twangster Posted July 17, 2024 Report Posted July 17, 2024 Quantum goes to Alaska for the summer of 2025. It appears Ovation will stay in Los Angeles for the summer of 2025. For example, June 3 - 6, 3 night Ensenada from LA. It appeared the Q class west coast plan was to have them do Alaska in the summer then Mexico in the winter months from LA. Now it seems they'll have a Q class doing summer trips to Mexico from LA. I can only assume that the China itineraries weren't selling well and they weren't ready to put a ship in Australia for their winter so they decided to redeploy Ovation to LA for the summer. dr martini Posted July 17, 2024 Report Posted July 17, 2024 selfishly want navigator back in the Caribbean somehow but with all the new ships the last couple years that's not in the works. maybe something stationed outside of FL like in the bahamas or on another island (like they did with Grandeur out of Barbados? never heard much about how that went but obviously not ideal timing) do we see that happening again anytime? the big FL ports have room for 4-6 RC ships each? I guess I just didn't assume they would assign ships in US ports for such short periods. I have no idea why I thought this. Quote

Navigator is a great ship but we have plenty of great Royal Caribbean ships sailing from East Coast ports. Let LA keep Navigator because without Navigators success out West there would be no Q Class ships schedule to sail from Los Angeles. Hopefully we will continue to see Royal get stronger out West especially out of California and at some point hopefully be able to really Challenge Carnival which has multiple ships based out of California ports. TessFromFlorida Posted July 17, 2024 Report Posted July 17, 2024 Ovation is my favorite ship.... they are lucky! Quote
Chili Posted July 19, 2024 Report Posted July 19, 2024 I think RCG will probably build a terminal in L.A and develop some ports in Mexico . It looks like Lelepa is dead and maybe a Mexican island or resort could be possible . DDaley 1 Quote
smokeybandit Posted July 19, 2024 Author Report Posted July 19, 2024 I'm curious how long it'll take for them to open up reservations now that the cat is out of the bag. Quote
Zambia-Zaire Posted July 20, 2024 Report Posted July 20, 2024 I’m pleased to see a Quantum Class Ship will start porting out of LA…love the idea of doing some Mexican Rivera cruises on the West Coast….easy drive to LA. However, I would love to see Ovation do some Pacific Coast Cruises, up in down the West Coast of Vancouver to LA/San Diego, as well. Orchids 1 Quote
CruisingNewb Posted August 15, 2024 Report Posted August 15, 2024 Navigator for 3 and 4 night Mexico was perfect. Ovation is such an awesome ship that I may do the Mexico 3 nighter again and again! Jenn G-MEI Travel 1 Quote

I've mentioned it many times over the years but I would love to see a ship home ported in Seattle year round. Ovation is perfect with 2 solariums and the sea plex. Mark_A Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 I booked Ovation for 6 nights Next September, it has an overnight stay in Cabo. Thought that was interesting..... Thumper44 1 Quote
Vancity Cruiser Posted August 19, 2024 Report Posted August 19, 2024 Interesting to have an overnight in a tender port. I assume there will still be a back on board time as the tenders will not run all night. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote

I assume there will still be a back on board time as the tenders will not run all night. Ovation used to have overnight stays in Maui which was a tender port. They ran tenders all night but it was reduced to hourly service. They hired a land based tender for the overnight service so that crew was free to go off shift and rest with the ship's tender/lifeboats stowed on board for the night. If I recall the ship tenders were used until 10pm and at that point the local tender would go back and forth. By the time that one boat completed a full cycle (load, drive to ship, unload, load, drive to port, unload, etc.) it was pretty much one hour per cycle. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
bobroo Posted August 20, 2024 Report Posted August 20, 2024 @twangster is exactly correct about those overnights in Lahaina back in the day. If you were at all like me and closed down Fleetwoods, you’d get rewarded with your own personal tender back to the ship. I am looking forward to doing the Cabo Wabo on my Sept ‘25 Ovation sailing. As a matter of fact, I’m going to play that old Van Halen song now for guidance on how to spend quality time in Cabo San Lucas. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
Chili Posted November 21, 2024 Report Posted November 21, 2024 Currently on Quantum, sailing from Singapore to Brisbane. The captain was saying that a private destination on the west coast Mexico is in the pipeline and will be the next big announcement. Vancity Cruiser, WAAAYTOOO, Southern Dan and 3 others 3 1 2 Quote

Destinations from the west coast are so limited. asquared17 1 Quote
