well i’ll travel with you if batman defects — but honestly — inquiring minds need to know!!!

today he escorted us to the suite sun deck, calling us crazy without calling us crazy, asking what's wrong with our own balcony. Just order some cocktails and enjoy the hot tub (you Idiots ... that part was implied).

i mean maybe you don’t want to be on display for the passerby heading to the WJ… or maybe you DO want the people watching 😂

i am glad you have connected with leticia, sherman and abdul. i was concerned when you first came aboard that it would be a miss and was chalking it up to first day/turnaround struggles. this makes me happy 💚 that things have turned around.

I will give you the sentence starter/story prompt 😉

Another dupe.

I'll add this tidbit primarily because i know @Lovetocruise2002 likes these kinds of juicy deets.

On Oasis, each week 3 out of 4 Genies serve 3 SC rooms. One Genie will have 4. They rotate having 4 rooms. The 4th room will typically be 1720. So if you're in 1720 on Oasis, your Genie will be the one who has 4 staterooms. I don't think I'd ever pick 1720 voluntarily for this reason.

We've not seen our Derick this cruise because he's got 4 staterooms this week, albeit they're a group/ family sailing together in 4 different SC cabins.

While we do like this cabin a lot, if you're in the OP or GP, you need to know about the lack of privacy on the balcony and noise bleed from the pool.  Neither has bothered us, just something to be aware of. Also bring clips to help close any curtain gaps.

You know about the shower handle and the shade issue. Both are fixed now.

Today our door became impossible to open. Our room service person must've reported it for us because that is already being fixed as well.

It's never the problem; it's how it's managed. Zero complaints here.

And I've realized I've left you hanging ....

We did go to Blaze last night, but they were holding the comedy show there. So no dancing, no clubbing.

That would've been the safer bet.

I refer you back to the title of this blog ...

So then we tried Playmakers again, which was mad stupid considering it was Monday night.

We then thought we'd try the Schooner Bar. Is the Schooner Bar the old people hang out? I mean i know we're old, but we do not yet have matching haircuts old.

So we wound up back with Jackson at G&A.

Big mistake.

Huge.

The second he saw us, i saw the beginnings of lemon drop shots which we did not order.

Batman said, nah, they aren't for us.

I'll let you figure out where that went. And it ends with us not being rude and refusing them. It was the polite thing to do after all.

Not pictured: said first round of lemon drop shots.

We are taking it slow today and tonight because we although we're idiotically unfrugal, i did not spend $1799 +tax for us 2 idiots to sleep in our OTW cabana all day tmw. (Even more stupid ... $1799 was a great price! It climbed to over $2400).

Dinner tonight at CK and then some Headliner show. And if we're smart, bed.

However,  I think we've all figured out by now that "smart" doesn't exactly belong in this blog ....

Plausible deniabilty. I like it.

I may have to resort to this.

However, i think i need to leave you all in suspense until tomorrow when I'm free to have some liquid courage.

I can only hope it will be worth the wait at that point. We'll see.

Actually, I'm fairly certain it will be worth the wait if i can find the words to describe it in the manner it occurred.

Now i wish i hadn't said that. I'm not building this up only to have you say, that? That is what we waited for?

I'm going to cut my losses now and hope for the best tmw.

Do you need us to swing by and pick you up to join us? I can ask the Genie to work her magic.

I'm so sorry you were triple whammied! I hope you are OK!

What kind of shots are in the pictures? I am always up for trying new ones!

First, thank you for assuming i would know.

Second, i know for sure that the milky one was the classic B52.

I believe he called the green one a melon ball.

The one that looks like orange juice actually included peach schnapps, and does not come with the #Team1701 stamp of approval, but is passable for the 4th shot.  Not recommended for your first.

I'm sorry to say we took a break from food porn pics tonight.

But you can easily follow the Day 3 dinner menu of CK to follow along.

I had the French Onion soup, which i made the mistake of ordering with the spinach salad. Only because i thought the spinach salad would be small. It was huge, but in my defense of eating almost all of it, it was primarily spinach and it was full of deliciousness. I didn't need to order both a soup and salad. But of course i did.  Because, of course.

Batman had the shrimp appetizer, which is a given any time it's offered.

I did the Cod, and the fish was reasonably good. Our waiter, Satish, noticed i was clearly enjoying the tomato sauce it came with more and gave me a huge extra side of it.

Batman had the salmon, but only because he wanted the hollandaise sauce, of which he also received extra. Again, Satish said in somewhat horror, sir, do you know that comes with zucchini?! Is that ok? Yes, zucchini is a major "won't" in our world, and Leticia once again was looking out for us. Love her so, so much!

We're off to some Headliner show, which i understand is an illusionist. Whatever that is. YOLO.

