His press secretary? Hmmmm. The Sun Sentinal is really a pretty good local pape but they have been known to assign statements to various sources without vetting them. My point remains. Desantis is not going to tell cruise lines they can't sail from FL ports if they require passengers and crew to be vaccinated.

Agree. I live in Florida and no way DeSantis will let a $7 billion dollar industry sail away. No way.

  2. Just being on a ship sometimes is enough. Personally I’m a morning person and need light lol.

In college I did an interior that fit 5 girls, 2 years in a row. At $137, that left plenty of beer money!

Our (hubby and me) first Royal cruise was on Song of America (corporate cruise) and we had an ocean view. We were in our 20’s and after an interior, this was HIGH DOLLAH!

Now we are regulars with plain old balconies because we do love sitting watching the water and mimosas in the morning.

We have our first Aft Junior Suite next may in Alaska only because our 22 year old is graduating college and she wants to come.

Bottom line, pick what you most enjoy. Life is short. 5 years ago I was given a 15% of making it to 2021. I’m here and have my bucket list cruises booked! Of course we eat a lot of chicken at home! ?

  3. I check a few times a week and the norm seems to be a sale one week, the next week no sale. The following week, another sale.

Usually the sales start on Wednesdays.

Always check around major holidays. Black Friday is historically the best prices.

My game plan: buy what I absolutely know we will buy as early as possible then watch the price. When it goes down, cancel and re-purchase. Best prices are always early. The more time that goes by, the prices go up.

One of the things I found interesting when I was in Florida last week was the number of people wearing masks, not because they had to, but because it was what they chose to do.  When I was in a Winn-Dixie, I'd say it was about 50/50 mask vs no-mask.  I think government, in general, doesn't give the general population enough credit to make the right decisions that are right for them.

Absolutely! We’ve gotten this reputation as being a bunch of idiots. Masks are worn everywhere and I’m in conservative north Florida.

I believe so, so we could see increased confrontation over masks at stores and bars.  "The governor says I don't have to..."

I’m going to the eye doctor today in north Florida and they require a mask. I’m going to Publix afterwards and I’ll see if masks are still required.

My daughter is getting married in central Florida in 3 weeks. As far as we know, masks are still required in the chapel but not at the reception venue.

I understand the governors objection to a gov't creating vaccination passport, but is he considering the vaccine cards a travel passport?   They're just a shot record like those of the past.  Not seeing why  showing proof of vaccination that big a deal?  Don't schools require shot records for student enrollment?  Seems like the mandatory PCR testing for travel is just as intrusive from the health privacy issue.

His issue is you should not have to prove you’re vaccinated to go to a baseball game or walk into a grocery store. He’s talking about participating in everyday life should not require proof you’ve been vaccinated.

Down here, the mask ordinance has been mostly county-enforced.  As in, each county has its own rules.

Right now, it's still in place where I live (and surrounding counties).  There was talk of it being removed "soon", but TBD.

I hope so very soon. My daughter is getting married at Rollins chapel end of May and right now we have to wear masks coming down the aisle. ?

So many... yet so important. I am happy to hear about how frequently the meetings are now occurring between the CDC and cruise lines, it was about time. I think with continued engagement and development of solid plans and adhering to certain aspects of the CSO, there is a path forward, which is what the FL governor wants. He is in some sort of contradiction though when he wants cruises to return but doesn't want cruise lines to require vaccines. It doesn't work that way, Ron.

The EO that DeSantis signed says businesses cannot ASK if you’ve been vaccinated. It says nothing about requiring/not requiring vaccine. It’s simply an order to protect your private health information. Regardless it is at odds with what he wants though.

  9. So here’s my experience: had a May 2020 Symphony. Took the 125% on board credit which came to $1835. We had purchased CocoCay beach club, DBP and UDP. That was it.

Applied it to an October 2020 Symphony and was able to purchase all with a nice chunk left over. Cancelled so.....

Applied to May 2021 Symphony and was able to add 2 excursions with about $300 left over. Cancelled so....

Applied to October 2021 Symphony and I’m finding that extra 25% is being eaten up quickly.

Bottom line: prices are up. If you have a 125% OBC apply it sooner rather than later because it appears your dollar is not going as far as it used too. If you’re wavering on purchasing, I’d sure as heck get the stuff you know you want.

When our Odyssey for this October out of Rome was cancelled, I cancelled all my CP stuff before they announced and all $2,138.66 was on my next month’s cc statement as a credit. Refunds are coming much faster.
