Gonna go "horizontal". Seems most boarding go straight for the top decks "vertical" . I prefer to go maybe a deck up to the promenade then walk its length taking the stairs or elevator at the far end  to the top decks second... Once up top do the windjammer then cut the kids loose to explore....

Immediately after boarding I will take a couple of deep breaths of that sacred cruise ship air to purge my lungs and system of two years of no cruise toxicity build up. Then, definitely, something big and tall maybe a hurricane before I go insane! ?

Dragon coaster is a lot of fun. If you think you’ll ride it at least twice, get an all-day pass and make that one of the first places to go to in the morning. I was able to ride it 4 times in an hour, 90 minutes tops.
Also, IIRC one ticket allows for two riders (maybe only when one is a child under a certain age?), with one sitting right in front of the other.
It gets very popular in the afternoon, so much so that my wife and older daughter could only get on it once with an hour-long wait time.
As far as the zip line, my wife and both daughters did it and loved it. There are a bajillion CYA notices about not going if you have a bad back or neck, and my wife (who’s had some back issues) said it was fine. Everyone has to be a minimum height, but I don't recall if there’s a minimum age.

We did the zip-line there in 2009 and were disappointed. It did not seem worth the money ($90?) for only one 30-ish second run.

I enjoyed the coaster.  I snagged the all day pass on a cruise planner sale and rode it over and over again.
The rider restrictions can be found at: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/shoreExcursions/product/detail/view.do?ProductCode=ZL37&DestinationCode=
There's an age requirement to ride alone, but the bonus is you can take someone with you for free so if you have younger kids they wouldn't need to buy a ticket/pass to ride.
It's an alpine style coaster that you operate with hand brakes.  It's great with unlimited rides because you don't really go into it knowing what to expect, so if you have several chances to ride you know what's coming up and you can snag some awesome photos for the ride and also be a little more daring and not use the brake as much to get maximum momentum.

Frozen margs, frozen daiquiri, lava flow, frozen pina colada. All of it is available at 90% of the bars. They need a blender and that is it.

    Welcome to the boards!
First and foremost, ocean conditions will greatly impact how much you feel anything. No one can predict the weather for your sailing, and more often than not, the ocean is pretty calm.
Having stayed in a room all the way in the front, I found the sensation of movement was more noticeable than in other areas, but I think we all perceive motion a little differently from each other.
As someone with kids, it is really hard to pass up a large room with ample space on a cruise ship.

@PPPJJ-GCVAB, you're correct. I purchased the DBP for our OCT 2021 sailing (old planner) just now and for our FEB 2022 sailing (new planner) a couple of weeks ago. In both cases, the 18% gratuity is not added until it's in your cart. There is no change to the purchase of beverage packages.
One major change (and @twangster pointed this out in his comparison review)...
... involves specialty dining reservations and dining plans. Royal is now adding gratuity to specialty dining reservations in the new planner. I booked the same restaurant (not a dining plan) for both sailings and the old planner does not tack on gratuity, but the new planner adds a gratuity at checkout.
We tip anyway, but now you'll have to keep that in mind when you're onboard. Maybe the check will reflect that the gratuity was prepaid and/or have a line to allow for "additional gratuity".

Or the unvaxed can stay home and they can wait until the coast is clear.  That is also simple.

April 2022 DBP = $58 best price so far. Last cruise it was $48 but that was pre Covid pricing. We don't have any private island days, so that is kind of steep. Royal I'm challenging you bring back the intern!

Kinda have the feeling that we aren't going to be seeing any major sales/deals for quite some time (I hope I'm wrong).  They know we are itching to sail, and we know that they have been hemorrhaging cash for over a year now.  I don't think they'll be crazy about raising prices but I don't see them doing many favors either.

I guess I'm old school on this subject, but I prefer to eliminate the doubt and take the extra half second to just spell it out. When you ask for advice on your AOTS sailing I think WTF and then SMDH and move on.

Fortunately for us, hubby and I have been fully vaccinated since February, so we're okay with having some non-vaccinated folks onboard. We can also live with wearing masks and social distancing - we just did that (in most places) for a week in Las Vegas. Like everyone else, we JUST WANNA cruise, lol! ?

This is probably a good sign: Yesterday afternoon, Carnival sent hubby an email offering a comped inside room for either the Caribbean or Alaska for dates in July or August. We hurriedly booked 7 nights on the Vista out of Galveston, paying just the taxes/port fees. I wrote "hurriedly" because the website must have been inundated with other people doing the same thing, it was going in and out - it wasn't long afterwards that he received the "OH SNAP, no more cruises available" message when he tried to do a mock booking a few minutes later.
Our new cruise begins on July 17.  The earliest date I saw for Galveston was for July 15 on the Breeze.
Anyway, just the fact that Carnival sent out some last-minute offers for FL and Galveston sailings indicates (to me) that they are serious about sailing this coming July and August.