The illusionist, Jason Bishop, was a comedic magician, which is now termed an illusionist. Apparently.

IDK, it was worth the 45 minutes or so of our time.

And now we think we're behaving, but we all know that in a series of questionable decisions, i just opened a bottle of Moet. But that's OK because we're not out tonight. We're drinking responsibly, at home.

Clearly this is the epitome of adulting right here.

I also need to tell you that our snacks today were a plate of chicken tenders with fries, which Batman promptly put in baggies to save for our late night feeding.

His plan?

Warming them up with my Dyson hair dryer.

Who knew i was married to the man who inspired MacGuyver?

Also, here are tonight's towel animals.

20230926_205231.thumb.jpg.2ace7e72fc906aa77ee17283c958fb32.jpg

Additionally, I've "hidden" maybe half our ducks. Turns out, I'm a terrible hider. One mom seriously told me to try harder. Too easy. (I'm 100% not lying here. Who knew I'd have to be into the "challenge" as well?) Forget that noise.

That's not my point. My point is Batman noticed my tags. Inquired about why the ducks were tagged,  without reading said tags. I simply said, "those are the rules. You're supposed to tag them." The end, and fine with me. I hope he never reads them. Ever. Because i think we know how that convo will go. 😆

But i can't imagine doing this ever again. Today in Orlando where normal cellular plans are working, i perused the cruise's FB page to see if there was any cruise-specific gossip. No gossip, but 978 pictures of ducks found or being hidden, or complaining their kids haven't found any ducks yet and could they coordinate hiding times so their kids could "find" them.

Chalk another one up to (repeat after me) ....It seemed like a good ...

This is why I'm not doing ducks this time around. Last time I started getting creative, but by duck 6 or 7, they were just getting tossed behind planters or wedged into railings.  My son was like "dad, thats too easy" and I was like " well son, don't you want the little kids to be able to find ducks! because if I hide them well, they may be never be found'  And he was like " ok...makes sense" And that's how I got out of actually hiding any more ducks.  We're not ducking around this time... but according to the FB group for our sailing, there should be exactly 3,497 ducks on board to find because I swear everyone else in the group is hiding like 90 ducks a piece.

In a galaxy far, far away, and many, many moons ago and most certainly NOT in stateroom 1701 on Oasis on or about the morning of September 26th, the following conversation may or may not have happened.

I mean it probably didn't happen, but if it did happen, it probably happened something like this.

Maybe.

Probably.

I admit nothing.

If we're going there, this is "based on a true story" and most certainly NOT a documentary.

For all you know, this is pure science fiction.

Because it absolutely didn't happen as stated below.

Obviously, I'm completely making this up.

Probably.

Him: Hey, you know how you pack your fat clothes for the end of the cruise?

Her: Of course, any sane person does that

Him (looking sheepish): I'm beginning to wonder if that applies to your underwear as well, by any chance?

Her: Don't be ridiculous. Of course it does.

Him: So, theoretically, you have underwear that may be too big for you right this second? And you have plenty of pairs to spare?

Her: Correct

(To be clear, HER knows EXACTLY where this conversation is going. She just needs HIM to spell it out, because that is 80% of the fun.)

Him: Are any of them black?

Her: yes

Him: Are any of them the boy shorts type?

Her: The boy shorts underwear are beige. The black ones are bikini.

Him: I'm going to need you to hand me your phone first. And then I'm going to need you to hand over your oversized black bikinis.

Ladies and gents, THAT is where the conversation ended. But the funniest 1.3 minutes of my life began.

I will spare you the details of the fashion show.

But Spoiler: i now have 6-pack abs.

I forgot to say last night that CD Elvis said only 1000 guests got off the ship at Port Canaveral. I'd love to hear the numbers for Nassau tmw.

I just had my Chai tea delivered for PDCC day.

Batman is looking at the OTW/ floating cabana pics just now.

He counted 8 people in the cabana.

He's making fun of me. You booked this for just the 2 of us?

What? You want to make friends at 8:40am and share it?

(Never ask a question you don't know the answer to)

Leticia is calling about 9:15 to let us know the status of the gangway. We'll be in #16.

It's overcast here today. Looks like we're in for some rain. Not my idea of a perfect day but we'll roll with it.

We actually got a casita for Pt Canaveral day.  I think myself and the son are going to wander off the ship for a few hours and go check out the mini golf\gator farm down the street, and leave the wife alone to relax in the casita.  I would think MAYBE more people are getting off Nassau these days to at least check out the new port- but I may also be completely wrong.

Hope the rain holds off at PDCC, at least until you get some beach time in!

