AshleyDillo
One Sky is one of those medley shows that I have become accustomed to expect for cruiseship entertainment. It is a bunch of songs with singing and dancing. All the songs tie together loosely by a common theme. In this case the theme is "sky". Bet you didn't see that one coming. Some songs sounded familiar and a couple I knew for sure (looking at you Britney Spears). Basically whatever songs Royal could afford to license for this. It was singing and dancing and choreography and some aeralists. Not bad for the 2nd (I think) actual full show. Impressive props and all, it was still no Flight. It was an enjoyable 50 minutes and one didn't leave the theater scratching their heads....looking at you The Gift. Meat party!!! Bone in ribeye Filet with meat tartar sauce, photobombed by asparagus..dry, no salt, no butter, no fun. Thanks mom They haven't started decorating for the holidays yet. I helped. Also, found the butter for my aspargus. My steak tasted faintly like a Christmas tree. Otherwise it was decent; more impressive than my prior Chops experiences. Not saying much as we got the special @WAAAYTOOO treatment with barely lukewarm food. Still on #teamGiovannis when it comes to the best filet. Coastal Kitchen didn't get a fair shake as we are in genpop this sailing. No dessert for me as I couldn't finish my steak and thus I don't deserve dessert. My mother didn't finish either as she didn't gnaw off all the meat from the bone. But she doesn't play by the rules. Warm chocolate cake She forced me to order a dessert so she could try two..but buttered asparagus is bad for you Key lime pie All this washed down with the swill I affectionately ordered as the free Diamond red stuff. Merlot, Cabernet they asked...I just nodded and said the stuff that you eat with steak. It tasted like wine that people who know nothing about wine would drink. It swirled around the glass just like the expensive stuff the table next to us ordered. This is night 3 in a row that I ordered red wine but then realized the entree I really wanted was fish. I had no choice but to order red meat as to not upset any nearby Pinnacles for wining wrong. We all know they are the experts at wining. AshleyDillo
My mother wanted to get off the ship for a bit to see what there was nearby the immediate port area. Spoiler alert: Pretty much a small carbon copy of every other Caribbean port. The Oasis class ships dock at Crown Bay which is lacking the shopping and attractions of the other port, Havensight. You have to take a taxi to get to downtown or Havensight and it is $4 per person each way. Taxi in St. Thomas is code word for an open-air ride in the back of a pick-up truck that has been modified with a canopy and bench seating. My mother noped out of that one. Good news is that you and your camera CAN survive falling off the back of one. Right, @CGTLH? AshleyDillo
We headed back to the ship and decided to grab some lunch. As is usual on port days, Windjammer was the best option that had air conditioning. It beat out El Loco Fresh (outdoors), Park Cafe, Sorrentos and Cafe Promenade (limited selection). Johnny Rockets, Playmakers, and Portside BBQ weren't open yet. Wasn't too busy as most folks were still in port. We still had to walk all the way to the back to find an empty table. One of the nice things that appears to have been added in the amplification is the hand-washing station area as you immediately enter. Unlike on Symphony, the hand-washing station area is very open and does not feel quite as claustrophobic. Of course I scouted my favorite Windjammer selections in the Asian station..Indian food! They had dal, mutter paneer, and chicken curry today. Lunch with a view JohnK6404, heffy2, Guy Gadwa and 1 other
AshleyDillo
During the amp they did not add the hot stations that had been on Harmony and Symphony. It's a beverage station.
