How do you carry cash on board (when boarding)?

We plan to take cash, for tips, with us.  Might be a bunch of $1.00 bills, to thick for my wallet.  Once in our cabin, they will be stored in the safe.  But what's the best way to carry onboard?

I always wear a pouch under my shirt with extra cash and id/CC. It keeps stuff safe when traveling or in port. Too many people are pick-pocketed, sometimes electronically. I feel safe on the ship but it's getting there that's risky. Backpacks can be lost in 2 seconds.

Remember that the aliens gave us AirTag technology. It is basically impossible to lose something in 2023 unless you want it to get lost.

I may or may not be correct here but…I think @Oldguyis asking more for how to carry some of the bills around perhaps while in a bathing suit, etc.   Not so much for getting on board but while walking around onboard.

For a girl it’s easier as I typically will have a small bag with me poolside.  I also have a phone case that looks more like a book cover and it has slots where I can fold up a few bills.  So men….do you have pockets in your swim trunks?

The only thing worse than wet money is no money at all. A backpack solves all problems. There’s not many thief’s looking to get booted off a cruise ship for stealing a 10.00 stack of singles used for tipping.

Yes and mine secure shut with velcro. This is more for when we go snorkeling off a boat or on CocoCay but I also have a small waterproof hard plastic case that holds a handful of bills and a few cards (sea passes, ID, CC, etc.). That's where all that stuff goes on those occasions, in the case and into a velcro pocket.

As far as boarding, we have a bank envelope with a bunch of ones for tipping and another with the rest of the cash we bring for larger tips, shopping, etc. That money goes into a small zippered pouch which goes into the bag my wife uses as a carry-on along with the other important stuff like passports, meds, etc.

We don't carry gobs of change on board with us.  We do have some (maybe 10, $1 bills and other assorted change, each).  We bring larger bills and then make change as we go along at Guest Services.  This is pretty easy for us to do since we are in and out of the casino all the time and always have cash around....but I think it will work for anyone, TBH.  I agree with @Bob_KY that it is wise to have some change tucked away in a couple of places but we never have uber amounts of change at any one time.

I usually don't bring a lot of cash, just a few dollars for tips on Day one and I keep it in my small manbag when I am at the pool, along with my phone, and other small items.  When I need cash on board, like before a port call, or towards the end for tipping steward and dinning room staff, I head to the casino.  The casino is the best ATM on the ship with no service fees, no ATM fees, and I even get 3% cash back rewards on my card.  Just go to a slot machine, charge to your room, and hit the cash out button.  Just tell the cashier if you want small bills and they will give them to you.

I  used large envelope. I put all my documentation in the envelope. And 2 small letter envelopes with some cash. The one big envelope went into my backpack so everything was one reach away.  We took a taxi to the terminal from the hotel.  I grabbed out one envelope knowing that I would tip/pay the driver and then the porters at the terminal. Then I was done with that one envelop.  Once onboard and in my room,  all documentation went to the safe. A few days later, prior to going to Nassua, I grabbed the  remaining envelops and  took that cash with me, in my wallet.

I took 5s and 1s. The fives went to the porters. The ones for other things.

I carry cash too.    We both carry some cash in carry-on bag, in an envelope.  Never an issue.  As you said, once onboard we put it in safe.  Just carry what we need each day in pocket or purse.

Also when we travel to Europe we have foreign money.  Sometimes 2 or 3 types for different countries.  We also carry all that on in our carry-on bag.  Each type of money in its own envelope or small zippered pouch.
