Isn't it still undetermined if we will get credits/money back from RCCL at this point?

I would also be booking again too if I knew for sure I will get my $9K back.  If I'm going to lose the money, I will definitely walk away from RCCL forever.  I'm reading all the fine print right now and the cruise contract basically states that RCCL can cancel and are not obligated to give you anything back.

I did buy travel insurance so hoping I can at least get the 75% "Cancel for no Reason" if RCCL doesn't at least offer FCC.

They're giving 125% in future Cruise credit, or a refund of 100%.....

  2. Perspective is the word of the day. My cruise was a luxury. A break from life and the daily grind. It's a bummer I have to reschedule, and have to cancel my PTO request.....but ......I have an awesome family, I have my health, and....now.....I get to pick out, and plan another cruise to replace the one we just lost!  So....as upset we are at losing a vacation, and the hassle of canceling hotels and excursions and such....just ask yourself......

  3. Just want to say, I appreciate @Matt and everyone I regularly interact with on this board. It's been a roller coaster this week, and I appreciate y'all for giving me an outlet and a sense that I wasn't the only one....I still don't know what the future holds for my April sailing...but I know this too, shall pass. When it does, I look forward to more joking, more debating, and more obsessing about my vacation.

  4. Supposed to sail Apr. 04. We have adopted the wait and see philosophy.  Too many unknowns. My wife is a nurse and faces potential self-quarantine upon return, which would force our hand. With the way things are developing with reaction, its looking like EVERYTHING is being canceled.  Princess and Viking have suspended operations.....sneaking suspicion is others will follow suit.

  5. We are waiting till someone forces our hand. If my wife's employer forces her to self quarantine upon return, we will have to cancel. Shes the nurse manager and it would be cutting off her nose to spite her face to force them to enforce that. She cant manage clinic remotely, and would have a mountain of work after 3 weeks away. So far its just recommendations from above that she not go....but if this goes further, its a sad state of affairs for the family cruise.  #stillgoing #fornow #positivevibes

Steve, I think this kind of thing is developing very swiftly among the corporate bean counters.  My (and Dan...we both work for the same Firm) corporate rulemakers are suddenly putting all kinds of roadblocks up for personal and business travel.  I think we're going to see a lot of this very soon.

In your wife's case, it is pretty funny...and you are SO right.  She is probably waaay more exposed to God-only-knows-what at work than she would be on a cruise.  Kinda silly, really.

We are supposed to cruise March 30, we have the same situation.  3 of our group are being told they will have to self quarantine if they go.  Sadly we are being forced to cancel and take FCC.  This was going to be a first cruise for most of our group.  ?

Just got the call from my wife (nurse) that her doctors are "Freaking out" about her going on a cruise. I dont like where this is headed. Never mind that shes exponentially more likely to come in contact with ANY contagious illness AT WORK than on a cruise.

Thank you to all of you for your kind words.  It seems in the TA world every year or two there is something that comes around such as this that shows people why they might not want to book direct - - the hold on the phone line or busy signal!  HAHA    While we are busy, it is you the client that we do this for because we love it.  Because many of us at MEI have been doing this for so long, we have lots of experience at holding on the phone, placing holds for new bookings online, chatting with another agent in the agency to either vent (so we don't toss the computer or phone out the window) , and we can order a pizza for dinner because we assume we will be on the phone til after dinner!  ???

Well, the work goes a long way in making some feel better about some frustrating times. In my former life, I was an Ops Mgr for a rental car company. One of the biggest training topics was the frustration of TRAVEL, and how a helpful person can go a LONG way in helping a frustrated person feel like this moment, at least, someone is trying to help and youre not fighting the entire world. Its how loyalty is created. Kudos to you and your team (especially Kelley) Annette.

We are booked on Rhapsody April 4th.   We are going to ride this out until maybe a week ahead of time then we have to decide.   I think the entire situation is blown all out of proportion by the fear mongering media.   We are not concerned with getting sick but am concerned about some idiot getting a simple runny nose, running to the ships medical, and somehow getting the entire ship quarantined for 2 weeks.   That would be kind of detrimental to both our jobs.    I really feel bad for the cruise industry right now.   If all else fails we are already booked to fly to Florida for the cruise.....we can adjust our airfare and still hang out in Florida for a few days.

Theyre going to have to cancel on us. My parents are considering canceling/rescheduling.....but still not definite. Theyre going to wait and see, as the 48 hour policy is a nice security blanket. As for us, if they cancel on us, we already paid for a hotel and our kids are out of school for the week....we too figure we will do SOMETHING if we cant cruise! But, I suspect the hysteria will die off some by then (even though the actual virus and spreading wont).
