HtownHolly
We'll be taking a southern Caribbean cruise and getting an ocean view room. It'd be nice to take in the islands from our room before starting the day (and when sailing away). In past cruises elsewhere I seem to remember the docks were almost always on the starboard side. Anyone know if there's a list of which ports dock on which side of the ship?
arebee
I guess the response is it varies, but I prefer the port side.
sandfact
If you go on youtube and type in the ship you are going on you might be able to see the ship docked in the ports you are going to and that will give you a idea of which side people are getting off. mworkman
I would think it's unknown until you get into the ports due to other ships being there. Just a matter of who's in the port first and the size of the ships in port will also play a factor. Dennis M and WHStoneman
HtownHolly
Hm. I guess I didn't realize that docks take people on both sides! Might not matter then Related, is there a list of tender ports? I've found I get queasy on those kind of easily, but not on board the big ships. twangster
Port or Starboard? Yes. There is no set side that always is against the pier. It varies. From an Ocean View cabin you might find it better to visit the highest deck to take a picture of each island. Better views higher up. Grand Cayman tenders (Western Caribbean). CocoCay tenders (Bahamas, pier is nearing completion by EOY 2018).

Yeah I remember getting a little green in the gills at Grand Cayman... and then of course my shore excursion was a ride on a pirate ship, lol. Looks like that won't be an issue this time around
packercruising
Where the ship docks varies. Do your due diligence and go with your gut.

If you're leaving from San Juan and you plan to be in your room as your cruise begins, you will want to be on the starboard side. The views of El Morrow as you leave the harbor are awesome. Now I am confused because we never tendered in Belize before. They have a huge pier. In fact the best bar is the Sandpiper Tiki bar at the end of the pier. The only bad cruise we every took. It has been awhile since we have been to Belize. Did they change where the ship anchors? Going again in Feb. mworkman
We were way off shore. Not much at port when we went. They were still recovering from the hurricane aftermath.

With that comes the need to anchor way out. Destroy massive amounts of coral reef to build a channel, harbor and pier - I hope not. packercruising
