teddy reacted to Xaa in GTY Cabin passenger's cruise cancelled day of sailing
You'll be fine @daha699.  None of us know, but it's really doubtful this was a traditional overbook situation based on greed.  Those situations are historically addressed weeks in advance with letters and volunteers.  This situation smacks of something of an urgent nature that came up the day of requiring the reconsideration of a group of cabins.
I'm all for picking your room for a ton of reasons, but extrapolating the one instance of day of cancellations to mean GTY is somehow more dangerous or risky than it has ever been is probably overkill.

Its truly sad and unfortunate but we have got to stop blaming others for our own ignorance.

This seems to be everywhere. The lack of kind etiquette flows equally on Royal....and on land for that matter. Gone are the times of cordial niceties. Holding a door for the person entering behind you is now an exception where I felt it used to be a rule. I think it's @teddy if I'm wrong I apologize who opines our behaviors with each other are changing and not for the better.
I'm so happy for your honest review, it will keep my expectations in check when I finally sail Celebrity in the not so near future.

You wouldn’t like it at my house.  In the winter, 62 at night, 68-70 during the day.  In the summer, anything above 75 is too hot for me.

Here comes that old man with too much time on his hands dragging that ol' soapbox into the public square again.....

Ya' knows... there are established firm policies against climbing on railings or the throwing of things overboard; but now <scratching head> there is an exception and that is unless you are on this thrill ride? The Cloe Wiegard accident, the other kids that have fallen onto the floor of the Centrum, the idiot diving into the water in Nassau; the extending of anything over a cruise ship railing is a No. An absolute, without exception No. It includes things that you are trying to dry on your balcony. It includes fishing. It includes frustrated people throwing their balcony furniture overboard. The penalty for violating this policy on ANY cruise line is overwhelmingly being dismissed from continuing the sailing and let off at the next port. But Crowns Edge is somehow different? Hard to believe...
And another thing, and perhaps more important. The testing of a 44lbs bag of sand in the manufactures warehouse in Bulgaria might yield the results you'd like to see. The mocked up rendition in Miami might reassure decision makers they are making the right choices. Or, at least tell them how far stepping stones should be from one another. But I'm a guy who has been on dozens of cruise ships. And I've been to Labadee a bunch of times too. From my experience on cruise ships I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is always windy as hell on the top deck when underway. More often than not, it is uncomfortably windy. So ya' mean to tell me you are going to allow this thrill ride to happen while at sea? Nobody has thought what happens (for a good example ) when a tall, lanky teenager with no real mass loses all momentum headed into a stiff headwind? Not one of you have been to Labadee to see that it is very commonplace for zipliners to get stuck and not make it to the end? Especially after sand and salt spray has caused corrosion on the cables overtime and slowed the speed of the ride all while increasing friction?
Finally, I don't know nutt'in about rollercoasters or theme park rides. Especially how they are designed or engineered. But I tell ya' once you get on one of them, that ride is going to bring all its' occupants back to where it originated whether they like it or not. If someone faints, has a medical condition, panics, or even has misgivings....they are forced to return to where the ride originates. This is not the case on the Crown's Edge. So yeah I'm tellin' all ya' alls this poorly designed and not well thought out.
Does this thing make money and pay for itself? Yeah. Is it a unique marketing plus? Affirmative. Is it another example that your cruise fare is just a price for admission and everything onboard is going to cost more money? Does it add to cruisers becoming more competitive with one another and lead to bad behavior? Yes and Yes!

I appreciate anyone who has stuck around this far to listen to me. I apologize distracting from the thought that the discussion is about sign up is available or it's price. I think for $90 you'll be able to do it as many times as you want on your sailing; it's not a one and done thing. <mumbles> Thanks again. <more growling>

<the scrapping sound of the ol' soapbox on concrete fades as the old man slowly walks away>

Lost me at "left my dog at home alone".  Dogs are not cats.  They can't be left alone with someone stopping by daily.  Maybe that works for a cat, not a dog, not for any length of cruise.
"Smoking area on deck 5 and 9"
What ship has a smoking area on deck 9?
    "Advanced internet"
What is Advanced internet?  There is only one package.
But seriously, I can't get over leaving a dog at home alone.

I guess I can be considered a frequent cruiser. I’m also a retiree and have the time to manage my own reservations.
I don’t mind checking my bookings every day to see if there have been any price drops. Same with any Cruise Planner purchases. I’m pretty well versed dealing with RC agents when I call. For example, I know when to politely end a call and call another agent when I feel I’m not getting the right answer. They really try but sometimes they are mistaken, or misunderstanding, or not completely informed. I know to call resolutions if I have to. I know my casino cruises can only be serviced by the casino agents so I call them directly. I have an excellent source of Royal-related information at my fingertips……….here!
I usually book en mass onboard so I only pay $100 deposit and get the OBC (depends on cruise length…but typical seven night is $100). It’s helpful to me that NextCruise can check cabin availability on b2bs, which is my preferred cruising itinerary. Easier than me going back and forth trying to lock in the same cabin on each leg.
I don’t know if I lose anything (reduced deposit and/or OBC) if I transfer a NextCruise to a TA. Honestly, I’ve been considering checking out a TA to see if it’s worth it to me. The one thing I’m wary of is I would no longer ‘own’ the reservation and would depend on the TA for any and all adjustments, changes or re-pricing…many of which come and go quickly. Although the trade-off would be an expert that can handle any problem that arises.
So far, I guess I’ve been pretty lucky. No major issues that I couldn’t handle quickly and satisfactorily. But, thanks to all your comments…ya got me wonderin’!🤔

I did magnets once and they were stolen. I would never think to take something that didn't belong to me and personally I side eye any grown adult, teenager and child over 10 that does.
Tiny humans under 5 can honestly be confused by them when so much is available for them to enjoy. But a grandma 🤬🤯😱 such a bad example to her grandchildren.

Thankfully I have not been a victim of magnet stealing but would be very upset if I were.  The magnets I bring along are mostly hand made by my grandchildren who absolutely love spending a day with me to design and create their masterpieces!
Very sad that anyone would stoop that low for whatever reason they see fit!

Boston to Cape Cod and back is a traffic nightmare, so plan accordingly.

Our middle son and his family live on the Cape, and we’ve never been able to find a time to go visit when the traffic isn’t awful.  Definitely go if you want to, just be aware that you may come to a complete stop on I-93.

There are a lot of hotels in the Seaport area of Boston.  Any of the chain ones will have no surprises.

You definitely want to stay in Boston itself, not near the airport…..the airport is across the harbor from the city.

Is your point that there are worse things than thieves @Thom Cruise?  I'll concede that, but the post you quoted didn't present itself as an exhaustive list of bad actors nor did it suggest that the thief was the worst.
Looks to simply be adressing the topic of the thread
