Grandeur and Rhapsody For Sale?

Recommended Posts

It will be sad to see Grandeur go, hopefully to another operator. However, given her vintage and the current asking price, I would say it is more likely she will find herself meeting the inevitable fate of all cruise ships from the moment they are laid down. That is, she will be sold for recycling.

Our plan is to sail her until the rust molecules let go of each other!  Lady "G" lives on.  (for a while anyway 🥲)

The same here. She really is a lovely ship with an elegance unlike any other we have sailed on. Granted, we have only had one cruise on her so far, but she really did connect with us. We have one more coming up in July and are looking at another in December.

We have her booked June 2025. I'm looking forward to Lady G. I hope she is still around a year from now.

Are you staying in a suite? I loved the look of "Lady G", but the casino, lack of entertainment, and smell made her a one and done for me.

Yes, and I am a bit concerned because the aft usually has elevated odors but I'm on deck 8 in the 2 bedroom with that very large balcony. My desire is to experience an "old school" sailing experience. I figured I could deal with it for the 7 nights, but I really appreciate the heads up @Ampurp85.

I was on deck 8 and the aft hallway and some of the other decks seemed to get a sewage smell after a few days in. I think this is a common problem with the older classes of ships because of the type of drainage system they have. But the actual ship itself was classically beautiful, I didn't mind the Centrum because I could stand on my deck and hear the music and see some of the activities. For others they might find it loud and annoying because sometimes the separate acts bleed into each other. Hopefully a 7n has better entertainment options than a 5N because the shows were few and dated. Especially if you have sailed oasis class. The one thing I regret, remedied because of the Key West stop, was not bringing snacks. The food options are limited. After 9 you can go to the solarium for hot dogs and pizza, that and room service are your only options.

Our first cruise in 2017 was on Empress.  To date it was my favorite cruise.  I shed a tear when they took her out of the fleet.  Had I read the reviews prior, we wouldn't have gone because they were not good.

The guests were a blast, the staff was amazing and the cruise director, Elvis and the activities director, Flavio, were the best I've ever had.  I'm not sure what happened to Elvis but it's my understanding Flavio moved on to a larger ship.
