To my opinion this is an issue created by RCL.

I regular survey people tend to give 8 and 9 as good score an 10 for exceptional. If RCL consider a  9 or 8 to be a problematic score there should explain it in the beginning of the survey or in the CC otherwise they almost force the crew members to explain it ...

This is what I hate...an 8 or 9 is excellent to me. A 10 means you anticipated my needs and I rarely/never had to ask for a thing. Not that a 10 isn't possible but most really amazing people work at an 8 or a 9 to me but it seems like I should give a 10 because someone might be reprimanded for not reading my thoughts for exactly what I want. Hell, I don't know exactly what I want.

It's subjective, clearly, and any one of you can tell me I'm 100% wrong and this is why...and you're not wrong either.

I  ~almost~ feel like that question is test question because I/we have been reminded each time, only in the MDR, that their service ratings are very important to them and that a 10 is their goal, etc. The script was almost exactly the same each time, so it seems like they must know the high rating is being suggested/requested?

I've thought the exact same thing....it seems scripted.

There is little I hate more than being asked to give favorable reviews. I get why they ask but there needs to be a better way to review without feeling like someone's job depends on it.

(They are not victims of a having a very low wage.)

I could not disagree with you any more than I currently do. This is not a great wage for the work they provide. I feel like you're going out of your way to justify why you don't need to tip because you tip with your time. You do what you need to do with your $$ but 32k is not a livable wage for the hours they put in.

We’ve done this for our last 3 cruises since my wife’s gluten free and can’t drink many of the drinks, it’s a fairly easy process and if there is something she wants we just pay for it accordingly.

What drinks have gluten? I'm gluten free and can't figure out which ones would have wheat besides beer?

  5. It’s called hurricane season for a reason. As stated above the ships usually know their way around it. Some years we get a lot some years we don’t get very much. You really can’t know until the week ahead and even that means nothing. Last year we left a small island for the island we live on because there was supposed to be an awful hurricane. We got home, some rain and wind. No big deal though we were evacuated from the first island. Other years we’ve had little warning and had huge hurricanes which wiped out our power. You really never know.

Oh we know exactly how you feel! Love sailing out of Cape Liberty as we too are on Long Island (located not too far from MacArthur Airport in Holbrook).

October was the first time we sailed on Oasis (Cape Liberty) and we both absolutely loved it!

    Have an amazing time! 😎

I’m on Fire Island right now on a family trip and it’s great but can’t wait to be relaxing on crystal clear water. I’ll be thrilled to not have to cook and clean for a week.

  7. Went to both...Cinque Terre has a ton to do in the 5 little towns. There are beaches, shopping, hiking, a TON of amazing restaurants. One of my favorite memories is drinking a spritz  under a restaurant umbrella while it quickly showered and trying the local food.

I don't want to knock Pisa but there isn't a lot going on once you see the tower...it's definitely worth going at some point to see and to people watch while they try and take creative pics featuring the tower.

  8. Because, for some people, we need our brains to shut off and just relax -  these islands are perfect for that. There's a time for history/enrichment tours and a time for beach relaxation. I don't take Caribbean cruises for enrichment, I take for relaxation. I don't go to another continent for relaxation, I go for cultural and/or historic enrichment.

Whatever works for you is what's best for you.
