We sailed with Glacier Winds in ISP, and I highly recommend them. As a matter of fact, we will be booking with them again next time. Small boat trip, very personable captain. We had a great time.

And before Covid cancelled our AK trip in 2020, we had Jayleen scheduled in Juneau. Had reserched, and she had excellent reviews. All funds were promptly refunded when we had to cancel. Here is her site:
We would book with her again after our experience with service.
@barbeyg I'm so thankful you directed me to https://jayleensalaska.com,
Anyone looking for an excellent excursions from Juneau please do not hesitate to contact Jayleen!
If anyone has any questions I'd be more then happy to answer them if I can.
We had an amazing time!

They were not on the menu at Chops on Ovation, just cruised on her last week.
-
Just got back from our Ovation of the Seas 8-27-21 to 09-03-21 sailing to Alaska.
We bid for a 1-BR GS booked a Jr Suite.
From multiply sources was told at 40% capacity
I did bid 5% more than min
I got the email at 5:06pm the day we boarded the ship, we boarded at 12 noon, we did not win.
Little slow on the emails but I was totally happy with the room I booked and so not a big deal.

Gators in the pool
I’ll take snowstorms and subzero temperatures over that, thank you very much.
I was born and raised in Florida until I went to college here in NC.
We would swim in the ponds with gators, crazy because I wouldn't let my daughter do it nowadays. Back in the 70's that's just what we did.
@melmar02it is beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It was great to have something to look forward to in the Live Blog!

We took our own gear and used it every chance we could.
I third what @AshleyDilloand @cdixon22 said, packing is a bit of a hassle but worth it for us.
We tried the newer full face snorkel gear, worked but I prefer the tried and true mask/snorkel set.

This older lady who had a walker with a basket and in the basket was fur-real cat and a huge horn.
You could hear her all over the ship, she would honk that horn if she felt you were in her way.
My daughter and I got on an elevator, as my husband was about to step on and there she was.
She honked that horn at him and he jumped about a foot off the ground.
We saw/heard her at customs on disembarkment day wearing 20 different crew badges (DD counted them)

Update:
Just talked to RC via Instant Message, they are very fast at a response. Yami stated you can get multiple discounts but since the form is not working they are requesting my poor TA to call. I of course cannot do it, the only draw back to having a TA is having them do all the work, I know it's their job but I'd like to take off some of the more tedious things like calling RC.
-
@KaydenDeenhave you tried searching on Youtube, it's been my go to on getting additional information?
-
Question:
I cruise August 27th 2021 so way past final payment. A couple of weeks ago my TA submitted a cruise adjustment, I ended up with $346 OBC. Now during this WOW sale it's dropped another $346 but RC will not allow my TA to submit a cruise adjustment? Can you only get one adjustment?
Anyone experience this?
I emailed RC asking this question.
(Another shut out to my TA Kelley checking after hours, she's a gem!!)

@MicDay my husband actually mentioned we would take a Disney cruise once she is vaccinated so sounds like a WIN.
@Marlenathat was our very first cruise. It was hands down one of our favorites but the price is a shocker. We have sailed 5 different lines and felt Royal gives us what we were looking for.
-
@MarlenaI totally understand missing out. My daughter would be very unhappy if we were going to Europe but this is a trip to Alaska so she's kinda ok with it. Plus she's going with us in May 2022.
I copy @luvstodans, thank you so much for your efforts as healthcare workers!!!
Maybe do this trip without her but plan another with her so she has something so look forward to if you are able to?
-
I'm on the 27th sailing and it's posted everywhere.
I have an awesome TA Kelley thru MEI who has updated me but so has Royal.
Even having a TA Royal has sent me updated emails abut the changes, they are just not as fast as Kelley.
No excuse.

Any tips to get over my guilt? Lol. I've never been away for more then 1 night and she is my only child and usually we bring her EVERYWHERE! She had been to Europe twice before she was 3!
But I admit an adults only vacation sounds appealing...and definitely the drink package will get good use!
I can relate
We have an only child 22 year old daughter who has always gone with us.
We are finally going on a vacation without her, did I mention she's 22.
Both sets of grandparents have pasted and I regret never sending her to my mom (We live in NC she lived in FL)
My in laws would only watch her if it was work related so if you have parents who want to spend time with her please try it.
Will you talk about her, will you miss her, sure but it's important to have couple time too.
In the end you and your husband just need to do with what you're comfortable with.

My pleasure. We are currently in the process of booking right now ourselves. I smaller boat whale-watching excursions. Such a different experience from the bigger boats. And nothing quite like the sound of a humpback blowing as he/she surfaces, or the rush from seeing a breach. Hope you have a fantastic trip!
@barbeygthank you! The one you recommended was what I was looking for, it sounds perfect! I've booked it, thank you!!!
For my fellow cruisers they had 4 openings left if anyone interested!!

@MicDay I’m glad you’re here! The more information I have on Alaska the better! It just makes me MORE excited for this trip
Thank you!!
You guys are going right after us.
We go 08/27-09/03, this is our first time in Alaska too.
I'm so excited too!!

@SpeedNoodlesis there a way to tell who the tour operator is thru Royal? Did you find out once you met them?
Thank you!!!
-
@SpeedNoodles what company did you use in Juneau if you don't mind sharing.
@KaydenDeensorry I keep highjacking your thread!
-
@AshleyDillothank you but I just reread what you and KaydenDeen are talking about my cruise does not go to ICP but Juneau. But I will keep this in mind when we go back
Thank you!

Such great advice. I am going to take your suggestion and will take a private excursion on a smaller boat in ICP. Found a small company with a smaller boat for a reasonable price and great reviews. #excited
@KaydenDeenDo you mind sharing what company you found with a small boat? The two I've found outside of RC only have large boats? Thanks!!!

Juneau whale excursion in this thread:
(Note the pictures of a bigger boat packed with people that came by)
ISP whale excursion in this thread on a bigger boat (my first Alaska cruise, rookie mistake)
@twangsterI booked my whale watching with max 48 people, is that too many. RC has one for $100 more pp with 20 people max, would half the size be worth the extra $200. Whale watching is one of my top things I want to see/do while in Alaska.

Don't let my wife hear this. She'll only ever want to go to Coco Cay and nowhere else. Well, except Bermuda of course...
@JLMoranme too!!! I LOVE LOVE a good lazy river. Disney has some of the best lazy rivers at their waterparks. Do not try the one at Discovery Cove, it's a nightmare.
I might have to book a cruise going to Coco Cay when the lazy river is done