I'm so late to this party, what a hoot! Life my friends...yikes. Kiddo finished year one of college in High School so she only has 3 years for that first degree, problem $44,000 a year as of today. My spreadsheets came out months ago, I'm forbidden to even think about any more sailings! Cabash can sense it.

LOVED your picture, it was beautiful. I always love when we all do this. Such an amazing family here. It's scary to post that first picture of ourselves but after that...watch out!

Quick responses to the last 7 pages off the top of my head, scary place right now! I'm trying to refrain from processed sugar since I'm not sailing forever and the only thing I'm loosing is my temper, gees! Weight still gleefully there 😞

I forgot Cabash underwear once, I told him I packed it and he didn't have to...well thank goodness he packed a few. As soon as we hit port it was off to Cariloha Store, they have bamboo underwear. We still laugh about that one!

Use the hangars the stateroom host used for the hanging towel animal to keep those curtains clipped closed, I did this on our Serenade sailing, works so well.

Finally, yes keep Batman blissfully in the dark about the blog. Cabash always wants to "help" then "preview" its exhausting.

Loving your adventure! I'm here for the tram story as well!

This made me laugh.  We just got off Allure and this describes our FB page too.  I feel like I'm missing something with the duck craze?!

You sound crazy busy, and where did the time and $44k a year go? Higher education prices are insane!

I'm just happy you're here. I thought you were mowing the grass this whole time!

Tram time:

This lady and her husband, legit vintages, barreled their way onto the benches that Leticia was using to keep our group together. There were 9 of us, plus Leticia. She had called us a tram to pick us up right from the ship to go directly to the Beach Club.

I heard the wife say something about them being at PDCC last week, and the husband was wearing some sort of Casino shirt, so these are not unseasoned cruisers. Do your sea pass cards indicate Casino status? Because i feel like he was definitely casino man. Either from his lanyard or sea pass card or both.

Our tram comes and this lady gets up and she actually tries to tell me that she was there first (she wasn't), and she and her hubby form a wall and don't want to let me and Batman stay with our group.

Leticia and another pier worker are now blocking this couple from getting on the tram. They're trying to explain that we're a group and we're going directly to the Beach Club together. This tram was booked especially for us.

This couple is having none of it, crying injustice and unfairness,  and now Derick comes over for muscle.

The only reason this couple relented was because now Derick's ordered trams have arrived and they literally beeline it to his waiting trams, with no one to stop them from getting on, and they refuse to get off. Those vintages double downed and refused to move.

So now we have a front row seat to crazy town, and we're all wondering how that show was going to end.

Coming back on the ship, i was so happy to see the other family whose tram was commandeered. I had to learn how this ended, and they were happy to tell me.

It sounded like some serious hostage negotiations occurred because that pair of vintages drew a line and they weren't crossing it. They finally agreed to get off, but, not before another tram was called for them.

I hope they lose their shirts in the Casino tonight because they already lost their manners, or who am i kidding, never had them in the first place.

So happy you are having a great day! But, I'm a Ducker!!

I love Ducking, it gives me serious JOY! TBH I already have my ducks ready to go for our 2024 Graduation sailing, I could not wait!!

It's a family thing too, we all like to look but kiddo and I hide them together. Dancing & laughing like a kid (me)

* evidence below.

Yes, busy is putting it lightly. Kiddo is in the IB program plus is working towards some scholarships. She wants to go to either a technical school or a private catholic college for a BS in nursing to start. Proud mama here she just passed her TEAS!! The costs are crushing but we expected it. We promised ourselves we didn't want her to have crippling debt. She works at Culver's restaurant to pay her car insurance & car payment. The senior year in High School includes 100 plus volunteer hours and CAS for 18 months straight, which entails Creativity, Service & Activity. To add to that an additional project and an extended essay on nuclear energy. Our calender is a disaster, we don't stop....but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Well, a sooner sailing would be cool, LOL!

I'm living for these live blogs, allows me to escape and smile with you. I just smashed the follow for @Ampurp85 as well. Thanks to you both!

I am a little confused by the tram-crashing vintages. Anyone who has sailed an Oasis class knows that trams can be reserved for star class guest. The digging of their old, weakened heels in the sand is cuckoo bananas.

Cuckoo bananas 🤣🤣

In fairness, I'm not sure if they were on Grandeur or with us on Oasis. We were at PDCC with her and are now puttering to Nassau together.

I was wondering who your genie was this whole time. You’re right though, people love her. She’s been around for a very long time.

I meant to tell you this ... she's been in flats all cruise! We had a convo about it actually! She's got us on Deck 17 and a family on Deck 8 as well as i think she said one of the UPs on 14. It's a lot of walking and she's given in to the function over style motto. I'm kidding, of course. She looks like a million bucks and more put together than I'll ever be.
