Ampurp85 Posted January 16 Author Report Share Posted January 16 Sea day continues The weather has been pretty bad. High winds and rain, then just clouds galore. So the tiny humans are just shenanigans galore and everywhere. My brother went to the gym and he said so many were playing on the machines. He said he heard lots of noise and crying, obviously some hurt themselves. I went to the casino and lost most of my big win . There is tons of trivia and shows but it's packed......not even standing room. I must mention again my mother is a mess. She talks so much......and never listens. Which brings me to Jamie's. My go-to were always the aracini, garlicky prawns and bolognese. They got rid of one and changed the other two. There also use to be a burger on the lunch menu, it was replaced with a chicken sandwich. We got all the apps but the meat plank. The burrata is covered in honey and nuts now, it's meh. The aracini were good, so was the ultimate garlic bread. I got the chicken sandwich and the new penne arabiatta and both were delicious. My mom got super salmon and narrated how delicious it was for the 20min it took her to eat. I asked for half portions of pasta and the bolognese was garbage, oily garbage nobody ate. My brother asked for large portions and got small ones of the truffle tagetelle and seafood linguine. He also got the chicken sandwich and loved it. They had pineapple sorbet. I did a quick walk on deck 5 and it's pretty dark. Everyone is dressed up for formal night. So many tiny humans in suits and pretty dresses. I came back to the room and the balcony was of course open and created that vacuum of air. They were definitely tuna melt style in Park Cafe on Wonder in June. One of my rare food complaints... I used to enjoy the paninis there (as did my wife provided they listened and pressed them long enough to make the bread crispy). They used to take a pre-made cold sandwich and put it in the panini press (as they should). In June, they weren't using the panini press (they were still there though). They were taking the sandwich and sticking it in some sort of convection oven type thing. You know I'm not picky but this is not a panini. It left one side of the sandwich crispy and the other side soft. Ampurp85 Posted January 17 Author Report Share Posted January 17 Day 3 Cozumel The plan for today is my brother has snuba and my mother and I will go walk the port until he is done and we get lunch. I am in the Crown Lounge which is fairly empty, eating a breakfast of chocolate croissants and fruit. There is no OJ. I want to back track a little. My mother might be the worst. She has no respect for us or anyone. We have know this but it was insane to watch. First she doesn't pay attention to anything. Despite being on this ship before, she knows where nothing is. She didn't realize Jamie's was in the WJ. But she walks with such confidence . We get to Jamie's and we have a very nice server who welcomes us and goes over the menu for the newbies. Every time he delivers something, she says "what's that?" After the 5th time I asked how was her memory and she said she didn't listen to nothing he was saying . She does this everywhere we go and we have to explain things to her. I think it is rude, add this to her constant talking, lack of proper bathroom etiquette and other bad habits......mean we will not sail in a room with her again. . She also claimed to be independent but won't go nowhere without one of us. After Jamie's we went to the casino and my mom won $100 and was over the moon. She barely gambles so she thought it was everything. There was a big thing because a lady claims she went to the bathroom and left $8 in a machine. Another lady sat down and started playing, the other lady called crew over and threatened to beat that lady's @$$. This lady tried to apologize but she couldn't confirm if there was actually money. But this lady kept requesting her $8. It went on for like 30min. My mother heard the loud talking and made up a scenario in her head.....which involved cheating lovers We had MTD and got our same waiters because we tipped the first night, they requested we be sat in their section. French night is my least favorite menu. My brother got escargot again and the roasted chicken. I got the beef tenderloin. My mother got the chicken and a Ceasars salad. She likes oil and vinegar. Last time she didn't eat the croutons, Nelson our waiter, asked if she would like them removed. But she wasn't listening and just stared ahead, I tried to repeat what he said, it didn't register until after the salad arrived and she mentioned she shouldn't have gotten croutons . After dinner I was tired so I went back to the room and got ready for bed. I had the worst sleep, since my brother took the higher bed, she was next to me snoring. Then the stupid balcony door staying open all night. I woke up congested. I took my supplements and vitamins, so I feel a little better. Stray observations... There are a ton of tiny smalls, that are everywhere being tiny smalls. Diamond members are bringing non-diamond members to the lounge. WJ is only open on one side for dinner. The price for JR is $14.99+grats, which is almost $18. It is not worth that price. They have aggressively been trying to sell specialty dining. We were told we could D+ bogo up until day 4. Ymmv. Ampurp85 Posted January 17 Author Report Share Posted January 17 We got off. It rain for 2 seconds and the sun came beaming out. Then it started raining hard as we made our way back to the ship. Wonder is parked next us and she is a beauty. I can't wait to board