  1. I was on this sailing. I had spent time at the casino till late, then went to Sorento's with my 2 adult children. I got back to our cabin and was just about to fall asleep about 3am when they came over the speaker looking for blood donations. I had never heard anything like that on a cruise before, I don't remember there ever being an announcement so late. I felt bad the next day that I didn't go down to see if they need blood still. I think I am the correct blood type but I am not sure so I hesitated going. We didn't know at the time what happened but my wife and I walked through Central Park and wondered what the tent and taped off area was for. It was very sad later to find out that someone had gotten seriously hurt falling from a balcony and until we got back, we didn't know they had passed away. It is very sad to hear, but I don't believe anyone can simply fall over a balcony, I am 6'3" and the railing still is high on me., I can't imagine that I would be able to just fall over it. Sitting on or climbing on is the only way that I can see someone accidently falling from a balcony.
  2. We checked in a week ago for our 11/24 cruise on Allure and got a 10:30, I just looked a few minutes ago and it has changed to 11:30
  3. I say try the train for a cruise out of the south. Then let me know how it went. I'm thinking of doing that in the fututer.
  4. I'd like to go more, but we like seeing other parts of the country too. You'll have to let me know how the Allure cruise was. Mine is the day after Thanksgiving and a bunch of family is going along so I could get away with a holiday cruise.
  5. I'm on Allure next month for a 3 day, but I have Star class for the first and maybe only time so I'm not sure what I'm going to do this time for food. I see you are a City fan, I live east of UCF so only a 40 minute drive to the port so hopefully will be doing some more short cruises the coming years.
  6. I actually don't think that I have eaten on the island except maybe the first time I was there. I usually am ready to get back on the ship by lunch time.
  7. A Taco Bar? I've been there a few times now, I didn't know there was a Taco Bar
  8. Well I am certainly guilty of wearing what I guess you would call sweat pants to the Windjammer, they are nice Adidas brand tracksuit type. I know for certain I have worn them there for breakfast as my normal routine would be up at 6:30 for a walk on the track and then to breakfast. I've been on some cooler cruises so I might have worn them to lunch also. I do draw the line at Dinner though. I usually am wearing a long sleeve button down maybe a tie and coat. Times have changed though as there was a time that nobody would have worn a hat at the dinner table, and on a ship everyone would dress up. I live in Florida and even nice restaurants you will see people in shorts. I guess that is because of the 95 degrees and 80% humidity. I guess at 55 I am officially old and I just don't think its appropriate to come to dinner dressed that way. I won't let it bother me though and I will enjoy my meals. I did find one person odd on a cruise, he wore a baseball style hat every night to dinner, even when he was wearing a suit. I was just more intrigued than anything else, then realized it was because he was going bald. I guess he didn't want people to notice.
  9. We had a cruise tour in July, we stayed at the "Auberge Vancouver Hotel". It is 2 blocks from the terminal, and 2 blocks from the train station. It was the easiest thing to take the train from the airport and walk to the hotel and then in the morning walk through the small park to the terminal. I think the train was $9.00 or something like that. The prices were reasonable and the rooms were clean and spacious. Our friends room even looked out at the terminal.
  10. Its about an hour from WPI to PE by car, by the time you either get the train or an Uber to get you all the way down to PE it will cost you almost the same as having flown into FL. Save the hassle and fly into FL.
  11. Watching a block of ice melt is better than cats. Someone needs to explain to me how that made it so big on Broadway, it was the worst.
  12. Its all about supply and demand. People want to sail on Icon because it is the newest shiniest thing out and are willing to pay the price, so Royal is going to charge accordingly. When demand goes down like you see on the older ships then the price goes down. I love the Oasis class ships, and I would like to go on Wonder as it is only 40 minutes away so I am just waiting for the prices to drop a little, or at least I am hoping they do. I'm on Allure in November and I think the price is reasonable for that ship. I like Independence too, and would go on it multiple times for weekends but they are moving her for Allure.
  13. If you go for the 11:00 am slot for arrival at the ship then you wont feel like you are rushing. That time of the morning on a Friday I'm assuming for the 3 night shouldn't be too bad. If there is any accident though it gets tougher as there is only one direct way from the airport to the port, all the other roads take you on a much longer trip. I drive the road every day from home to work, normally its no problem.
  14. I just received my first offer from the Blue Chip Club. I couldn't tell you how much I actually wagered over the 7 night cruise. I spent quite a bit of time at roulette, then a little bit at blackjack, craps, and also some time at the video poker. I wasn't spending anything much and the first couple days I was up a few hundred, by the end of the cruise I think I lost about $200 total, to me that is just spending on entertainment. Again I wasn't betting anything like some of the people I saw that were putting down hundreds if not thousands at a time on roulette and walking away with nothing. This guy was talking about me betting conservatively, but I was up a few hundred and he was down a few thousand. My point being is that you can get offers from the casino without breaking the bank to do it. I wasn't going to get rich playing like I was, but I was having a good time and now have gotten a free cruise out of it. It was worth my time and I enjoyed myself.
