fgarvin Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 We've only done DCL cruises where decorating your door was very popular. Do folks decorate their doors on RCI cruises too? Is there a Royal Caribbean equivalent of Fish Extenders? (that's a gift exchange for y'all non-DCL cruisers reading this) Thank you. Quote
RestingBird Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 People definitely decorate their doors. Obviously nothing offensive or vulgar, and nothing damaging to the door. I have a laminated piece of paper with my RCBlog screen name, with a magnet to secure it to the door. Quote
Cindy Leslie Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 My sis-in-law made signs for our two cabins; laminated with magnetic backing! That way, we don’t get lost when going to each other’s cabins! Quote
KathyC Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 Totally! Please make sure you do not buy the gel clings - they stain the doors. RestingBird 1 Quote
SpeedNoodles Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 I tried. I didn't have them on my door for 2 hours before one of them disappeared. NJCruisers, mom2mybugs, RestingBird and 5 others 1 4 3 Quote
Hoski Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 This month I will be decorating our door for our 25th anniversary. I bought a cool sign on Etsy and I put magnets on a few little things to hang on the door. Last cruise I put dry erase boards on all our cabins. NJCruisers 1 Quote
mom2mybugs Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 Oooh...it just dawned on me that I can decorate our door for my daughters graduation trip!!, Royal didn’t have any room decorations for a graduate! Yeah!, jane Ron Rico and Cindy Leslie 2 Quote
Pima1988 Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 I am decorating my door, and my family that will be joining us will also be decorating their doors. The beauty of this, especially on a larger ship is those hallways can be long....if your door is decorated it is so much easier to find them. Ron Rico 1 Quote
Ron Rico Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 I have decorated my families doors in the past, too. Graduations, Anniversaries and other special events (see below) have been recognized. I create my signs in MS Word, print on 11x17 paper and laminate. Then I use magnetic strips to adhere to the cabin door. I think it's fun and festive! That said I am not aware of a Royal Caribbean equivalent to Fish Extenders. Below is an example of one of my "homemade" signs. This one was for my son and his wife. They now have it on their refrigerator at home. I guess they liked it, too! ThyriC, Vacation Crazy and Cindy Leslie 3 Quote
Susie Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 We decorated the door last Thanksgiving on Anthem. Just bought a dollar tree stuff. They are cheap and if they disappear then we do not feel bad. Anyway, it stayed on the whole trip without incident. Ron Rico 1 Quote
JerseyJoe Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 I was expecting to see a lot of decorated doors when we did our first cruise a couple weeks ago. I didn't see a single decorated door until the last night when I saw one decorated for someone's birthday. Quote
Vacation Crazy Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 I ordered this personalized door magnet for $9.00 on Etsy. It comes with us on every cruise. Although our last cruise it did not do its job. We were awoken one night around 3am to a guy mistaking our room for his. I thought our last name on the door would have been the first clue he had the wrong room. I'm pretty sure the drink package was involved in that episode! Anyways, I love our little magnet. It hangs on the side of our frig until it can cruise again! Hoski, WAAAYTOOO, DoomSlayer and 3 others 4 2 Quote

rtread Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 I'm very pleased with the door sign I ordered from Custom Cruise Wear. Angela was super to work with and very customer oriented. I highly recommend them for door signs and they have a lot more than signs. My wife's sign: Vacation Crazy and Cindy Leslie 2 Quote
ThyriC Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 I love decorating the door. I had one made on Etsy and it just makes the door stand out to me, in the sea of identical looking doors. I'm horrible with remembering cabin numbers, but I'm great at finding the door decoration! Ron Rico 1 Quote
AlohaLivin Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 I never did before this year, but got one for the cruise we did with my sister in Jan, I have one for the Grandeur sailing at the end at the end of this month (it’s a ship’s wheel with our surname), and then I have one ready for the ‘19 Thanksgiving cruise with all our names and a happy birthday one for hubby. I had all of them made it at Etsy. But note that the first one that I got did not attach to the NCL Haven cabin door I am now prepared with command strips! Quote
Sweety Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 We have nine cabins. Each door will be decorated to celebrate the different careers in our family. Teachers, students, veterans, retire parents, doctor, police, computer nerd, electrician are fun ways to encourage our young people about careers. We go all out. WAAAYTOOO and Ron Rico 1 1 Quote

Keeping in mind what SpeedNoodles said about her door decorations being swiped, I ordered a magnet with our wedding photo on it (Zazzle.com about $5), figuring no one would have any need for it. My husband said, "There, anyone who steals that will just have to be happy for the rest of their lives!" Which pleased me very much. Ron Rico and Pima1988 2 Quote
