CrusoeFam
How much cash should we take on a cruise? 4 day. We prepaid tips and gratuity but I feel like I should also bring cash for a little extra here and there. Where else would we need cash on the ship besides the casino? Nassau? Cococay? Anywhere else on the ship? Sorry-1st time cruiser here!
Matt
I think you'll need cash for: Tipping parking bus person (for helping with your luggage) at airport Tipping porters at terminal at beginning of cruise Tipping porters at terminal at end of cruise Cash for shore excursions (tips, food, souvenirs) Some people will want cash to tip bartenders onboard. And of course, if you plan to gamble in the casino you will need cash. Coachkev24, PPPJJ-GCVAB, cruisellama and 2 others

Not if you just play the machines though right? That can go right to your on board account

But you're right that you could charge it to the slot machine and not get hit with a fee.

Bring cash, barter for better price in markets. Cococay? - I was the straw market on cococay once before it became perfect day.....haven't been back since, don't even know if they still have it....but again....if you want chachkees (?spell?) you will need cash if its still there. Tips for room stewards you will need cash WAAAYTOOO

Insert your Seapass card in any slot machine, set up an account to draw from your on-file credit card, load the machine up with however much you want, play a minimum bet and then cash out the rest. I regularly grab an extra $20 to $30 that way as-needed and then we don't have to carry more than a couple hundred bucks cash with us at the start of the vacation. Andy & Sheryl Unwin
We always carry at least $100 per day in cash. Out of that, $100 is in small denomination bills, $5 and $1, specifically for tipping. MikeK, Pooch and WAAAYTOOO
Riley
One last suggestion is you don't have to carry small bills - Guest Services will break a $20 down into small bills for you. stevendom57
Pattycruise
I bring singles for tips for bartenders/ as well as waitstaff in the casino. I’m not on a beverage package. I’m Diamond plus and Casino prime(free drinks in the casino). I’ve no idea how these bartenders get any money out of the free drinkers since the berate packages include gratuities. CrimsonCruiser
Matt pretty much hit the nail on the head with a good list of what you'll need cash for. I tend to budget about 100 per port (usually 300 - 400 total) and I dip into that for additional tips at the end. I usually grab 10-20 in singles for pre and post tipping shuttle from home to the airport shuttle from the airport to the hotel shuttle from hotel to port port luggage team shuttle from port to airport shuttle from airport to home teddy and cruisellama
fa-li
I tip in cash, 1s and 5s throughout the cruise for drinks, as well as 20s to put together bigger tips for cabin steward, waitstaff, and anyone else at the end of cruise who I appreciate. Precovid, envelopes were provided on the last night. Someone can say if this is still a thing. I also tip cabin steward upon arrival, saying thanks for having room so perfect. I’ve found this goes a long way throughout the rest of the cruise. If you do any shore excursions, it’s nice to tip in cash, guides and drivers. Basically I bring piles of cash lol. We were on Oasis 12/19-12/26 and the only day there wasn't a line at Guest Services was day three. I got $100 out of the ATM onboard and it gave it in $50 bills, so that was a little inconvenient.
