly involved. Safety and human life come first and there are several decisions when it comes to providing the best care possible. You can bet the Captain collects every bit of information possible and reports are written by everyone involved. Then the Captain no doubt has to file his own report based on all information available. Everything will then be reviewed and scrutinized for cause and what can be done if anything to prevent a future occurrence.

TravisMA81
If people don't stop climbing on the balcony rails and falling off, cruise companies are going to enclose the balconies with glass or put a net underneath them.

No they won't, ridiculous statement. There has been no successful litigation against cruise lines with respect to negligence or liability in any balcony or railing design. These designs are based on international standards for safety, there is absolutely no reason to circumvent these standards to prevent stupid people from doing stupid things. BrianB
I appreciate the company’s position of withholding information out of respect for the family…and the process. I agree that they have more substantial evidence including cameras and witnesses. But there’s no immediate need to satisfy curiosity or quell rumors at the expense of prematurely reaching an official conclusion until all of the investigative processes are complete…from all agencies involved. Then they can issue a carefully worded statement addressing the cause. Litigation will likely follow, as usual…a life was lost and all avenues need to be explored as to how it happened, what preventive measures were reasonable to ensure it didn’t happen, and can anything be done to prevent it from happening again. Condolences to his family and friends. Hoppy2BHere, Linda R and teddy 2

You should research the history of these incidences; there is a fairly sizable group of people that want exactly what you described. My apologies, I could not tell you were joking, and weren't one of "them".