her in 4 days. Despite plenty of notices saying not to smoke in Mexico, people do and I getting fines. We brought bags and watched a man curse out an officer. The port is congested. With wonder, msc and the Carnival breeze, we couldn't get a seat at any of the places until after 1pm. So the WJ will be our best bet unless we do Playmakers again. Besides they want $20+ for entrees and with drinks and the way my brother eats we would have spent $200. I could gamble with that. I forgot to mention that our cooler gets nice and cold. We have been getting our vouchers and putting the drinks in there. Ampurp85 Posted January 17 Author Report Share Posted January 17 There have been 4 periods of rain today. The last one was a downpour. I was in a packed Crown Lounge, watching pier runners. I felt so bad for everyone. The door to outside isn't working, so nobody can access the other tables outside. This lounge can barely hold 25 people. Ellington is used for the nightclub but dead in the daytime. So people are taking snacks and going there. We ate at the WJ. The had a stir fry in either veggies, chicken or beef. I got that and it was good but fatty. My mother got a burger and my brother got 3 full plates. i went back to the room and napped for an hour. We have evening service so we left the room around 4:30 so he can clean......they played cards on the pool deck. I wanted no parts of that . I chatted with Susan and Pete from Vancouver about Celebrity cruises and how uncouth Royal is in comparison . Oh so we were in the room when the person delivered the C&A sweet amenity. My mother answered the door and was like we don't want that, we didn't order room service. I can out of the bathroom and thanked the confused crew member. I didn't know that was a thing. But the slots were really tight and this made my mother mad. It was Mexican night in the WJ and MDR. At 6 the line for the WJ snaked down the stairs, so I took the elevator to the casino and there were children playing on them. I talked to two nice couples from Florida who cruise monthly in casino comps while we waited. Dinner was okay. Because of the tipping our servers are extra. I mean they stay at our table, which imho makes us seem greedy because they will bring random things out. Like we love the seed bread. Tonight it was a combo of the seeds and cheese bread.....and it was warm. They brought us a basket and 2 plates of bread. My brother finished it. But it was a lot. There is other stuff but the ship is rocking insanely hard, we are speeding or something and I am actually nauseous. So I am going to drink a seltzer and lay down. Ampurp85 Posted January 18 Author Report Share Posted January 18 Day 4 sea day. Last night was insane with the rocking. I had to lay completely flat for an hour for the nausea to go away. But to backtrack. My mother shenanigans are starting to wear thin. She proceeded to have a very loud, both earbuds in ear so my voice is loud, conversation at midnight with her bf. Who is 70 and hard of hearing. Then as soon as her head hit the pillow, fell asleep and started snoring like wood being cut. She and my brother got into it because she insist on putting her phone to charge constantly. Like if she uses 10% of her battery she has to get it back to 100%. Neither of us care but, she narrates everything so it seems like she is complaining. So my brother offered advice and she got emotional and loud. At dinner our server tried to talk to her about Cozumel and she ignored him. We had to apologize. She drinked 3 daiquiris from our vouchers and was loose. She tried to tell a lady who sat down next to her at "her" machine if she must sit there don't smoke. The lady sat down lit a cigarette. This is supposed to be a relaxing cruise because I packed Wonder. Yet she asked every hour "what's the itinerary?" I keep telling her if she wants to do something, do it. But she doesn't want to do anything alone. In the WJ she had a very loud conversation about someone stealing from her job. So many people were staring. She is a bathroom hog. She takes 2hrs to get ready. We both try to give her time. I get up early, my brother goes to the gym and yet we come back 90+min later and she hasn't been in the bathroom. She just sits there watching her phone charge. Meaning we can't completely use the bathroom because she is half done. Anyway, rant aside, I slept to 8:30, showered and left the room around 10. I played and lost what I was comfortable with and then went to the ice show. It was good and only one skater fell. We then hit the WJ before we do the escape room at 3:30. This is how I missed out on Season 2 of Rupaul back in the day, and had to wait for it to come out on iTunes (that sounds so archaic ). You’re so close to a mother-free Wonder experience! But she doesn't want to do anything alone. OMG My Mother Was The Exact Same Way. Your Mother is a travel demon from the fiery pits of hell, like mine. LOL. My Mom's gone 13 years March 1st. One of my biggest regrets was cutting our trip short and jumping ship in Puerto Rico to Fly home early because of the exact same behavior. I wish I had it to do again. You will someday be very happy to say "at least we were there". No such thing as a perfect "family trip". Oh and she wouldn't let me leave alone either. I had to buy 2 last minute $1000 tickets and spend 12 hours traveling home with her. Defeating the purpose of getting away from her. LOL. So I totally get it. But hang on tight to every good moment/memory you can salvage. I promise you will not regret making the most out of it in the end. Keep making lemonade kid!!!
