Cactus527 Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 I am always leery of websites that are not directly royalcaribbean.com. This one says royalcaribbean.cashstar.com, so I am going to be doing a little bit more research to find out whether this is a legitimate source for gift cards before considering a purchase. EDIT - It appears to be a legitimate company that represents a number of big name retailers in selling gift cards. However, many many customers are not satisfied with their purchases through Cashstar for a variety of alarming reasons. Since there are quite a few other retailers out there that sell gift cards, I would probably go with a different retailer versus this one to have peace of mind that I'm actually getting what I want to get. Ryan79 Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 @Cactus527 The link is legit. You can get there quite easily directly through the Royal website and that also has the “cashstar” in the url. Cash Star is the vendor who does their electronic gift cards. The photo is the url I got to using only RC’s website for navigation for gift cards. Thanks @nate91! You just got me a free $400! Update: Bought a $2000 card for $1600. And just applied the $2000 card to my outstanding balance. Worked flawlessly. RCIfan1912, Peter D and Cactus527 2 1 Quote
Doug_Texas Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 Wowza, thanks! There is even place where paying remaining balance has a “Gift Card” option I’ve never noticed. Cactus527 and RCIfan1912 2 Quote
smokeybandit Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 Has anyone used this on board before? I know it says it can be used as OBC, but wanted first hand experience with redeeming them. Quote
dangjr213 Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 Discount is now lowered to 10% EDIT: nevermind, using the link above still shows 20%. Navigating directly to the site shows 10% Quote

Rackham Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 It's legit. If you're receiving the C&A emails you should be receiving a personalized link. There were no problems redeeming on a Celebrity booking just now. Edit: It's worth knowing that these are low security gift cards. If someone knows your email address then they can access your cards. I wouldn't buy anymore than what I can turn and use today (or won't cry over if lost). Peter D 1 Quote
bluer101 Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 Purchased thru crown and anchor email. Tried to apply it online thru manage my cruise. It shows the balance but gives a decline error. Now on hold with Royal and they are trying to figure it out. RCIfan1912 1 Quote

judgen Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 Wouldn't you know I just paid off an upcoming March Cruise yesterday and I had a couple more days but I didn't want to forget. Could have saved a couple hundred dollars. But I do have another cruise coming up in September where I can save $400 so I guess I will get $2,000 worth. Got the email this morning. Quote

Ryan79 Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 @bluer101 You should be OK. I even bought a second gift card from that link and both have already been applied on future crises and even got the receipt from Royal showing the payments being applied. Weird you have to wait 24 hours, but I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s legit. Quote

AshleyDillo Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 Those who have purchased, how is the purchase being coded on your credit card statement? Does it show as a travel purchase or an online merchandise/retailer purchase? Gotta make the most of my credit card points, so these details matter I mean 20% savings is more than a 5% travel kickback, but if i can double dip anyways, why the heck not? This was because I accidentally put in the wrong month on the expiration and it kicked it as decline from there on. So don’t type in anything wrong when redeeming. Ummm.... honestly, I don't remember. I feel like we waited until day 2 when GS wasn't crowded and I probably had a balance by then but I don't think it matters. It just showed up as a cash payment of $50 or something in the line item when I checked the app as soon as GS processed it. smokeybandit 1 Quote

Mturk Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 According to the link, it says that it applies to purchases of $350 and more. My question is, if I wanted to give Christmas presents to my family for our February cruise, can i purchase say $100 gift cards for 5 people and still get the 20% or will they count it as 5 separate $100 transactions and therefore not eligible for the 20% discount? I read it as a single gift card value has to be 350 or more. But you can confirm just by adding five $100s to your cart and see what it says Quote

Peter D Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 I wonder if they are refundable if you apply them to a cruise and have to cancel your cruise before Final Payment date. The discount might be troublesome in this case. No mention of it in FAQs. Edit after fact. I did go ahead and buy one and apply to future cruise. Travel Agent told me to keep the gift card and if cancellation were to occur, the value would be placed back onto the same gift card. Pattycruise 1 Quote
